Who was the first person you told

that you had a BFP on a pregnancy test?

Just a general musing/nosey thread.

DH and I have just started TTC and there has always been a running joke that he would be the second person to know I had gotten a positive result, as I would probably tell SIL (DH's brother's wife) first (to confirm what I was seeing and because we are so close)

So who did you tell first?

My sister in laws with the first 3 (they were with me when I did the pregnancy tests) and my husband with the last 2 (again he was with me when I did the tests)

vampirethriller · 15/01/2019 14:18

My best friend.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 15/01/2019 14:21

My dh told me. I was fed up with seeing negatives for 2 years of ttc. After that it was our parents. When I was pregnant with our 3rd we told the children first.

DH was the first person I told, I did a test with my friend in the loo at work.

I rang him to tell him (we’d been trying for a while, but were quite chilled about it, if it happened it happened) and he said “Fucking hell, mate” and then put the phone down on me! Grin

GroggyLegs · 15/01/2019 15:07

The person serving on the counter at WH Smith Confused not sure how that came about.

Then DH.

Alanamackree · 15/01/2019 15:13

Dh told me because I was too nervous to look.
So I think my gp was the first person I told.

Chinks123 · 15/01/2019 15:15

My best friend both times, she’s always told me before her dp aswell.

the99 · 15/01/2019 15:29

DH.

Parents and sister.

Two BFs.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 15/01/2019 15:34

My friend/neighbour as she'd given me the test to put my mind at rest (I really didn't think I was pg) and I wanted her to confirm the result.

Officially it was XP though Wink

MsSquiz · 15/01/2019 15:36

I hadn't even considered the person who POAS being the second person to know...

@GroggyLegs I guess sometimes things just fall out of your mouth? Grin

My partner, then my boss the next day (explaining why I didn't want to push beds or "nip through X-ray")

MrsJamin · 15/01/2019 16:17

I told my 18 month old while he was in the bath. He probably said "ah... spash! wet. duck!". This was a couple of days before I said to DH what I was suspecting as it was a good few days off when my AF was due. I just KNEW though!

toastfiend · 15/01/2019 16:18

Mumsnet I think, as I posted a thread asking if it was a BFP as I couldn't quite believe it!

Then DH very shortly after that.

Wifelife · 15/01/2019 16:23

I got my first BFP on Friday after 7 months TTC Grin and told my best friend as I was certain my eyes were playing tricks, 6 tests later they weren’t and then FaceTimed DH Grin

recently · 15/01/2019 16:28

My mum as she was there when I got the phone call! (Didn't actually do a test).

Peppersteak · 15/01/2019 16:55

My mum found out the exact same second as me. I was having an ultrasound on my womb for other reasons and there was 10.5 week DD waving at us! Best surprise ever.

Minesril · 15/01/2019 17:14

Our guinea pig. (He was our baby at the time.)

Gotstuckwiththisname · 15/01/2019 17:17

My DH.

Shadow1986 · 15/01/2019 17:18

First time DH told me because I was fed up of seeing negative tests.

Second time I told him, then my sister and then when discussing it with him the next day on what’s app I accidentally clicked on the wrong conversation so accidentally gave the news away to my best friend as she guessed by what I’d written. I had planned to hold back telling friends as one of my other close friends was TTC but luckily she got pregnant the same week!

mamaduckbone · 15/01/2019 17:26

Dh for ds1.
A close friend for ds2 - I was a bit in shock and she caught me off guard by asking whether we were thinking of having another so I just blurted it out!

MsSquiz · 15/01/2019 18:58

Congratulations @Wifelife ❤️ how did your DH react over FaceTime?

OP posts:
MsSquiz · 15/01/2019 18:59

@Minesril to be fair, I'd probably tell our cats first, especially as they always seem to want to join me in the bathroom!

Wifelife · 15/01/2019 19:59

@MsSquiz

Thank you! He cried, bless probably should have waited until he was home from work but I couldn’t keep it in!

bengalcat · 15/01/2019 20:00

The kids dad

strawberrypenguin · 15/01/2019 20:09

My DH both times.
