Just been reading the thread about living in Australia and how racist they are now and obviously us and the States are always in the firing line.
So which countries do you consider non racist. Possibly Brazil?

@Parthenope well I don't look Latina. People don't know what to think of me when they see me. I can pass for anything as I'm very fair and have light brown hair. Dh says I look Italian. And if that's not racism than what is?

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD of course Americans are a race. Please look up the definition of race sir. I don't like trump myself. But for someone to hear my voice and make me feel that way just because they assume I'm american is racist. I'd never hear an English person and say to them "white trash britt." Lol what?! Anyway doesn't bother me. I just laugh it off.

Basing it on the things that were said to them @Racecardriver it had nothing to with them being British immigrants thus xenophobia and everything to do with their skin colour and/or correct or incorrect perceptions as to what religion they practice

Sussex not racist? Seriously? I moved here from London and am shocked at both the overt racism and the day-to-day comments from seemingly nice normal people. The attitudes to Eastern Europeans are disgusting.

What do you mean oz is racist now?
I went about 20 years ago and it was extraordinary how racist white oz were to aborigines!!

It was really dreadful and shocking.
I have blonde friend living in China who has been spat at numerous times, pushed... Shoved etc.
I could give examples from all over the the world sadly.
I think bustling commercial centers like London, New York, Paris will always be more cosmopolitan and accepting.
Anywhere that's been cut off and not used to human flow eg Eastern Europe will be more afraid of anything and anyone who seems different.

@Choccywoccyhooha

I think people get suckered by the Brighton pride march and such

Because you don't get racist gays Hmm

Also, Brighton is the capital of Sussex, y'know, the rest of the county (counties but who's counting?) are just Brighton suburbs Grin

Also, UKIP voters are outlawed, they get sent on stage coach buses back to Kent from whence they came

I agree that people in Sussex have something to say about Eastern Europeans. I think that’s understandable given Poland only joined the EU in 2004 and then there was a massive influx in a relatively short time to Sussex’s costal towns. I don’t think it would have mattered where the migration came from really, just that it had a colossal impact over short space of time.

I wouldn’t say as a mixed race person I have noticed racism. But you do notice generally that there isn’t anyone Afro Caribbean

I thought Brazil seemed pretty equitable although sexism was more of an issue than race in my opinion.

I would have thought London would welcome my Greek friend who left our service in West Yorkshire to work in a similar service in London. She's experienced open racism from service users there, including being spat on and being told to fuck off home.
