What are your favourite and least favourite months of the year ?

My favourite is April. Spring is properly established (Beasts from the East notwithstanding), the days are noticeably longer and brighter, daffodils and tree blossom abound, it's often when Easter falls and there's the promise of May and June to come.

Conversely, November is just miserable. Increasingly darker days, chilly, bare trees, the smell of decay from rotting leaves and flowers, mud. Yuck. Nothing good about November at all.

Obviously, folk in the southern hemisphere may disagree !

I like April days that begin dry, cool and misty. Then the sun breaks through around midday and the temperature leaps from single to double figures.

Quite often in April, the daytime temperature can be in the high teens but becomes quite cool as the sun begins to set. It's still nice to have an open log and coal fire on such evenings.

I love April for all the reasons above, plus it's my b.day month.

I always get a bit depressed when the schools go back/nights start drawing in/it gets colder/plants start dying and leaves start falling off trees, so end Aug/Sept and Oct are my least favourite months.

I like all the other months.

Believability · 08/02/2019 19:07

Worst is January as it’s so dark. Not keen on Feb either for similar reasons. I love May June and July for the long light nights but by August I’m getting sad that summer is coming to an end

Snowmaggedon · 08/02/2019 19:09

May /September love...

Dislike February.

Teddy1970 · 08/02/2019 19:28

I love September October, November and December, I don't like March or April very much.

Pinkbells · 08/02/2019 19:36

On the whole a warm Spring day is my favourite time of the year - the flowers and trees are still fresh and new and there is the anticipation of lots more sunshine to follow. But as our seasons can be not very well defined, I like certain conditions: A hard frost, where everything is white and glittery, a warm Autumn day, when the leaves are really vibrant, or a lazy hot sunny day on the beach. More snapshots rather than seasons, for me.

Love December, just feels magical to me. Hate June. It drags on and on and I hate being too warm.

ineedaknittedhat · 08/02/2019 19:39

I absolutely hate December due to xmas.

I like springtime, but don't like the really hot weather in summer.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/02/2019 19:41

Love July! Long nights, warm weather!!!- also knowing work will soon slow down in August (work in finance).... loath February, cold, broke, car insurance due, and usually at my fattest

Jsmith99 · 08/02/2019 19:41

Favourites : June & September because we usually go on holiday in both months.

Least favourite: December, because I hate Christmas.

mizu · 08/02/2019 19:45

Not keen on March and April tbh as I'm always longing for much warmer weather and these months are generally not that warm

Love February as its my birthday half way through Grin and love Autumn up to Christmas.

Love the summer too, all that time (well last year anyway) you can go out in sandals or flip flops not having to think about coats etc. And I cycle loads in the warmer months.

ChimpyChops · 08/02/2019 19:46

October is my favourite. I love Autumn.

Hate July, August when it is hot.

IndigoSpritz · 08/02/2019 20:26

I should also mention I like April because it is the start of my personal gin and tonic season. G&T is a spring and summer drink for me.

I'm the annoying person who loves them all. The months after I'm dead are the ones I'll dislike!

BibbityBobbityEars · 08/02/2019 20:48

Best is June - nicest weather, garden at its best, lots going on

Worst - August. Weather usually disappointing, everyone is away or too busy with their families to do anything fun. I find it a lonely aimless month.

Octopus37 · 08/02/2019 20:49

I love September and also like May. Quite like Summer generally as the days are longer, although it can get too much. I also love December cause I love the Christmas build up. I struggle a bit with Jan/Feb cause I hate cold, damp weather. I also struggle a bit with Spring cause my Mum, MIL and a very good friend all died in March/April so the anniversaries are a tad difficult.

cafesociety · 08/02/2019 20:59

I loathe December...long dark wet soggy nights, the whole Christmas thing going on all month long to make it even worse.
I love May/June...full of growth, colour, greenery and lovely light evenings for wandering or relaxing.

madeyemoodysmum · 08/02/2019 21:04

May and October are my faves

June and Jan worst

TeaBea2019 · 08/02/2019 21:06

Detest January. Wake, work, eat sleep repeat...start in darkness end in darkness...it's pretty dark....

TeaBea2019 · 08/02/2019 21:07

I've always said Xmas should be in January, everyone loves the excitement and anticipation of an event keeps you going but December for the climax is way too early.

NaturalBornWoman · 08/02/2019 21:08

I hate November because the darkest days are ahead. I love June, early summer, it smells of flowers and the dog roses are out in the hedgerows.
February is usually the worst weather but at least it's noticeably lighter so I'm starting to cheer up. And the spring bulbs are starting to come out in my garden.

RussellSprout · 08/02/2019 21:18

I hate January, I love September. Love the beginning of Autumn. Also love May particularly the late nights.

Phoebesgift · 08/02/2019 22:07

Hate January and February cos it's so bloody cold. Like May and June because it's the start of the summer and isn't too hot and humid.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/02/2019 23:37

Autumn. I like to hibernate. Love winter when it snows. Then summer next. Hate Spring.its inbetween weather wise and rains here daily. I love wearing my boots and i have to put them away!

PrincessCarolyn · 09/02/2019 00:28

January and February are the worst. It's still dark and freezing but the Christmas lights get taken down and I no longer have an excuse for indulging in my favourite food/drink. I'm usually overweight, short of money and plagued by stuff like car insurance, my tax return and everything I didn't do in December because Christmas got in the way.

I don't really see the point of March or April, except for Easter.

May and June: my favourite time of the year. Long warm days, fresh green leaves, I can discard my coat and my black opaque tights and get out all my summer dresses.

July and August: still happy because it's summer.

September: not great. In denial that summer is over.

October/November: I like Hallowe'en but I usually get one cold after another and I don't like the transition to my winter wardrobe or the shorter days.

December: A mixed bag. I don't like frantically hunting for gifts or queuing at the post office, I do like Advent calendars, the Nutcracker and the gold sparkly stuff that M&S cafes put on their cakes.

Autumn used to be my favourite season but for a long time now it's been summer, probably because I moved to the south-east, where we actually have a summer.
