How did you celebrate your 40th?

Didn’t really celebrate my 39th as we were about to get married. Always said I would go to NYC for my 40th, but for various reasons this isn’t happening. But now I’m stuck for ideas, as everything seems like a waste of money as it’s nit NYC!
How did you celebrate yours/plan to celebrate? Inspire me please! (Or what would you do differently?!)

Nothing. All my family forgot/ignored.
DP was on call and Toad is ASD so was happy in his room as usual.

Outdoor picnic party on the day, with ample booze.
Holiday later on, 2 weeks around Basque country , amazing

I didn't want a big party as I wouldn't get enough time to spend with the people I loved. So instead I asked to spend time individually with loved ones. It was amazing and ended up with a birthday month! I was taken for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, Harry potter world, and had an amazing time.

Oh that does sound lovely and kind of what I've started thinking about tonight.

DH took me to London , we went first class on the train , he"d made reservations at The Ivy and we pent 2 days seeing the sights . That was in school holidays just prior to my birthday (restricted to timing as I'm a teacher) but was in Birthday month.

I'm an identical twin our DC (4 each)!are very different ages mine older than hers and she didn't want a party that we be in the evening as she, quite rightly, wanted to celebrate with them. So we had a lovely lunch think maybe 20odd people were given a back room and great deal on house Prosecco and fixed prize menu.

That night I had a cocktail party in my house hired a company to come and do the cocktails. It was amazing .50ths are underway in my social circle but DH and I are youngest by a few years.

Always intended to do NYC in the middle of our 50th year but I cannot see it happening due to supporting 4 DDs through uni. Maybe 60 Sad
