The button bit unscrews and various other sized buttons can be screwed on in its place. Any ideas anyone?

I hope you find out what it's for. I would have to know!

DonkeyPunch88 · 16/01/2019 21:52

I second previous suggestions of demanding he show you what's on it when he returns from work trip. Could be pretty innocent but after how you described him at the start of your relationship, he sounds like I'd never fully trust him

CosmicComet · 16/01/2019 21:57

Following as I’m nosy and really want to know what’s going on! It’s definitely a spy cam by the look of it. Or maybe a dash cam?

GinZing · 16/01/2019 21:58

talkingaboutpeople.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/cutting-off-hidden-cameras/
Looks like it is a spy cam

Teagoanngoanngoann · 16/01/2019 22:02

Yeah just google image searched and its coming up with home security cameras. I would just ask him. Hi ... how are you? Was hunting for cash to pay the cleaner and found your home security cameras... why have you got these? Should be able to tell from his response coz you will have caught him off guard. There may be a perfectly simple explanation Hmm. Good luck Flowers

EnidButton · 17/01/2019 00:48

I think the most telling thing really is that you felt suspicious about them straight away and posted here instead of just shrugging and asking him what they are when he got home which is what most people in a secure/happy marriage would do. I think.

Are things worse between you than you've said? Because apart from the very iffy behaviour at the start, everything else sounds fine and innocent.

Just wondering what made your mind go straight to "this means something bad"? Not saying you're wrong or anything just pondering.

PoliticalBiscuit · 17/01/2019 00:57

I'd go and find a local computer company and ask for their help cracking in.

My biggest concern would be that he was not filming inside my home, but in other nefarious places - it's not uncommon and is a horrific invasion of privacy. Toilets, schools etc.

It's possible he likes checking up on you when he's working away if he's a bit of an odd sort? ('re letter at your parents house etc) So creepy and awful, but at least not perverted.

TinselAndKnickers · 17/01/2019 00:58

This has made my heart fall out my arse. How unsettling. Hoping it’s innocent OP, another vote here for demanding he tell you the password and you, yourself, see what’s on it.

MrsJDornan · 17/01/2019 07:17

I think asking him like you said is the best option, it could be from a long time ago or could be linked to the cleaner, until you ask I guess it could be anything Thanks

WhatTheFlipIsThis · 17/01/2019 07:31

I really don’t think it’s anything perverted. Much more likely he’s just being nosey and seeing what I’m up to. But I’ve never cheated or done anything really that I can imagine would make him feel the need to spy on me.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 17/01/2019 12:16

It doesn’t make it better if it’s not perverted.

Nala8 · 18/01/2019 18:24

Have you not asked him yet what it's for?

SarahET · 18/01/2019 18:30

What did he say OP?

WhatTheFlipIsThis · 18/01/2019 18:58

I haven’t seen him yet. He won’t be back until midnightish so I’ll ask him in the morning. I still have no idea what it’s all about.

OP posts:
TougheningUp · 18/01/2019 19:05

I wouldn't ask him. I'd find out what was on that hard drive first. Because once you've asked him he is warned, and if there's anything dodgy there it'll be deleted quick as anything.

Copy the hard drive. It's easy to do. Then you can put everything back where it belongs and find out what's involved before you do anything.

SilverySurfer · 18/01/2019 19:06

If it's all so innocent why have you not seen them before and why is it password protected?

I hope you get satisfactory answers from your DH, OP.

EggysMom · 18/01/2019 19:16

If it were in our house, it would simply be that DH or I saw it in a charity shop / car boot sale and thought "that might be useful one day" Smile

WhatTheFlipIsThis · 18/01/2019 19:43

That’s what I’d really like to think eggsy. Dh does like his gadgets and if I saw something similar in a shop relatively cheaply I’d possibly get it and have a fanny around with it.

But dh doesn’t do secondhand or shopping for any reason other than necessity. It’s also clearly been set up and used at some point and it’s never been mentioned to me. Even if I did get one out of curiosity I’d show dh, or at least mention it, to dh when I had a look at the results.

It’s just odd. There have been a few, very minor things that dh has mentioned over the years that I’ve never been quite able to work out. And his behaviour at the start of our relationship has always niggled at the back of my mind.

But then again, as I said our relationship isn’t great at the moment. Which I mostly feel is down to him being completely uninterested in me. Which also wouldn’t fit with someone possibly spying on me.

WhatTheFlipIsThis · 18/01/2019 19:46

I’ve hidden the bits I’ve found in my bag. The room he keeps them in is next to our bedroom. He always takes a ridiculous amount of time in there and the bathroom faffing about before bed. I’m going to pretend to be asleep when he gets in and listen to try and hear if he goes rummaging in those drawers. Hopefully he won’t and it will be something from ages ago he’s forgotten all about.

..

beansontoastfortea · 18/01/2019 19:56

Good luck OP... make sure you've hid them well enough so he doesn't find them... how are you going to approach him about it? Or are you going to try and see what's on them first?

Japonicaisstillahorsygirl · 18/01/2019 19:58

Good luck

ohwownosnow · 18/01/2019 20:12

Oh OP. I hope it's innocent

icelollycraving · 18/01/2019 20:21

Good luck. Your whole relationship beginning sounds worrying. Hope you’re ok. Is there anyway he could have set up some kind of security on your phone? Change passwords etc.

SparklyMagpie · 18/01/2019 20:23

Good luck OP

I wouldn't be able to think straight if I was in this situation. Given me the creeps
