If I'm in very familiar company I've been known to say "fuck me, my nipples could cut glass" Blush

PavlovianLunge · 24/01/2019 18:34

Colder than a witch’s undercarriage.
Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.
Taters. (Potatoes in the mold = cold.)
Perishing.
Cold as charity.

PavlovianLunge · 24/01/2019 18:38

A friend from Shropshire uses starving to mean cold. He said it was quite commonplace, but I’d never heard it before, so I assumed it was a regional thing.

Stupomax · 24/01/2019 18:46

Here they say 'It's breezed up' when it's actually -25C.

Stupomax · 24/01/2019 18:48

I am 1900 and frozen to death

Similar here in Maine - "It ain’t been this cold since Eighteen-hundred-and-froze-to-death."

Charleymouse · 24/01/2019 18:50

Colder than the hairs on a polar bears chuff.
So cold nipples look like chapel hat pegs.
Oh no snow!
Variations on the brass monkey.

donajimena · 24/01/2019 18:50

Knobbling is a Welsh favourite

UrbaneSprawl · 24/01/2019 18:53

'Cold as a wizard's wotsit' (my DF)
'Not exactly bloody sultry' (DGF)

CocoMadwoman · 24/01/2019 19:11

It’s chapping out there (or just ‘chappers/chaps’)....I think this is a London thing, never heard it anywhere else

Witch’s tits or witch’s nips

Feilin · 24/01/2019 19:46

Foundered! Thats one used a lot here " christ im foundered"

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 24/01/2019 20:04

@Alanamackaree the brass monkeys were the rings the (cannon) balls sat on, and the cold weather contracted the brass so the balls fell off the ring

ilovepixie · 24/01/2019 20:10

I saw a good one the other day.
It's Motown weather, it's 3 degrees and I've got 4 Tops on lol

UrsulaPandress · 24/01/2019 20:14

Perishing
Nithered
Chillled to the bone.

I don't understand the 1900 one.

RumDo · 24/01/2019 20:38

Coldy coldy custard, dip y’nose in the mustard!

Frlrlrubert · 24/01/2019 20:44

In our house we have 'it's fucking brrr' and brrr-by mc-brrrr brrrrr'

Also 'it's -20 in Pershore' from a few years ago when it was the coldest place in the country one winter and the topic of conversation locally.

DareDevil223 · 24/01/2019 21:12

My dear old dad used to say 'cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey' often shortened to just 'brass monkeys' Smile

MyBreadIsEggy · 24/01/2019 21:16

Nice and simple in our house:

“It’s cold as dick!”

(But then again, everything is described “as dick” Hmm ie “he’s old as dick”, “it’s hot as dick” Hmm DH is military and it’s some kind of shit phrase that originated at work, he’s brought it home, and it’s stuck!)

Spongebob79 · 24/01/2019 21:23

Colder than the ace of spades ♠️

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 24/01/2019 21:30

Where I come from originally, up in the NE near Newcastle, when it got to about -25 degrees we would sometimes hear something like

'it's cold (pronounced caaaaa(l)d) enough to put a jumper on.'

A northerner mentioning the possibility of needing to wear something over their t-shirt indicates it is well below freezing.

Nippy,
Parky,
A bit caaaaaald, (with or without the 'l' depending on exactly which part of the NE you are from, )
A lot of the others already mentioned like Brass Monkeys etc.

LunchBoxPolice · 24/01/2019 21:32

I say it's chilly con carne when it's cold.

Elephantina · 24/01/2019 21:37

It's that cold I've just bumped into a brass monkey crying it's eyes out. (credited to Del boy)

NutElla5x · 24/01/2019 21:40

"I'm bivvered" meaning I'm absolutely freezing (South West expression, possibly?)

DragginBallsEEEE · 24/01/2019 22:17

It's fucking baltic
It would freeze the balls of a brass monkey
Would freeze the nips off ye out there
I'm foundered
