What do you think will be the next big thing?

Not a TAAT as such, but inspired by the bored of salted caramel thread.

We've had pulled pork everything, salted caramel everything, and all alcohol became first Prosecco and then gin. Donuts are big and before that people charged a fortune for cupcakes. Accessories were unicorns and flamingos, now llamas and cacti.

What's next, do you think?

Artisan gherkins? Poutine? Wombats?

If I could choose, right now I would probably douse everything in nacho cheese.

Camping! Less people will be jetting off on European holidays in the sun and making do with staying local-ish. It'll get competitive between those who camp with all the bells and whistles, versus those who go back to basics, with more eco sites popping up.

Rum has already arrived I think. Although I still don't think that Bacardi and coke will become hipster.

Rum has a cool history behind it in the UK from what I vaguely remember without googling. Smugglers and pirates I think. Probably problematic if looked into but on the surface it's cool.

Ha ha! Yes, I think it would definitely be 'problematic' but I doubt that will stop the cool kids!

All Ican say is I’ll be overjoyed when skinny jeans go out of fashion. I don’t think they’re particularly flattering on any shape or size, and I have an ASD teen son who hates them - he doesn’t like anything clingy. It’s quite hard to find baggier straight cut jeans and trousers for teens at the minute because they’re not on trend.

Then again, I always say DS was born in the wrong decade. He has long hair, baggy clothes....he would have fit right in in the 90’s!

plated pubic hair

Is that vegan?!

Glitteryfrog · 30/01/2019 10:28

I said about 18 months ago that rum was going to be the next gin.
Lots of scope for flavours and spices.

I think fermented food kimchi etc

EnidButton · 30/01/2019 12:16

Conifer the 90's are still very in! He's on trend.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/01/2019 12:27

We've already had Llamas, Sloths and Pugs and Watermelons/Pineapples/Lemons etc.
I take my knowledge from the great Flying Tiger inc that I spend way to long in when DS is in hospital.

Rum is always on point in my world. DH got me a huge bottle of Kracken,

None of this Bacardi white rum bollocks though, I was raised with a Navy sailor as my grandfather and was regularly given Lambs Navy rum in my milk or on my cornflakes as a toddler - yes I appreciate that's an awful thing to do but I'm alive and well, I get the rage when I go to a bar and ask for a Rum and Coke and they assume I want Bacardi because I'm a woman. Angry

Also, what's Poutine?

FurryDogMother · 30/01/2019 12:34

Veganism
Going on technology 'diets' (ie, restricting the amount of time spent online/connected)
Teetotalism
Neo-hippie clothes, hair and music

^

Chips, cheese, gravy.

Québec says they invented it, we all know otherwise.

If my last thread is anything to go by ( university fees)
Three or four mumsnetters getting together in university cities around the country buying a house for their offspring to live in while doing their three years at uni.
Then selling and making a profit
Yes, you heard that here first too
There’s some as cheap as £55k in Newcastle
Like this
Needs a bit of tic...but hey the the students can get involved in that

You are only allowed to do this if you make a big announcement that you are going to do it!

Notquiteagandt · 30/01/2019 13:34

Collapsable and foldable things seem to be everywhere from waterbottles to baby feeding bowls etc.

Foxes and rainbows

Edible food packaging
