What a shame, I enjoyed his appearances on the news quiz, I didn’t realise he was ill, and only 57Sad

How sad. I knew something was wrong as there were some very strange tweets from him recently which he attributed to strong pain medication. Poor man. He was great on the News Quiz, and also I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, where his 'singing' was a byword. Rest in Peace, Jeremy.

ChrisjenAvasarala · 01/02/2019 09:58

That's actually made me feel sad. He was always great on the news quiz and the unbelievable truth.

SassitudeandSparkle · 01/02/2019 10:01

What a shame, he had been making some out-of-character tweets in the last few months but I didn't realise he was ill.

SunnySomer · 01/02/2019 10:04

Gosh that made me cry - came as a shock. His voice is comfortable constant background noise while I’m cooking and makes me feel home and safe. I’m not on twitter so hadn’t seen tweets. RIP

AndSheWas85 · 01/02/2019 10:04

Sad to hear. Loved him on The News Quiz he always had brilliant one-liners and quips. RIP Jeremy.

shutlingsloe · 01/02/2019 10:08

I'm really shocked. Linda Smith and now him.

Bittermints · 01/02/2019 10:12

No! That's really shaken me. My age. Far too young. Very sorry to hear this.

Panicwiththebisto · 01/02/2019 10:15

Sad news.

DareDevil223 · 01/02/2019 10:21

Very sad. Many years ago in the late 80s when I was at uni and he was a young comedian he did a gig there. He came back to our student flat and stayed over.

He regaled us with funny and potentially slanderous stories about other comedians and was generally funny and charming. He'll be missed Sad

AviatorShades · 01/02/2019 10:37

I'll miss him. And his singing.Wink

KarineAimee · 01/02/2019 10:37

So sad, his film Jeremy Hardy vs The Israeli Army had a massive impact on me. He will be a much missed voice.

Tootyfilou · 01/02/2019 10:43

Having a little cry about this. Very shocked, a wonderfully funny, kind and compassionate man. He will be sorely missed.

Jeremy interviewed by Jack Dee for Chain Reaction

BabloHoney · 01/02/2019 11:01

So so sad. He always came across so lovely and his wit and humour always made me smile so much. RIP Jeremy x

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/02/2019 11:01

I didn't even know he was ill, how sad. I will miss him very much, especially on The News Quiz.

He said the funniest thing I have ever heard, EVER, on his Jeremy Hardy Addresses the Nation: How to be a Parent broadcast. He said (I may be paraphrasing) "After the birth some parents like to cook and eat the placenta. Obviously that option isn't open to adoptive parents, but they might like to cook and eat their social worker instead." I guarantee that if you are an adoptive parent you are PYSL right now, the rest of you will just have to trust me when I say that it is very funny indeed.

SpoonBlender · 01/02/2019 11:04

That's a real shame. We got our tour ticket cancellation a couple of months ago, and although he was denying serious illness at the time it didn't look good. Fuck cancer.

HebeMumsnet · 01/02/2019 11:06

This is so sad. Will miss him so much. Did just snort through tears though at Sandi Toksvig's tweet remembering how he shouted out: "It should have been me!" at her wedding.

SaturdayNext · 01/02/2019 11:30

Really sad about this. Cancer really needs to fuck off.

AviatorShades · 01/02/2019 11:35

LaurelAndMardy · 01/02/2019 11:41

Oh this is so sad. I haven’t heard him on the news quiz in a while. He will be hugely missed.

PrincessFiorimonde · 01/02/2019 11:46

Very sorry to hear this; I thought he was brilliant.

Thanks for posting the links above, Bittermints.

Bittermints · 01/02/2019 11:47

I've found a few more. What I planned to do this morning has rather gone out of the window with this news.

AndSheWas85 · 01/02/2019 12:29

@Bittermints thanks for those, his "singing" was fantastic, he never failed to hit a dud note Smile

ifeellikeanidiot · 01/02/2019 12:31

God that's so sad. He will be greatly missed.
