How much did you pay for your glasses?

DP is moaning, went to Specsavers yesterday and ordered a pair of French connection glasses and a pair of sunglasses with anti glare coating on glasses as I do a lot of driving in the dark, totalling £129. He thinks £65 a pair is unreasonable! To shut him up can you all post how much you recently paid for glasses if you don't get a voucher? 😊

£464 for varifocals . My glasses live on my face all the time . I always spend the most I can afford on them

About £80 I normally get Specsavers twofers, but really couldn't find any I liked there and ended up with glasses direct.
I always find choosing new frames a massive ordeal.

Approx £800 and that was just for the lenses which they put into my old frames. We live abroad. I don't half miss Specsavers.

£210 last week in Specsavers.

Also spend £30 a month on contact lenses.

Let me preface this by saying, I was made to wear my grandfathers glasses from the 1940's when I was in high school. They weren't even my prescription, so eye glasses are a very touchy subject with me.

£623 this week for 2 pairs of varifocals.

Both dh and I have Specsavers black frames (thickish) £25 each. He has the men's version and I bought the women's version. I did like a pair which were £125 but thought they were a bit steep just after Christmas

I buy Ray Bans (with anti glare) from Tortoise and Black online, about £80, absolute bargain.

(Get my prescription done at an opticians but won't be buying from one again unless my prescription becomes too complicated to do at T&B)

Around £300 for some Tom Ford ones. If you wear them everyday, it's important to get the ones that suit you the most (based on what you can afford) imo.

£300 per pair. I would love to get a pair for £65 quid. But even when I get cheap frames my complex lenses make them way more.

I might consider online next time as I clocked my pupillary distance! 30.7mm left and 29.6mm right or 60.3mm x

£77 for Ray Ban frames and lenses. I am -8.0 in both eyes but I’ve never thinned the lenses down because they look fine with thick frames.

I got them from Glasses Direct with 25% off. I’ve used them for years and they are great.

From specsavers? £270. Not varifocal, but a complex prescription and ultra thinning so they don't look like bottle tops.

Yikes! I paid what I consider to be a LOT for mine, they're gucci, I'm not a name brand type but I adore them. Thinned lenses, anti-glare the works, £400 I think, in 2014. I want the lenses replacing as the anti glare coating is half gone, but it'll be a risk to do it, plastic goes brittle over time.

Over £300 several years ago. Varifocal, thinned and anti glare. Designer frames worn for work and for reading. They are really comfortable and I like them. I never begrudge money spent on my glasses.

Mine are 1 and 1.25 reading glasses, bog standard lenses. I found some Caroline Herrera frames I liked in Boots (would have been £289 with normal lenses).

Then I ordered two pairs in different colours from Mister Spex online for £122 a pair.

I paid around £800. The frames were around £400+ and the lenses were varifocal with extra thinning etc from an independent optician who offers a very personalised service. My eyes are too important to scrimp on. And it's my money so no-one can tell me what I can and can't spend on. They could try but it wouldn't end well for them.

£25 all in, Glasses Direct.

Had them about 3 years.

£335 for pair of varifocals (Farhi) and pair of varifocals sunglasses (Twiggy ) . From Specsavers two weeks ago. I was well happy as one pair of varifocals and one distance pair of sunglasses from Boots two years ago was over £500.

Should have been £335 (I'm so blind I have to pay a whopping £235 for the lenses) but I got a discount cos they priced me wrong originally.

This was just a few weeks ago. The last time I went to an independent optician and paid double, the time before I used specsavers but got the £99 range.

I always have anti glare on my regulars And polarisation on my sunnies.

Forgot to say no vouchers. £65 is one of their cheapest frames. There seemed to be a few (not very nice ones) at about £40 but the main ones started at about £65 as I remember.
