Mad. It's really quite chilly in London today (was 2 degrees).

OP posts:

There's always one.

I did my best Nanook of the North impression for the school run, as did the dc (-3 according to outside thermometer). 'Twas bloody icy too.

StarlightLady · 22/01/2019 11:16

But would a woman with a skirt, bare legs and sandals get the same reaction?

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2019 11:25

I would raise an eyebrow at that Starlight. Especcially bare legs in this weather.

I saw a man in a vest top/shorts and a bobble hat yesterday. Brrrr. But his head was warm.

MyFriendGoo5 · 22/01/2019 11:27

Legs don't get cold tho.

My arms do but lower half is always fine

Keepingtabsonyou · 22/01/2019 11:27

WTF kind of nonsense derail is this Confused.

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2019 11:28

If I went outside now in a pair of shorts my legs would be cold.

lljkk · 22/01/2019 11:30

Mad or very Bad (in the cool sense of the word, I guess)!

Asta19 · 22/01/2019 11:30

I find that every year, as soon as we get a hint of sunshine, people strip off. He clearly looked out the window and thought "oh it's sunny" without taking any notice of the actual temperature!

watt36 · 22/01/2019 11:37

Hahaha. I'm in Australia and can never figure out how Aussies just ignore the cold. Even in winter the kids roll in to school in shorts and t shirts. There's me wrapping my kids in scarves and hats. Maybe the guy was Aussie!

HPface · 22/01/2019 11:40

I saw a guy the other day wearing shorts and flip flops but also one of those trapper hats. Maybe he saw a mixed weather forecast and was covering for all eventualities.

Bunnyhop1502 · 22/01/2019 11:41

My first thought was probably an Aussie Grin

PerkingFaintly · 22/01/2019 11:43

It'll be my ParcelForce postie on his day off.

7salmonswimming · 22/01/2019 11:49

Isn’t it an internet thing? People on the tube/subway with no trousers?

Oddly, people post photos of themselves sitting on public transport wearing no trousers, or totally weather inappropriate clothes, ideally cheek by jowl with people who are appropriately dressed.

Yeah, me neither 🤷‍♀️

Moreisnnogedag · 22/01/2019 11:51

He’s a physiotherapist. Am impressed by their steadfast refusal to ever wear trousers to work.

HeathRobinson · 22/01/2019 11:55

'Legs don't get cold tho.'

Tell that to mine!

Vinorosso74 · 22/01/2019 12:00

I drove past a park where a woman was doing yoga in leggings and a cropped top!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/01/2019 12:31

I went jogging this morning. It was very frosty and icy. I passed a man walking the dog in shorts and tshirt. I was running and wearing a jacket, hat and gloves.

amusedbush · 22/01/2019 12:41

My colleague is from California and he wears flip flops all year, even in the rain. He says it's easier to dry wet feet than wet socks.

It wouldn't be me, that's for sure!

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 22/01/2019 12:44

My son is like that, he works outdoors and seldom feels the cold, I don't think he even possesses a coat. Even as a child he was a hot bod who hated coats and was always dressed for spring.

InAPreviousLife · 22/01/2019 13:20

My cousin lives in shorts and flip flops! I think the only trousers he has are the ones he wears to funerals and weddings.

He's Welsh, so I can't even say it's a habit from summer because with the exception of last year summer is only for about a week where we're from!

goose1964 · 22/01/2019 13:45

This is really common where I live and seems to be linked to the rugby club, wearing shorts in all weathers is something they're used to

chemenger · 22/01/2019 13:53

I work in a university and we used to have a student ho wore shorts and flip flops year round in Scotland. I did ask him about it and he said he just didn’t feel the cold.
On the other hand, here in the US I was queuing to get in a museum yesterday behind a couple of teenagers in jeans and a denim jackets. It was -14 here, with wind chill making it feel like -27 C. They were cold. Their mother was in a proper winter coat, hat and gloves. The words “I told you so” may have passed her lips.

FlyingwithBaby · 22/01/2019 13:55

He was probably a Kiwi!!!

StarlightLady · 22/01/2019 15:16

A rather serious sounding response to a lighthearted comment on an equally lighthearted subject don’t you think?

Oblomov19 · 22/01/2019 15:33

Not that unusual. Ds2 wears shorts to school all year round.
