Obsolete things

Please can you help me? I’m trying to compile a list of things that are now obselete, like fax machines and VHS tapes. (They don’t have to be technology-based, though.) This is for an amateur film I’m loosely involved in planning.
Thanks!

Just thought of another one: cheque books!

I haven't sent a fax since 1998.

Credit card carbon copy paper swipe machine things.

I was in a shop less than a month ago that was having to use one of these as their internet connection was down. I felt like a time traveller. I got a handwritten receipt as well.

Suspenders for socks! My dad had them. Before elastane and Lycra and their mates, fabrics just didn’t keep their shape as they do now.

MrsMoastyToasty · 26/01/2019 22:26

Telephone boxes- as telephone boxes (I did see a drunk using one as a urinal today, though).

Mercury arc rectifiers! They look really cool but also a tad dangerous.

I use a fax everyday (NHS). We also use cheques.

My patents use vhs and I bought them some new tapes for Christmas.

I still use a phone attached to the wall. I plug it it whenever I have to make a call to a utility or insurance company.

I saw an old lady today in a plastic rain hat - of the type that unfolds from a folded strip and ties under the chin.Haven't seen one for ages- when I was growing up everyone ( it seemed!) had one,and a plastic Mac!

But I still use cheque books and the speaking clock....

Insomnibrat front drum brakes are still alive and well (assuming they are the same as hub brakes) - Pashley still sell trikes with them today. I couldn't describe them as the most effective brakes I've used...

I still use my cheque book regularly when I buy stuff from our local farm shop and three clients of mine still pay me by cheque despite asking them to pay by bank transfer. The vhs tapes from my children's nursery school, etc can also be played in our vhs/dvd player!

Last time I was in Boots I saw sanitary towels with loops and belt. Who uses these? I’m over 50 and I never used them!
