Has anyone had a stomach cramp type bug recently?

I’ve had bad stomach cramps for the last couple of days combined with occasionally having to rush to the loo but no proper diarrhoea. Has anyone else had this recently? Trying to work out if it’s a bug or if I’ve accidentally eaten something that I have an intolerance to.

My ds had this last week, Mon -Thurs. He felt properly miserable but since he 'only' had a stomach ache we made him go to school. He didn't do after school activities and I got him excused off games (he's sport mad so it wasnt a ruse to get off games).

Notmychicken · 21/01/2019 18:37

Hope you feel better soon!

Yep. 3 days of the horrible stomach cramps, was just waiting for the onset of D&V but it never materialised thank god. Felt bloody awful though!

Finding this weirdly reassuring. It’s so strange - such a sore tummy.

Yes, a couple of weeks ago

I call it a "stomach flu"

Kezzie200 · 21/01/2019 19:58

I know someone who did. Vomiting inc blood. Ended up in a and e for 6 hours on fluids.

She's OK now.

It wasnt food as we ate exactly the same and were all OK

bonniebanks · 21/01/2019 20:01

I have it just now as does my husband, he's a bit worse off though as he has ulcerative colitis where as I just have the weird stomach pains, pounding headache and a general sicky feeling. Hope it buggers off soon!

Anonalongadingdong123 · 21/01/2019 20:01

Yes! And it keeps coming and going. Stomach pains and nausea, sore head and tiredness. My DS has it too. No actual sickness or diarrhoea. Had it for a week now.

BitOfAKerfuffle · 21/01/2019 20:03

Glad i've seen this ! Same symptoms from wed....will just get really intense cramps in stomach and need to rush to toilet and feeling a little but queasy but not overally bad throughout the day although i am having a little bit of diarrhoea. that was from wed through to yesterday still feeling a little delicate in the stomach area today but not as bad and havent had any intense cramps or rushing to toilet today was wondering the same if i had developed some sort of intolerance or if it was a bug !

YesitsJacqueline · 21/01/2019 20:03

Oh OP yes I've had it! It was really ' stop and start' iykwim. Had shivers on and off, slight sore throat, cough and bunged up nose. But the cramps were awful really painful. I think I'm over it now but it was very odd

PurpleDaisies · 21/01/2019 20:03

Yes-it’s no fun at all

Palestperson · 21/01/2019 20:15

I keep thinking I’m ok and then the soreness ramps up again. Haven’t got much appetite.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2019 20:15

The "cramps" I had actually felt like really intense hunger pains but I couldn't eat.

formerbabe · 21/01/2019 20:18

How weird...I had this last week. No vomiting...some diarrhoea (sorry tmi) but horrendous stomach cramps. Was horrible.

Palestperson · 21/01/2019 21:04

I’m so glad it’s not just me! But now worried that I’ll pass it on to DS and I don’t want that. TMI warning: although I haven’t had proper diarrhoea, I have had urgency and some fairly ‘loose’ episodes, and just generally needing to go or feeling like I need to go a lot.

If my period was due I’d think that the stomach pain was down to PMT.

I've had exactly the same. Started with being physically sick, just once, then the cramps started half an hour later. And oh my word, the pain. Couldn't sleep and was lying in bed wondering whether I should call 111 ! I have diverticulitis so wasn't sure if it could have been a flare up although it didn't feel quite the same as normal.

Completely lost my appetite but felt massively bloated. I eventually went to the doctor and even asked if it was just crippling trapped wind but she was concerned it could be e flare so gave me antibiotics. I had no energy and sobbed around the house for 4 days which is totally out of character for me. To be honest though 6 days later I'm still uncomfortable although nowhere near as bad as I was. I tend to go from diarrhoea to constipation too which is a bit random. And when I do 'release wind' it feels such a relief temporarily!

Sounds like there is some sort of general bug going round...

Foonababoonalagoona · 21/01/2019 22:59

Have you taken antibiotics recently OP ?

Omzlas · 21/01/2019 23:14

My and DD took it in turns, over 12 hours, puking into a bucket. I ended up dry wretching towards the end as there was nothing left in me. Grim is the word.

I felt ok ish the next day, took it easy and napped a lot

Day after I was fine, carried on as normal

The day after, wiped OUT. I spent all day on the sofa.

I now have a lingering dry cough that hurts my ribs and throat but at no point did I have diarrhoea, just a bit 'loose'

I swear I saw the light though, it was vile and I can't remember the last time I felt that ill

rainingcats · 21/01/2019 23:18

Yes - I had this a few weeks ago I have never felt quite so rough as I did that week. Stomach cramps were almost like early labour pains - coming in waves and quite intense. I was also incredibly shivery and cold. Struggled to eat for over a week as the cramps kept coming and going

jobbyjobson · 21/01/2019 23:23

I've had this the last few days - stomach cramps and back ache as if I'm about to come on. No actual D&V but lots more toilet trips than usual - sorry tmi!
To the person that asked if you'd been on antibiotics can I ask why? I've been on 3 lots for a stubborn ear infection, would this cause the stomach issues? Sorry to hijack!

Palestperson · 21/01/2019 23:49

No antibiotics here. They can cause stomach issues though - I remember it well from a stubborn chest infection.

Me too

Senga67 · 21/01/2019 23:53

Started on Saturday. Terribly sore tummy and headache and generally feeling rough.
Feeling a bit better now though.

YesitsJacqueline · 22/01/2019 09:54

I forgot about the fatigue and lethargy

Loyaultemelie · 22/01/2019 10:27

Yes now. It's not fun and I keep waiting for worse to come (d/v)
