Leaving your newborn

I am due to give birth on 23rd February and we have a 3 day weekend booked abroad for my husband's 40th birthday just the two of us when the baby would be approx 11 weeks old. My parents would be looking after baby but I'm just not sure how I'll feel leaving. I know they will be well looked after and I happen to think it's good them getting used to others but I'm worried when it comes to it I won't be able to leave. Has anyone else left their child for periods of time when they are that young. Thank you!

11 weeks is tiny. I wouldn't do it even for 1 night let alone 3. I would wait a few months and get some sort of baby carrier and all go on a mini break.

Everyone is different.
I handed mine over to my mother for a few days when they were a week old, then she had them Friday to Sunday each weekend.
That worked for me, but it wouldn't for someone else.
I've always had my grandkids overnight on a Friday, right from them being days old, but again it's something that worked for us.
Everyone benefited from it because the parents got a break and a good night's sleep.
You will have to decide for yourself when the time comes Smile

I couldn’t personally do it and would struggle massively due to BFing. I hate pumping for starters and would need to pump a fair amount for a weekend but also would need to ‘pump and dump’ regularly during the weekend to prevent engorgment which is painful as hell.

I’d hate being away from my 13 week old, longest I’ve done is 2 hours when I took my other DC to the cinema over Christmas. He stayed with DP and slept the whole time so it was fine. I’d miss him too much.
