Onatreebyariver · 26/01/2019 09:04

Ex-ma

I hear a lot of ex-eeee-ma in Scotland. God it grinds my gears for some reason.

BigusBumus · 26/01/2019 09:04

Ex-Mah

It makes me feel weird when I hear people say Ex-zee-mah, like when people say Thee- Etta for theatre.

lubeybooby · 26/01/2019 09:04

ecksma

babysharkah · 26/01/2019 09:05

I've only heard Scottish friends say x zee ma.

It's x ma to me. I don't know how you can get x zee ma out of it!

littlemeitslyn · 26/01/2019 09:15

Ex zee ma

treaclesoda · 26/01/2019 09:16

Ex-em-a to me.

Mewe · 26/01/2019 09:17

X-ma.

ShadyLady53 · 26/01/2019 09:18

Ecksma but my Scottish family members say Eckzeema (and it’s secretly like nails down a chalkboard to me). I’m sure the way I say it irritates them too!

MonsterChopz · 26/01/2019 09:27

Maybe that's why I say eckzeema - I'm Scottish!

adaline · 26/01/2019 09:31

X-ma.

GertrudeWilloughby · 26/01/2019 09:36

Ex-muh

FurzeandHarebells · 26/01/2019 09:37

I’m Scottish and I say ex-i-ma.

I hear ex-eema quite frequently though.

Wolfcub · 26/01/2019 09:38

Ex-e-ma

MargotLovedTom1 · 26/01/2019 09:47

I ask because a colleague said "Eckzeema" yesterday and I had to stop myself from saying "What?! It's ECKSMA!" He's not Scottish either.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 26/01/2019 09:50

X-ma
Have started to hear ec zeema more and more though

SmallButFierce · 26/01/2019 10:04

I say it eks-uh-ma but the middle syllable is really subtle so it would sound more like eks-ma if you’re not listening carefully.
