Mad. It's really quite chilly in London today (was 2 degrees).

Maybe he's from Liverpool or Newcastle? Grin

I've seen a surprising number of women on the tube this week with bare legs - funnily enough not so many men feel the need to come to work with their legs out. Though there's a teacher at DD's school who is in shorts pretty much all year round - you known when it's really cold when he's in trackie bottoms and a parka - happens a couple of times a winter, max.

BusterTheBulldog · 22/01/2019 15:44

It does drive me mad this judgement of people. I quite often still go bare legs for work, or a night out, I’m generally only outside for a few mins at a time - I WONT GET COLD!

I also still wear shorts and vest to gym and running, sometimes I’ll pop into the shops on way back, you would think I was wearing a live crocodile on my back for the ‘concerned’ looks I get, who cares???! I don’t judge people for wearing coats in the summer, it doesn’t affect me.

People wear different clothes / have different body temperatures shocker.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 22/01/2019 15:44

A lot of men I’ve worked with over the years were knee length shorts in all weather types. They didn’t wear flip flops though, it was big steel toe cap boots all year round too.

Possibly this chap just flew in from somewhere hot. There’s always a few people you see in passport control whose outfits made perfect sense at their point of departure, but not so much at Heathrow in winter.

PerkingFaintly · 22/01/2019 16:46

Goodness, I'm not judging you, Buster.

Boggling, yes, but not judging.Grin

I come over all concerned and guilty when I see my ParcelForce chappy out in the cold with bare legs, all for the sake of my parcel of tat, while I snuggle closer to my hot water bottle on the sofa. But I've managed to restrain myself from enquiring whether he's wearing a vest and does he look after his chilblains...

IDontLikeZombies · 22/01/2019 16:51

Happens all the time in Glasgow, the only time I've not seen people (usually young men) cutting about in their simmit and shorts was last year when we had the red weather warning - risk of imminent death was the only thing that stopped them Grin

It goes the other way too - even when its roasting there is a significant proportion of the population (usually older women) still in their overcoats.
There's an anthropological study waiting to be done.

Jess74 · 22/01/2019 16:59

I bet he was South African. At the mere sight of sun they're always the first in flip flops and shorts where we live. I admire their optimism. Grin

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 22/01/2019 17:01

Probably Canadian. Well hard. +2 is practically summer.

Tarateri · 22/01/2019 17:05

I pretty much live in shorts, even in the snow! I just don't feel the cold that much on my legs.

HelmutFrontbut · 22/01/2019 17:06

Zombies, old ladies ALWAYS need their overcoats 😂

I live in a very hot country and the locals always switch to winter clothes at the beginning of October despite the temperature only dropping from 30c to 28c. They all walk round in puffa jackets Confused

Orchidflower1 · 22/01/2019 17:08

I saw a teenager in the coop with flip flops on!

BoatyMcBoatFace2 · 22/01/2019 17:10

It's 'Wear Your Pants On The Tube' day today isn't it?

BoatyMcBoatFace2 · 22/01/2019 17:11

It's for charity

rwalker · 22/01/2019 17:12

still in shorts here

SingingSands · 22/01/2019 17:13

That'll be my son Ina few years. He wears shorts all year round and hates wearing socks and shoes!

He's already moaning that he can't wear shorts when he goes up to high school this year!

WickedGoodDoge · 22/01/2019 17:14

We’re in Scotland and DS(16) wears shorts much of the time. No flip flops, though. He doesn’t seem to feel the cold. He works p/t as a swim coach and swims a fair amount as well and I think he can’t see the point in changing out of poolside clothes. Grin

ginyogarepeat · 22/01/2019 17:21

Some boys and girls in my DC's school are still in shorts (no flip flops though). Wind chill factor was making it feel like -3 today....

ALongHardWinter · 22/01/2019 17:37

He was probably doing it for a bet.

BikeRunSki · 22/01/2019 17:42

-2 in West Yorkshire this morning. Dd(7) acquiesced to the house rule that she needs to wear trousers to school rather than her usual shorts, when the temp goes below 4 degrees.

She wore trousers to breakfast club. Upon arrival she took her shorts out of her bag and said “you only said I had to wear trousers to school, now I am at school i’m putting shorts on”. She was still in them when I picked her up. Seems happy enough though.

costacoffeecup · 22/01/2019 18:22

Bet he's from northern Scotland. My friend from the Black Isle didn't own a coat. His concession to the freezing cold Scottish winters was a rugby shirt.

IDontLikeZombies · 22/01/2019 18:46

Costa, I have a pal like that, too, - always wears a t shirt. I once met him in a howling blizzard and his one concession was a long sleeved shirt - I was full wee old wummin in my overcoat, hat, gloves, furry boots, thermal vest, etc, etc, etc Grin
