if you met your DH/DP over 30, how quickly did things happen?

Is it true things generally move quicker than in a 20-something relationship?

45 and 50 here and no, not fast as such. Not physically anyway.

Onceupontwotimes · 26/01/2019 16:31

I met my DH a few weeks off being 30. By 31 we were married with a child!

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 26/01/2019 16:33

At 42 met dh on a Saturday night, never had a night apart in over 6 years.
Had ds 22 months after meeting and married when he was ten months.

TagliatelleNests · 26/01/2019 16:39

Thanks!

Depends on the circumstances - if you’re wanting to have DCs then I guess yes, it’s likely that things will move faster in your late 30s/40s as the old biological clock is ticking. If you’ve both already had DCs in previous relationships, things probably move slower so as not to disrupt them.

TagliatelleNests · 26/01/2019 16:45

Yeah I want children. I'm not late thirties yet so hopefully this is the year.

We met for first time in August, moved in in December. We got married after a year and a half and have now been together for almost 4 years. We have been trying for children for a while now as he is 39 and I am 37

Frazzled2207 · 26/01/2019 16:47

Met him a month after my 30th.
Moved in after a year, engaged after 2, married after 3, pregnant after 4, baby after 5, pregnant after 6, baby after 7.
Now wondering what happens next (no more babies!)

NC4Now · 26/01/2019 16:47

Met DH at 33, engaged after 9 months, married the next year, working through a divorce at 42.
Don’t rush things. Get to know each other.

Beamur · 26/01/2019 16:49

Bit of both.
Asked me on 2nd date how I felt about having kids.
Several dates before anything physical.
Gradually moved in, can't really remember when (left shared house I co-owned, so I didn't have to sell/stop renting).
Child together after 4 years.
Got married 8 years after child arrived.
We got slower as time has passed!

Neolara · 26/01/2019 16:52

I met DH aged 33. We were married 13 months later and Dc1 arrived exactly 9 months after the wedding.

mouthkisses · 26/01/2019 16:55

Met just before my 30th birthday. Engaged after 9 months, married a year after that. Immediately had a baby and then another a couple of years after that. So married with two kids 5 years after meeting.

nervousFTM · 26/01/2019 21:03

Met when I was 33 and a half (he's a year older), got together on my 34th birthday, married just over two years later and had a baby just over two years after that. It feels quite fast! All of this done before 5 years together.

LittleScottieDog · 26/01/2019 21:08

I was 28 but DH was 39. Took us ten years to get married and have a kid!

rookiemere · 26/01/2019 21:11

Met when I was 33, engaged within 9 months, married within 18 months, DS after another 8 months.
He asked pretty early on if I wanted to have DCs so we were both on the same page. I don't think if we'd met each other earlier we'd have become a couple, took us both a bit of time in life to realise what mattered most in a relationship

When you put it like that Shock

At times I wish I met a nice boy at a dance when I was 16

Met when I was 32 and he was 36. Lived together pretty much after a week 😮. Married 3 years later. DS 2 years after that.

It took a long time to conceive and we were about to do iVF.

Squickety · 26/01/2019 21:15

I was 37 1/2 when we met. We were married by the time I was 38. So in my experience, yes!

ThriftyMcThrifty · 26/01/2019 21:20

I was slightly younger but kissed for the first time at my 29th birthday party, emigrated together six months later, three months pregnant by our year anniversary. Now married and pregnant with baby three, after nine years together.

leaveby10 · 26/01/2019 21:24

Met dh when I was 29 - married within 6 months...had kids 3 years later! That was nearly 20 years ago - still happy.

nervousFTM · 26/01/2019 21:44

How old are you OP? I think things moved much quicker with me and DH because we were in our mid 30s when we met.

We were engaged at 18 months, before we had even moved in together. I think things can move pretty swiftly in 30s as you are more likely to want to settle down plus have kissed a few frogs so hopefully know what you're after by then x

2isabella2 · 26/01/2019 21:52

Did for us. We were 31 and 34 when we met. Married after a year. First baby a year later and second 18months later. A good few years on now and couldn't be happier.

SarahAndQuack · 26/01/2019 21:52

I met DP when I was 31 and she was 34. Moved in together in March, went to the fertility clinic in May nine months after we met, and got the positive test on our first anniversary.

We partly had our skates on because everyone told us that fertility treatment takes years because of the pressure on clinics and the endless waits for appointments, so we'd assumed we'd be ages hanging around. As it happened, we were able to take a string of queue-jump appointments where someone else had cancelled, so it was very fast. We only found out later, when we went back to try again, that we'd skipped over a few of the steps that are usually mandatory!

I would never changed my DD for the world and she was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I was younger (23) now DH was 38. Divorced and had issues. He failed to invest in our relationship properly at first. Went gallavanting about On holidays with mates. Had a girlfriend on the side. I left him. The once confirmed bachelor came knocking on my door - proposed. Married at 26 & 41. First baby 27/42 next one 28/43. Been together 8 years.
