If you don't live alone, what is the earliest you can go to bed with a straight face?

Also included in the caveats:

Not working shifts
Not pregnant, breast feeding or looking after a child under 2 years old
Not ill or disabled
Not entertaining guests

I could honestly go to bed now! (before 9pm UK time). I know that's nuts when there's nothing wrong with me, and my family would question me and make a fuss if I headed up the wooden hill now. They will be up until 11, 12, 1am.

I just wish I could do it without having to explain myself.

Anytime I like! Noone would really question me.

PaquitaVariation · 01/02/2019 20:58

I’m often in bed before nine, no one would question why.

Mum2jenny · 01/02/2019 20:58

My dh tends to go to bed before me. He is currently sound asleep

BollocksToBrexit · 01/02/2019 20:59

Any time I like.

lucysmam · 01/02/2019 20:59

If the girls were in bed, whenever I wanted. Unfortunately, they're not so I'll be up a while yet

NicoAndTheNiners · 01/02/2019 20:59

Sometime between 9 and 10. I couldn't care if dh thought anything about that. He stays up until midnight. I need more sleep. I also get up earlier than him. I don't normally turn the light off until 10:30pm but I like to read mumsnet for a while before going to sleep.

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 01/02/2019 20:59

I went and had a nap at 6pm. My DH laughed when I said I might go upstairs.

Prusik · 01/02/2019 21:00

Can you declare that you're off to read a book? And just go up and go to sleep?

I can't answer your survey as my youngest is 12m. In fact, this is my last thread and I'm just off to bed now! Good night Grin

HarrysPoorFoot · 01/02/2019 21:00

Anytime. Although even when I'm exhausted/I'll I don't go to bed before the children because I like to tuck them in.

Why can't you just go to bed now? It sounds like your family are old enough to look after themselves.

boringlyboring · 01/02/2019 21:01

I’m in bed at 8pm regularly (especially during winter). Seeing as it’s Friday night I’m pushing the boat out til around half 9 or so.

feltcarrot · 01/02/2019 21:02

I’m often in bed at 9, read for half an hour or so then fast as sleep. I get up at 6 during the week so averaging about 8 1/2 hours.
I like my bed!

MrsGrindah · 01/02/2019 21:02

Any time from 8pm onwards is fair game in our house ! Just me and DH 49 and 59 respectively!

WhyTheLongFace · 01/02/2019 21:03

Just had this very same discussion here. H normally goes at 7.30 as stupid shifts. DCs are grown ups so don’t need bedtime or night waking or getting up in the mornings.
For me I think 9 is really quite sensible. But I have been known to give in at 8.
Although I do work some stupid night shifts and not long post-surgery so using that as an excuse.

But really, I’m just a tired person.

Mitsouko67 · 01/02/2019 21:06

Tucked in now! 9pm watershed here. Wouldn't want to go to bed earlier. Unless maybe DH away then I might the odd time.

lottiegarbanzo · 01/02/2019 21:07

Why would you care what they think? Surely you'd just say 'I'm tired'?

I usually go around 11pm but sometimes get worn out, or miss sleep, then go at 9pm. I don't think it would really occur to me to go before then, unless I was ill, pregnant etc.

ThursdayLastWeek · 01/02/2019 21:08

I try not to go earlier than 9, just because I’m likely to wake at silly o'clock in the morning if I fall asleep too early.

But anything after 9 is fair game - I don’t even work (in paid employment) and my children while young, dont wake much in the night anymore.
I have always always been a sleeper.

HolyMountain · 01/02/2019 21:09

I often head up between 8-8.30pm.

I love my bed and stretching out under the duvet , I’m on my phone usually but fall asleep by 9.30.

I’m an early riser and need my sleep!

KitKat1985 · 01/02/2019 21:10

I usually head up at about 9.30! I usually have to be up for 5.30 / 6am for either DD1 or work though, which is my excuse!

iklboo · 01/02/2019 21:11

Bed to sleep or bed to relax? If it's the latter I'm usually up there by 6:00pm Grin

bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/02/2019 21:11

My kids are teens. One has been out to an early thing and is home now, the other is out and needs collecting at around 11 - Dh will go on that mission. But they'll all be up til 11 at the earliest, so it just feels antisocial to go to bed now! Even if I went at 10 there would be raised eyebrows. I might feign illness Grin.

I sometime go upstairs with my book at 7:30 and will usually be asleep, having dropped the book, by 9pm on those days

StealthPolarBear · 01/02/2019 21:11

Realistically not before 9.if I don't have to go out again though I have my onesie on any time from 3pm

AfterSchoolWorry · 01/02/2019 21:12

After dinner. Even if dinner is at 5.30!

I've always been the samesame. Tired and lazy!

1sttimeDD · 01/02/2019 21:12

DH is a serial couch napper so I tend to choose a time when I can no longer stand the snoring! 7mo DD is in bed by 9 so any time after that! We're 29 and 30 and both have draining jobs!

DaffydownClock · 01/02/2019 21:13

Whenever I like, I love my bed!
It has been as early as 7.30, generally I'm in bed by 9, read for a while and then snuggle down. Usually awake by 6.00.
