DP seems to think I'm breaking some kind of law by buying and eating hot cross buns in February

Anyone else's DP like this?

He was shocked to see them come in the shopping, as if Jesus will smite us or some shit for eating them before the correct time.

DP would be shocked if he saw hot cross buns in the house, mainly because I generally eat them before he gets home.

I've already consumed my own body weight in bunny goodness this month

Ifailed · 09/02/2019 12:08

they are on sale all year round now, or at least seem to be.

HankNPat · 09/02/2019 12:09

You're fine, OP. Whilst I'm relatively indifferent to HCBs, DP eats them all year round!

silkpyjamasallday · 09/02/2019 12:11

You can get them all year round now though, we have them all the time. Two different packs on the go at the moment, because this time of year always means new wacky varieties are available. We've had blueberry, spiced apple, chocolate and toffee ones this week alone!

DowntonCrabby · 09/02/2019 12:11

Hmm I’ve just realised my hypocrisy, I’d have no problem munching hot cross buns in February but get irrationally annoyed at DH buying mince pies in October.

reallybadidea · 09/02/2019 12:12

Got the same shit after DS who's only 13. I've raised a HCB fascist Hmm

DobbyLovesSocks · 09/02/2019 12:15

I must admit I have already eaten one pack of hot cross buns this year but I do not eat mince pies before November. Nor do I buy Easter eggs until at least late Feb/early March depending on when Easter falls.

I'm sure Jesus won't berate me for the hot x buns

Kpo58 · 09/02/2019 12:16

I wish that they went back to selling currant buns and hcb just around Easter.

punishmepunisher · 09/02/2019 12:16

It's weird isn't it. We're not religious in the slightest, but DP seemed to get weirdly superstitious about it.

Until I toasted 2 for myself, then he wanted some.

Fucking love a toasted HCB.

Crinkle77 · 09/02/2019 12:16

You are breaking the law because they are horrible. I hate anything with dried fruit. I am currently sat here munching on mini eggs though.

punishmepunisher · 09/02/2019 12:17

@Kpo58 How come? Just interested why.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 09/02/2019 12:17

If he's upset by hot cross buns then buy a creme egg and eat it slowly whilst maintaining eye contact the entire time. Extra points if you wear an easter bonnet at the same time.

punishmepunisher · 09/02/2019 12:17

Fancy Xmas pud and custard now.

OP posts:
TheLostTargaryen · 09/02/2019 13:15

Now I need to ho out and buy some HCBs for toasting.

You, madam, are a corrupting influence! Shame! Shame! Shame!

MistressDeeCee · 09/02/2019 13:18

Jesus won't take you for a Sunbeam now

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 09/02/2019 13:21

Where are all these mysterious 'all year round HCBs'? I've only noticed them this month.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/02/2019 13:24

I kind of agree with him. I think all of these 'special' days have become selling opportunities and the least that shops can do is wait until one 'special' day has passed before they start on the next. So, no Christmas stuff until after Halloween, and no Easter things until after Valentine's Day.

HazelBite · 09/02/2019 13:31

Dh eats Hot Cross buns every day for breakfast, and gets quite angry if ASDA don't have any. I have to keep some in the freezer for emergencies.

EBearhug · 09/02/2019 13:32

You're not breaking the law, but obviously there should be a law which prevents this sort of abuse of seasonal foods and the proper order of all things. At this time of year, you are free to eat toasted teacakes, but to have a cross on it this side of Good Friday is simply reckless and will bring on the End of Days.

"Until I toasted 2 for myself, then he wanted some."

This is what happens in our house, I can smell that DP has put a couple of HCBs in the toaster and then I think "oh, yum, me too" Grin

Canshopwillshop · 09/02/2019 15:00

My kids have had toasted hot x buns for breakfast every day this week. The smell is divine!

EyUpOurKid · 09/02/2019 19:30

2 Yr old DS loves a HCB for breakfast.

MrsDilligaf · 09/02/2019 20:06

He's being a plonker. I love a HCB (especially when they are slathered with tons of butter)

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 09/02/2019 20:18

HCB slathered with a HUGE dollop of lemon curd. To die for!

OP, LTB!

VanillaSauce · 09/02/2019 20:43

We had mince pies and cream for pudding tonight
