Proper swanky hotel in London?

SylvanPlace · 02/02/2019 18:23

For a proper, romantic, grown up break for a significant birthday after a shitty few years.

Want to push the boat out!

For views alone The Shard.

Giraffesinscarves · 02/02/2019 18:26

Shard, Berkeley or Athenium

Ting at the shard is brilliant for food and views

YoMommasMomma · 02/02/2019 18:27

The Berkeley
Claridges

Bayleyf · 02/02/2019 18:28

Dukes Hotel so you can have a short trip to bed after their legendary martinis.

I'm a Londoner so I've never stayed there, but it's by far my favourite hotel bar.

BlueJava · 02/02/2019 18:28

ShangriLa at the The Shard - loved it!

mysteryfairy · 02/02/2019 18:28

I’d like to stay in one of the rooms at the Ned

LaurieFairyCake · 02/02/2019 18:30

The best hotel is Hotel 41

Just look at the tripadvisor reviews

Loseitandkeepitlost · 02/02/2019 18:30

Four Seasons or Claridges.

Buglife · 02/02/2019 18:33

If I were splashing out I’d want to go solid old school London luxury so Claridges would be top.

Tahitiitsamagicalplace · 02/02/2019 18:35

Hotel 41, town hall hotel or the shard - get a city view room. The views are amazing!

user1457017537 · 02/02/2019 18:38

The Connaught

Ilovewillow · 02/02/2019 18:38

The Ned is lovely! Real old fashion glamour feel to it!

SylvanPlace · 02/02/2019 18:39

Thank you all.. spoiled for choice. It’s cheering me up just googling them all 😊

I really didn't enjoy Claridges. The Lanesborogh is elegant

Spicilydone · 02/02/2019 18:40

I love Browns. Great location and luxurious while also cosy.

DropZoneOne · 02/02/2019 18:41

Depends on your style and any preferred location?

Classic - Rosewood, Langham, Grosvenor House
Modern - Shangri La, Sea Containers, ME, Conrad

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 02/02/2019 18:43

Corinthia

LuckyAmy1986 · 02/02/2019 18:44

The Royal Horseguards is lovely, great location too. Or Browns as PP said.

SylvanPlace · 02/02/2019 18:44

I would like it to be central London but not fussed where; planning to spend most of the time enjoying the luxury!

I can’t decide on style. I don’t like places that are too fussy but that’s about it.

I'd go for one of the famous luxurious ones - Savoy, Claridge's, the Ritz.

Mumtothelittlefella · 02/02/2019 18:46

The Savoy. History, first class service and cocktails in the American Bar. Perfect

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/02/2019 18:47

not been to many hotels that are super posh but had lunch at the goring couple of years ago

we were obviosuly cheap deal people but they treated us like the most important guests, honestly the people who worked there were so welcoming and lovely
the food was lush
lovely cosy bar to sit in with a big fire
art deco gorgeousness
the price tells me the rooms must be quite nice too!

feliciabirthgiver · 02/02/2019 18:48

ME London, super cool, super luxurious very modern theme and an amazing roof bar, just stayed here for a work trip and desperate to take my hubby.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/02/2019 18:49

Just looking at the blurb
michelin star restaurant

"London's last remaining family-owned luxury hotel. "

might be a selling point for you

LuckyAmy1986 · 02/02/2019 18:50

Oh gosh just remembered the Renaissance at St Pancras it’s stunning. Or the Langham, again great location. I am getting too excited for you!
