Do you feel well?

I've been wondering lately how other people feel In terms of wellness. On a normal day, when you're not ill with something specific, do you feel well?
I ask because it's dawned on me that I hardly ever do, and nor does my partner. Either he has a cough, or is really tired or had a headache. I often just feel a bit yuk. Hard to put my finger on anything specific but just don't feel good. Sometimes I have a belting headache or am extremely tired or obviously sometimes I'm unwell with something like a cold. I do occasionally have days when I feel well, but they stand out.
We're 50, both a bit over weight but not too much, moderately active, non smoking, social drinking.
I'd love to know if this is mostly peoples experience.

At the moment, I seem to have caught everything going.

It would be interesting to revisit this again in the summer. I wonder if it the shitty weather/dark, long nights etc

Threeminis · 28/01/2019 22:25

Also, I should say I work in a school - very close proximity to snotty/coughy children

Celeriacacaca · 28/01/2019 22:25

I've had nearly a month of no alcohol, low sugar, no caffeine and I am surprised at how much better I feel. I've been eating more healthily too. I felt pretty ok before, maybe a bit achy, low mood at time etc. but generally well (I haven't had a day sick in 2.5 years). I regularly get menopause migraines and have a heart condition but both have been trouble free during the past month. I take a multivitamin, b50 and vit d supplement. I'm 54. I'll be carrying on my healthier ways as it has made a positive difference.

Whatdoiwanttohear · 28/01/2019 22:30

Yes always tired but not a naturally early person but alarm off at 6.15am every day and it kills me esp in the winter. In my 50's too. It's our climate, that and worrying about Brexit night and day!

Geekster1963 · 28/01/2019 22:34

I'd say yes I usually feel well and rarely - touch wood- get colds or other illnesses. Though I feel a bit sorry for myself at the moment as I've got a painful infection of the eczema on my fingers.

epicclusterfuck · 28/01/2019 22:34

No, always tired. 2-3 autoimmune conditions and now looks like cfs. I eat healthily, small amount of exercise and work part time. I'm 54 with two adult children so should be able to take things easy but never feel like I have the energy to really enjoy life.

PloddingOnwards · 28/01/2019 22:37

I'm 24 with 3 kids, no I do not feel well 😂

legolammb · 28/01/2019 22:47

No, I rarely feel well. Mild depression, don't sleep well (I wake up in the night), struggle to get up in the morning due to feeling knackered. Feel stressed by my crowded train commute each day. I get brain fog in the day and struggle to concentrate. Currently listening to my noisy neighbours (just TV noise and loud talking, not partying that I can ask them to stop) and feeling quite on edge by lack of quiet. Got bloods done last year and they were normal.

I also have IBS so my stomach never feels quite right, and still have teenage skin in my 30s. Need to lose 3.5 stone to be 'healthy' but IBS means I get terrible stomach issues when eating too much fruit and veg. Joy!

treaclesoda · 28/01/2019 22:57

I have quite severe pain in a couple of joints and I have IBS, and I'm on long term medication for anxiety and depression and I don't sleep well, at all.

But actually I feel fine. Pretty good all in all. I was fairly ill a few years ago so in comparison to that I'd say I feel good. And I always feel better after having exercised. The harder the exercise, the better the rewards, mentally at least.

Empathy56 · 28/01/2019 23:03

I haven't felt well for many many years.I have several long term illnesses including heart disease.I've forgotten what 'normal' is.If I woke with no pain I would think I was dead.On strong pain patches (Fentanyl) and other pain relief and lots of other medications.Confused

duckthisshit · 28/01/2019 23:05

I very rarely feel fresh. Constantly tired and look it! I just put it down to having a toddler or too much to do, never even considered my diet or if I'm drinking enough water (which I'm not).

dontknowwhattodo80 · 28/01/2019 23:10

Oh I've found my people!

I just nearly always feel a bit meh, rarely full on illness, but most days I'll have a niggly headache/feel really tired/ dizziness etc

I don't drink anywhere near enough, can easily get to tea time having had 1-2 cups of mocha and that be it. No water/cold drinks at all Blush. I'm just not really a thirsty person, so I have to remind myself to drink!

Froglette16 · 28/01/2019 23:13

Do you have a carbon monoxide monitor? If no, Get one. In the meantime go to the Gp if you can. If you and your partner are both under the weather it could be something in the house. 🌷🌷🌷

2ellenor2 · 28/01/2019 23:16

I used to feel well till I got pregnant. Now 35 weeks and everyday I feel achy, tired and sore
I am generally really healthy though. Never had any major illness, health condition, never been injured / broke a bone

ILiveInSalemsLot · 28/01/2019 23:20

I feel tired and lethargic a lot.
Down to a lack of sleep and too much carbs and sugar because of it.
I really need to sort it out.

BeekyChitch · 28/01/2019 23:35

I've never felt complete wellness. When I was at my fittest and lightest and was desperately unhappy. I'm now overweight and quite stressed but happy with where I'm at. I never seem to find harmony in my life.

Bluebobolink · 28/01/2019 23:41

There's some kind of weird virus going round that has got a lot of my friends of various ages who normally feel well and full of energy feeling tired and miserable, lacking interest in things and generally out of sorts, even without any cold or similar symptoms. And this with no change to their normal patterns of exercise/diet/work etc. Having said that, drinking more water and getting some fresh air is always a good plan.

Auntiepatricia · 28/01/2019 23:46

I’ve 4 kids under 6 and hell yeah I feel well pretty much always. Now that the youngest is 1 im not fucking pregnant with horrific morning sickness or breastfeeding or dealing with a newborn and herd of toddlers while completely exhausted so it feels GREAT not to be pregnant for a change.

onlyconnect · 29/01/2019 08:25

We do have a carbon monoxide alarm but I guess that wouldn't show low levels. Also the boiler is in a dirt if lean-to, not in main house so it's unlikely to be that.
Although selfishly, I'm slightly comforted that I'm not alone in rarely feeling well, isn't it an awful indictment of modern living?

Those people using iron spray and liquid - do they affect your stomach less than iron tablets ?

treaclesoda · 29/01/2019 08:42

I think the thing is that with the success of modern medicine, and mass media, we feel like the default is that we are meant to feel great, all the time. Bursting with energy, no aches, no pains, no low moods. When in reality it's perfectly normal, natural even, to be a bit stiff and ache-y a lot of the time, to get headaches occasionally etc.

Obviously some people have chronic illnesses which cause them a lot of pain and misery but I think a lot of the low level lack of energy etc is just how life is. I very much doubt that people in past eras felt significantly healthier than we do in 2019.

Lampshadylady · 29/01/2019 08:42

I feel rubbish most of the time. I lose count of the times per day week I say ‘I think I’m getting ill.’

I really need to drink less, eat better and lose weight as I’m bored of feeling shit

PotOOOOOOOO · 29/01/2019 09:29

I feel low-level crap most of the time. I’m constantly tired and something always hurts a bit. Right now I’ve a headache that’s been hanging around for about three days. Not a terrible one mostly but just...there.

Raven88 · 29/01/2019 09:36

I would say I feel well maybe once a week, I have anxiety, a sleep disorder, migraines and a hormone disorder. The HRT I am on makes my anxiety worse most days I am tired as I don't sleep properly. My normal is feeling crap.

Whatdoiwanttohear · 29/01/2019 15:02

I wouldn't say feeling unwell constantly is a by product of modern living, not sure living as a serf in the 14th century would have exactly been a bed of roses, short, sharp and brutal more precisely!
