I’ve been watching bits online, I’m not allowing myself to watch all 7 seasons yet though as I have work to do! Is the reunion one worth watching?

I am team Jess all the way though.

None of them, but especially not Team Logan

RoryG · 05/02/2019 13:20

100% team Jess.

EssentialHummus · 05/02/2019 13:21

Dean, I think. The reunion ones were terrible though!

Definitely Jess. Dean was so wet and Logan was a brat

The reunion is definitely worth watching! In fact it's worth watch for Emily alone!

CaptainHammer · 05/02/2019 13:31

Team Jess if I had to pick out of those 3. The reunion episodes are just ok. Worth watching to say you’ve seen them all but not amazing. Sad without Richard Herrmann too.

hartof · 05/02/2019 13:46

Team Jess, but I did feel for her in the reunion episodes despite knowing the boy (don't want to give it away for anyone who hasn't watched) was with someone else.

amusedbush · 05/02/2019 13:48

100% Logan. Dean is like a human labrador - far too clingy and excitable.

TheManFromHellMonte · 05/02/2019 14:45

Does she end up with any of them in the specials? Or would that give too much anyway?

*too much away

Team Jess based on later on in the series and the reunion. Definitely not Logan

Ironfloor269 · 05/02/2019 15:05

Team Jess, all the way.

RedForShort · 05/02/2019 15:08

Jess. Dean is needy and Logan selfish.

RedemptiveCrocodile · 05/02/2019 15:12

Jess. He actually understood her, rather than imposing his idea of her on their relationship.

But I'd rather she was alone for a while, she basically never not had a boyfriend. She doesn't even know herself.

SarahAndQuack · 05/02/2019 15:15

Dean was awful. Though Lorelai was worse, making Rory feel it was unfair not to love him because he'd made her a car and so on. He was just creepy.

Jess had too many of his own problems but seemed to grow up ok.

CryHavoc · 05/02/2019 15:20

Team Jess. Dean was a controlling nightmare, and as soon as my daughter is old enough I'll be presenting him as a textbook example of a bad boyfriend.

Jess was troubled, but he grew up. Neither of the other two seemed to mature, and I agree with the pp who said that they imposed their view of how she should behave onto her.

I really enjoyed the specials. Loads of flaws and plot holes, obviously, but Stars Hollow is still my favourite place to go for a bit of comfort and escapism.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 05/02/2019 15:25

Jess, based on the reunion.

I've started watching again from the beginning very recently, and come to the conclusion out of all of Lorelie's boyfriends Max was by far the best.

fermezzlabouche · 05/02/2019 15:30

Team Jess always, there are episodes where I love Logan too but Jess will always be my fave. Dean is a knob, always.

The reunion is watchable, funny and enjoyable. I picked 6263527 flaws in it because I'm a massive fan (I've probably watched the seven series' 20+ times)

billybagpuss · 05/02/2019 15:34

Logan all the way, Dean was lovely but a puppy dog, Jess had too much baggage. Logan was the only one that was really her equal, (although Jess could have been if he applied himself)

The reunion isn't as good and I don't like where they took her character, they also left it hanging at the end. Still quite liked it though.

Graphista · 05/02/2019 15:38

#teamjess in terms of who's best for Rory, his earlier delinquency he outgrows

#teamlogan a second purely as I adore Matt czuchry and it'd piss his dad off! (Fans will know what I mean when I say I LOVED Emily's dealing with them at the DAR party!!)

Dean is a wuss and messed her about and was I felt quite possessive/controlling too.

Reunion eps not great but worth watching for Emily and finding out the last scene which the creators say is how they intended the original series to end.

"Does she end up with any of them in the specials? Or would that give too much anyway?" Would give away the whole thing!

"But I'd rather she was alone for a while, she basically never not had a boyfriend. She doesn't even know herself." Totally! If she posted on mn after the end of the reunion specials I'd be advising her to take time out of relationships and get her head straight.

"Neither of the other two seemed to mature, and I agree with the pp who said that they imposed their view of how she should behave onto her." Totally agree!

Graphista · 05/02/2019 15:40

Anyone else think the gilmores are the PERFECT example of a "stately homes" family?

And I don't just mean Emily & Richard! Lorelai can be very controlling & narcissistic too and tbh I can see Rory ending up the same.

Lorelai would completely deny being AT ALL like Emily but they're not so dissimilar.

fermezzlabouche · 05/02/2019 15:41

@Graphista Matt is amazing in the resident if you haven't already seen it, he's an insanely attractive character.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 05/02/2019 15:48

Lorelai works very hard to be the opposite of Emily, but really underneath she’s the same kind of controlling type, it just comes out in different ways.

SarahAndQuack · 05/02/2019 15:58

YY, graphista.

I think it is so cleverly written - you start out sympathising with Rory who sees her grandfather as this lovely, benignly old-fashioned figure, and then she realises how incredibly misogynistic and autocratic he can be. And Emily initially seems like the 'baddie' until you realise how constrained she's been by her lifestyle. And yes, I agree, Lorelai is a terrible mother really. Mrs Kim is actually much better! I do think it's interesting how much that show works to represent a lot of different relationships. You don't very often get real deep focus on mother/daughter bonds.
