I’m 41 and have 15 years left
It’s less than 500 per month so hoping to repay earlier

Just trying to do some longer term financial planning

In theory it will be paid off by the time we are 60 but we are overpaying so should clear it faster should we stay put, however we intend to move in the next 5 years to somewhere bigger depending on wages so it could all change.

Adversecamber22 · 30/01/2019 18:05

We paid ours off in our middle to late thirties, no penalty. We had about five years of really excellent returns on investments we made. We only had it seven years.

DuchessMinnie · 30/01/2019 18:17

48 and 14 years on two separate properties. We will sell the large house once the children have left home so may be able to clear it sooner. The second is a ski apartment with a rate fixed at 1.3% for the life of the loan. If things get really bad I will go and live there!

KanielOutis · 30/01/2019 18:59

31, and 7 years. Bought age 21 and made overpayments when we stopped paying for nursery.

Schmoobarb · 30/01/2019 19:02

I don’t suspect you’ll be getting a realistic demographic off here OP.

TulipsInbloom1 · 30/01/2019 19:04

34 and 24 years to go.

Sammiejo12 · 30/01/2019 19:05

Shadowboy · 30/01/2019 19:11

34 and I think 20 years left.

ChristmasFlary · 30/01/2019 19:26

42yrs, part mortgaged till 67yrs as it's been topped up over the years for home improvements.

Did only have 8 yrs left but l negotiated having the house in the divorce.

Currently am able to overpay 10% per year and l reduce down the largest part of the mortgage outstanding.

Won't be always able to overpay though as my income will reduce as DS get older. Especially once DS1 gets to 16yrs as he will be cured of his autism so won't need PIP Hmm

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 30/01/2019 19:30

Early 40’s. Paid off 5 years ago, combination of savings and equity from the sale of a business.

Celeriacacaca · 30/01/2019 19:31

54 with 9 months left. It's very low and we've paid chunks off when times were good so are virtually mortgage free now. I'm glad we did as our income has taken a nosedive in recent years.

sansou · 30/01/2019 19:31

47 & paid off (technically) 3 years ago. Have chosen to maintain a very small offset mortgage for its flexibility since the cost is minimal in the scheme of things.

PortiaCastis · 30/01/2019 19:33

38 and paid off (inheritance)

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 30/01/2019 19:36

27 and 31 years, but about to remortgage so will have about 26 and will be overpaying on that (salary increase coming!)

Vitalogy · 30/01/2019 19:37

Finished mortgage at 35. We were very lucky with timing and moved a few times as well, renovating the properties. First bought mid 90's.

MissMarplesKnitting · 30/01/2019 19:39

39 and 20 years 😟 but it's manageable and we are overpaying again so realistically will be 15 years or so.

Keep doing the lottery....

jcq17 · 30/01/2019 19:41

28 and 23 years left.

ShahOfSplosh · 30/01/2019 19:48

40 and 13 years left.

ClanoftheCaveBear · 30/01/2019 19:49

41, DH 44. I believe 13 years but overpaying to try and reduce that.

DramaAlpaca · 30/01/2019 19:50

I'm 54 & we have about a year left on ours. Can't wait.

gemandjule · 30/01/2019 20:01

52 and 1 year 😂😂

Dontbestupidagain · 30/01/2019 20:13

40 and DH 38. Have 25 years to go as just released a chunk to do improvements. Hoping in 2 years we'll increase our LTV and be able to overpay again.
