DP seems to think I'm breaking some kind of law by buying and eating hot cross buns in February

Anyone else's DP like this?

He was shocked to see them come in the shopping, as if Jesus will smite us or some shit for eating them before the correct time.

This seems like the right place to ask for suggestions of were to buy hcb without any fruit in? Or is that an even bigger sin, eating none fruit hcb in January

lottiegarbanzo · 09/02/2019 20:47

I'm with the DP. Likewise not religious but grew up churchgoing. I'm sometimes surprised at the strength with which I cleave to tradition.

Hot cross buns may be eaten on Good Friday, only.

cushioncovers · 09/02/2019 20:57

I've eaten 7 hcb's in the last two days hth

IndianaMoleWoman · 09/02/2019 20:59

I had hot cross buns on my birthday. In mid-December. I may be going to hell, but I’ll be going with a belly full of deliciousness.

Solasum · 09/02/2019 21:00

Waitrose chocolate orange are the best

Mumshappy · 09/02/2019 21:03

We are currently going through hx buns like they are soon to be extinct. Keep getting the m and s two for 2.50 deal. Dds like the mini chocolate ones. I like the blueberry. Im so glad february has brought them into our lives.

SoSaidTheHorse · 09/02/2019 21:07

You are breaking my law that says that any product containing dried fruit is only fit for the bin.

DonnaDarko · 09/02/2019 21:11

I bought a pack last month 😀 they lasted a day lol

MitziK · 09/02/2019 21:18

Now I really fancy some mince pies.

Thank you sooooo much.

littlemissalwaystired · 09/02/2019 21:59

I had hot cross buns for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed them. It's been 8 hours and I've not yet been struck down by the Lord. Maybe I'm in the clearGrin

DrCoconut · 09/02/2019 22:16

A few people agree with me that dried fruit is the droppings of beelzebub. I literally can't force it down without gagging and retching it's that bad. And it taints everything it touches so no picking them out. If there are poison free varieties I may be interested...

IamMoana · 09/02/2019 22:26

M&S do a hot cross bun loaf, lasted approx 48 hours in my house this week. Highly recommended!

JellyTeapot · 10/02/2019 00:06

Hot cross buns for breakfast all year round at Teapot Towers I'm afraid Grin

Mince pies are bogging though, and should not be allowed to stray outside the confines of December.

Mumshappy · 10/02/2019 12:15

IamMoana not seen this but i will find it!

Nothing to be afraid of Grin I eat them all year round too Grin I particularly like the Waitrose Extra Fruity ones though, with apologies to those of you who think this is the work of the devil.

BillyAndTheSillies · 10/02/2019 13:02

DH bought some for me yesterday. They're on my work surface and I'm desperate for one but after 30 odd years of only having them on Good Friday I'm really struggling. It's silly, but it's tradition from growing up for men

BillyAndTheSillies · 10/02/2019 13:03

*for me. Not men obviously

SoSaidTheHorse · 10/02/2019 20:40

I went to M&S to try their blueberry hot cross buns today and they have bloody currants in them too. Why? Why not just blueberries? Thankfully I saw it on the packet so I didn't make the mistake of buying them.
