We have them about once every couple of weeks, usually as lunch.
I'm just looking for new ideas (but nothing that involves filling and baking or anything like that).

I love pancakes with lemon juice and honey.
It's a nice twist on the usual lemon and sugar.

Also, you can't go wrong with Nutella and strawberries.

caperplips · 31/01/2019 12:02

We used to have pancakes very regularly as dd loved them but I think we overdid it and she went off them. She has moved onto French Toast now. Dh makes the MOST decadent version involving cream, eggs, sugar and cinnamon and she wolfs them down.

Anyway - pancakes -

We like very thin, crepe like ones with butter, lemon and sugar
OR crispy bacon and maple syrup
OR nutella and strawberries

I love savoury toppings like Mushroom a al Creme with spinach

We are also fond of American style fluffy pancakes, served with fruit and maple syrup OR smoked crispy bacon and maple syrup

Think we might make pancakes this weekend.....

A couple of times a month here, as breakfast for the DC. I do the fluffy American-style ones and serve with Nutella and berries. Although the Nutella is mostly piled on and the berries are mostly ignored.

IVFNewbie · 31/01/2019 12:46

weekly- chocolate and jam.

shalll · 31/01/2019 12:46

Love pancakes. We have them every weekend.

Our favourite is ham and cheese. No oven baking involved, just lay on the ham and cheese when the batter is still liquid and then fry both sides. Cheese and ham go nice and crispy, yum.

For pudding the DC might have one with jam and whipped cream..

Ridingthegravytrain · 31/01/2019 12:53

Every day! (Though a boringly healthy version made with buckwheat flour and almond milk topped with cinnamon and erithrytol)

Fave unhealthy toppings are maple syrup, honey or lemon curd

ninalovesdragons · 31/01/2019 12:56

Golden syrup
Maple syrup and crispy bacon
Nutella and banana
Sugar and lemon is still my favourite however

fieldofwheat · 31/01/2019 12:59

We have pancakes most Sunday mornings - occasionally thin ones but mostly the smaller fluffy ones.
Toppings... plain yoghurt with blueberries and honey is a favourite, Nutella and banana is a great combo, occasionally smoked bacon and maple syrup.

TheKitchenWitch · 31/01/2019 15:46

My absolute favourite is bacon and maple syrup on American pancakes.

shall not tried putting the ham and cheese into the wet batter but that is a brilliant idea and shall be tried out forthwith!

Yy to nutella and strawberries (when they’re in season, can’t image it would work with frozen?)

once a year

sugar and lemon for me and DH
nutella or maple syrup for DD

SeaToSki · 31/01/2019 15:51

DH makes them every Sunday for breakfast. Thin crispy ones. Dh likes pb &j. Dses like pb, maple syrup, dd likes chocolate chips, whipped cream and sometimes raspberry syrup too. I cant eat them without gaining pounds, so i stick to an apple

GahWhatever · 31/01/2019 15:52

Not actually baking but there are 7 of us so I keep them warm so we can all eat together: dollop of Bolognese and half a handful of grated cheese on each in a stack. If they are kept in the oven while you cook each one by the time you are done the cheese will have melted and melded the whole heap into a giant bolognesey cheesy tower which you can serve in wedges with salad.

WinterHeatWave · 31/01/2019 15:58

Most weeks, switching between American and British.
Sugar and lemon.
Sugar and lemon with raspberries
Nutella and banana
Golden syrup
Blueberries, with or without sugar and lemon.

I like American pancakes with butter on them.
Another variation for an occasional lunch is to mix a tin of sweetcorn into the mixture, and cook as normal.

TeenTimesTwo · 31/01/2019 16:02

chocolate buttons.

Shrove Tuesday, & shortly thereafter, and may a couple of other times in a year.

CinnamonToaster · 31/01/2019 16:02

American style with golden syrup, about once a month for a weekend breakfast. Occasionally stewed fruit ifI have that sort of thing in but 90% of the time, just golden syrup.

UK pancakes, exactly once a year, followed by a conversation about how delicious they are and we really should make them more often, followed by no more pancakes for a year.

Gummybear14 · 31/01/2019 16:05

When I can be bothered but if someone made them for me daily I'd be happy. Always raspberry jam for me. My partner has cheese and I cannot get my head around the idea of savoury pancakes.

caesio · 31/01/2019 16:05

Stilton, walnut and pears Grin

TheKitchenWitch · 31/01/2019 16:36

They’re too good (and simple!) to only have once a year!
I’m thinking grated apple with a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon. I will try that for breakfast tomorrow (I have a few pancakes left from lunch today).
Oooh yes Stilton!

I like to boil up some raspberries and amaretto to make a scrummy syrup.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 16:40

Every morning, Nutella.

Pascha · 31/01/2019 16:43

Never. My children loathe them so no pancake Day for me Sad.

Ylvamoon · 31/01/2019 16:45

About every other week for dinner:
Broccoli with cheese sauce
Creamy mushroom sauce
Hot raspberry (from freezer) with custard
Vanilla yoghurt and fresh berries

Bonkersblond · 31/01/2019 16:47

Kids have every Friday for breakfast with golden syrup, they love them .

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 31/01/2019 16:49

Lemon, golden syrup and banana for me. DP likes strawberry jam.
