Ocado and M&S

We ship with Ocado and I saw this about Ocado possibly switching to M&S instead of Waitrose. Would you stick with Ocado if they did?

I think prices might rise which would possibly be the end of Ocado for me.

Shop, not ship.

I’d be very excited about this, as currently make a special weekly trip to M&S due to some of the things they do.

But would be concerned about not being able to get all the basics.

ChesterGreySideboard · 27/01/2019 21:36

They’ve talked about this a lot.

When I first started shopping with Ocado it was when they were part of Waitrose and I would get lots of Waitrose own brand stuff. Thinking about it now I didn’t get anything exclusive to Waitrose in my last order.

Justajot · 27/01/2019 21:39

We get Waitrose own brand for about 25% of our shop.

Interesting!I prefer m and s food I'd be happy with this I think but m and s range is limited. I wonder why they can't do bith.

AlanThePig · 27/01/2019 22:28

Probably spell the end for me. I get a lot of ocado own brand products but I'd reckon half my shop is waitrose own brand.
I just can't get on with M&S food. Try as I might.

GiantKitten · 27/01/2019 22:32

I do a very limited Ocado shop every 2-3 weeks, & it usually includes Waitrose things like their own dry cure bacon & Duchy organic mince.

With very limited access to M&S food where I live I generally only go there on holiday & I'm never particularly impressed Hmm

So it would put me off

BitsOfYellowFallingOff · 27/01/2019 22:34

I'd stop using Ocado if they went to M&S. M&S means ready meals, sandwiches and over packaged veg to me.

NotGenerationAlpha · 27/01/2019 22:38

I would love to get m&s instead. I get waitrose fruit and veg and meat, but there are other options on Ocado. I can’t see what I need that must come from waitrose. I quite like M&S ready meals and often take a special trip there.

ChesterGreySideboard · 27/01/2019 22:38

Ocado own brand fruit and veg is fine.
Would this mean I could get Percy Pigs in my shopping?

diamantegal · 27/01/2019 22:38

Yep, love M&S food, and as long as Ocado continue to do their own brand stuff and tie in with other brands, can't see the issue. And Waitrose do their own home delivery anyway, so could people will presumably either switch to that or stick with Ocado as they're after quality rather than a specific brand.

Can't fault the Ocado drivers or service, so they've got a lot of collateral in the bank if they want to switch suppliers, as long as they keep up the service.

Notreallyhere2 · 27/01/2019 22:48

Yes if it was the same set up as Waitrose I’d be really pleased to have M&S instead. I only use M&S loo roll (and if I could get their weird and wonderful Christmas alcohol) and so it would be so much easier to just use my delivery pass to get everything in one shop.

But if it was in the Morrisons style of using the Ocado system I don’t want that. Even though it should be the same but Morrisons stuff, I can’t get on with the Morrisons app/system as well for some reason.

Dongdingdong · 27/01/2019 23:01

I wasn’t aware of this, but will definitely be ditching Ocado for Waitrose if it goes ahead.

ArseholesOnToast · 27/01/2019 23:18

I wouldn’t stick with Ocado if they stopped doing Waitrose brand. I haven’t shopped in M&S food for a long time as I found the quality had gone downhill. Not tried it recently but to me it’s mainly ready and easy cook meals.

GCAcademic · 27/01/2019 23:20

I would hate this. M&S is just ready meals. I cook most meals from scratch.

MitziK · 27/01/2019 23:31

I like M&S food in terms of the meat, fish and veg, but their major market is in ready meals, which are very expensive. If I had pots of dosh and was right next to one, I'd use it regularly, but not for ordering a month's shopping of basics and staples.

I'll be switching to Waitrose if this goes ahead.

meditrina · 27/01/2019 23:40

I think I would switch to Waitrose Direct if Ocado ended the link up.

I would expect M&S might do better if they 'do a Morrisons' and use Ocado to create their own brand delivery service.

JocastaElastic · 27/02/2019 21:19

The quality of the fruit, veg, meat and fish from Marks and Spencer’s is better than the equivalent from Waitrose. Their bread is also better, however wine from M&S is mostly undrinkable, and their crisps ( with the exception of their cheesy puffs) are abominable!

TakemebacktoClifton · 27/02/2019 21:21

I would love it. I really do prefer M&S food over Waitrose.

WineAndTiramisu · 27/02/2019 21:23

I much prefer M&S over Waitrose, currently shop with ocado and am very excited about the merger! Grin

Ftumch · 27/02/2019 21:24

I think I would end up using Waitrose most of the time. M&S dont have the range and are more expensive.

AuntieStella · 27/02/2019 21:29

With today's announcement, it's time to try Waitrose Direct.

Is there an app for it, or is it only website at the moment? The app is the only thing I think I'd miss

GypsyRoseTea · 27/02/2019 21:29

I would have to leave if they stopped selling Waitrose items. I’ve got a smart pass - wonder how it’ll work

BeardedMum · 27/02/2019 21:32

Would m&s food not be more expensive and their range more limited than Waitrose?

EdWinchester · 27/02/2019 21:35

I love both, so yes.
