I know it's painfully dull but I have to ask.
I have had iphone's for years and am now due to upgrade and am wondering whether to try something new.
If you don't have an Iphone and you LOVE your phone can you tell me what it is?
I use a fair amount of data and texts but don't make that many calls.

My husband moved from his iPhone to a google pixel 2. He loves it, he did get the xl one though, but he wished he just the normal one as it’s too big to fit into his work trousers.

Look at the Huweai range. Very good and much cheaper than others.

dementedpixie · 16/01/2019 07:59

We've always had Samsung. Currently have the S7 (have had it a while)

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 16/01/2019 08:02

I've just changed from 10 years of iPhone (most recently 8+) to the Samsung 9+. The only thing I miss is apple pay but that is only because I bank with barclays and so have to use their app on android. It works fine - I just can't have my husbands Barclays account on it as well. He pays for all my fuel so its a pain when I need to top up.
Other than that and the slightly different keyboard meaning I make lots of typos at the mo the phone itself is great.

I've got the Google Pixel 3, I love it. Does everything I want, how it should, and the photos are amazing!

whatswithtodaytoday · 16/01/2019 08:04

I've never had an iPhone, but had Samsungs until last year. I got fed up with their bloatware so moved to a OnePlus 5T (recommended by very tech-savvy BIL) and it's the best phone I've ever had.

gingercat02 · 16/01/2019 08:06

I have a Samsung A5. Best phone I have ever had. Big screen, loads of memory, current contract with ee £15 pcm. 1gb data unlimited texts (No idea on calls but not an issue to you either apparently)

Nice big bright screen, android, does everything I need it too. What's not to love. Also it's nice n pretty and a Purple/black colour

SillyBub · 16/01/2019 08:11

I've just got the Pixel 3 after having the original Pixel for 2 years. I love it. When my upgrade was due, there was no question I was going to get another Pixel.

Nothingoriginalhere · 16/01/2019 08:16

I have a Samsung S7 edge which I've had nearly 2 years after approx 10 yrs of iPhones! I wouldn't go back to iPhones and would like the s9 or the New s10 that comes out next month.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 16/01/2019 08:18

I was told that iPhones are much more secure. Apparently huawei etc much easier to hack.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 16/01/2019 08:18

I was Apple through and through for a long time until I was convinced by the guy in the shop to get a Huawei. No regrets here.

VanGoghsDog · 16/01/2019 08:19

Nokia 7plus, loved it!

The OnePlus range is good too, but the Nokia was cheaper.

Minniemagoo · 16/01/2019 08:24

S9+ and it's fab. Got DD a Huawei and actually really impressed at how good it is for the much cheaper cost, great camera on it too. Not enough to tempt me away from my Samsung but good all the same.
Dh has an iPhone (work) and it annoys me that so much is not compatible or is Apple specific whereas android seems to give more options.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 16/01/2019 08:24

I moved about 3mo ago from an iPhone 6 to a Huawei Mate 20 Lite. I have been an iPhone user for many years and do have a MacBook, so things were never going to be as smooth as using two Apple products. I only chose the Huawei because I was looking for a cheap option (DH upgraded his contract but kept is old iPhone 10), as I wasn't sure I'd like Android and didn't want to be paying loads if I went back to the iPhone.

  • It was a pig to get my historical WhatsApp messages across from the iPhone to Android. Easy to set up WhatsApp but I wanted my historical messages. That took about a week, lots of Googling, then I found an app for £5 that did it.
  • I've moved everything over to Google - contacts, calendar, notes (Google Keep is rubbish compared to Apple Notes!).

Going forward, now I know I don't mind Android... I'd like a Google Pixel phone and I will eventually replace the MacBook with a Chromebook (mainly due to cost as the MacBooks are way too expensive now). Not that I want to go back to Windows, but a Windows/Android/Google combo will probably integrate more smoothly.

I guess it took a week or so to get things how I wanted them. I like the customisation options and the widgets on the home screen (those might be Huawei, not sure). Either way, I don't think I'll be going back to an iPhone.

isthismylifenow · 16/01/2019 08:25

Huawei P20, and the new Mate 20 does look very nice too.

Mmmmdanone · 16/01/2019 08:25

Moto g5 here.

DonnaDarko · 16/01/2019 08:26

I moved from IPhone to a OnePlus 5t about a year ago. Never looking back, I love this phone. My next upgrade will probably be to a 6t.

LeslieYep · 16/01/2019 08:39

I love my OnePlus. It's 2 years old now and still as quick as ever, holds charge etc. DH has the next model up and that's quite sparkly too!

They stand up very well (if not better) against the bigger names and are usually 30% of the price.

Vickbas · 16/01/2019 09:03

I moved from an iPhone to a Huawei mate 10 pro, I'm a convert! Far cheaper then a new iphone, it was incredibly easy to transfer everything over, the camera quality is amazing. I won't be going back to iPhone!

OddestSock · 16/01/2019 09:10

I went from 8 years of iPhone to a Huawei 20 pro. Totally converted. It's far, far cheaper, runs absolutely fine, has a lot more storage and the camera is amazing.

Imnotswallowingthat · 16/01/2019 09:12

Another vote for the Google Pixel, great phone and brilliant camera

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 16/01/2019 09:16

I'm about to upgrade myself, thinking about the Samsung J6 plus. Anyone got one? Thanks.

Spiderpants · 16/01/2019 09:19

I've got a Samsung s7 and about to upgrade to the s9 today, wouldn't go back to Iphone at the s7 has been a great phone over the 2 years, hoping the s9 is just as good.

1Wanda1 · 16/01/2019 09:20

After having iPhones for 10 years j recently changed to a Samsung S9+ and I love it!

Really good camera and display.

It is too large for pockets though so if putting it in pocket is essential, I would get the regular size.
