If you could live anywhere in the UK, where would it be?

Having a chat about where we would like to live but we're obviously constrained with practicalities like work and children's school. So conversation led to Ok if I didn't have to worry about work and children's education where would I like to live and I didn't have a clue!
So where would you live within the UK if there were no constraints and why?

Harrogate or Bath.

Harryo · 03/02/2019 19:06

Or Lyme Regis.

Northern Lake District, so pretty and they get snow in the winter !

I'm very happy in North Dorset, but I would quite like to live in the Arne/ Studland for the proximity to Poole/ Bournemouth.

sweetkitty · 03/02/2019 19:14

Fife Coast

We went to Northumberland on hols and did think about the practicalities of moving there, was lovely and within reach of Newcastle for jobs etc.

More realistically, Chester and York are lovely albeit expensive.

I grew up myself in North Wales. I didn't realise it at the time but it actually has an awful lot going for it in places.

FrannySalinger · 03/02/2019 19:16

Exactly where I am. Cotswolds, lovely market town, beautiful countryside, big house. If I move it will be to a different country.

Daysofpearlyspencer · 03/02/2019 19:17

North Norfolk coast area for me or inland Suffolk village

EastMidsGPs · 03/02/2019 19:18

North Norfolk (back to my roots)

cafesociety · 03/02/2019 19:19

East Devon.

Yorkshire

PutYourBackIntoit · 03/02/2019 19:20

Where I live now, edge of Cotswolds. Market town, close to Bristol. Stunning geography.

Or Sheffield!

ilovesooty · 03/02/2019 19:23

I quite like where I am but I wouldn't mind a flat in Central London.

bastedyoungturkey · 03/02/2019 19:23

The Isle of Wight.

Serin · 03/02/2019 19:24

Islay.
Near Ardbeg.

AwdBovril · 03/02/2019 19:25

Scotland. I'd be more specific but I actually can't choose a particular town or area as there are so many that have a lot to offer. Where I live is beautiful but has very little to offer apart from scenery.

Grapetree · 03/02/2019 19:26

Richmond, London or Edinburgh
Instead I live in the boring Midlands

EyesUnderARock · 03/02/2019 19:26

I’d love the Highlands if it weren’t for the midges.
What I’d really love is enough money for some city flats in York, Edinburgh and London, a cottage on a sandy beach in the Scillies, a house on Skye, an ancient farmhouse with an orchard in Sussex and a Victorian house in North Oxford.
I really do like where I live now, but....

Jetsiu · 03/02/2019 19:28

I currently live in my favourite place! Up north in the Highlands, but Stirling as another poster said is probably my next favourite if I wanted to move more to central belt.

Gingerkittykat · 03/02/2019 19:32

Orkney or Shetland, unfortunately house prices in Orkney have been pushed out of a reasonable range due to incomers wanting to live the dream. I'm fully aware that by wanting to be an incomer I would be adding to that problem, so probably just as well it's just a dream for me.

I would love to live somewhere really rural but lack of job opportunities a problem.

Maybe one day.

Everythingmagnolia · 03/02/2019 19:34

Wirral

I grew up there and I miss it!

TryingToDrinkMoreWater · 03/02/2019 19:34

Another vote for Edinburgh.

AmIthatbloodycold · 03/02/2019 19:40

I would live in Glasgow. West end. In a heartbeat
