my parents had my brother before me , so i am pretty sure they were together about 10 years before they had me so a long time.

Assuming paternity checks out, they'd just gotten divorced...

nancy75 · 15/01/2019 00:45

I was born about 18 months after they got married, don’t know how long they were together before the wedding ( they got married at 19 so can’t have been together for years& years!)

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/01/2019 00:49

Including "courting", engagement and marriage my DPs were together over 20 years before they had me. I've got older siblings - the eldest was born just under 18 months after my DPs wedding.

Walnutwhipster · 15/01/2019 00:54

About fifteen years. I also had two younger DB. DH and I have been married 24 and our DD has just turned 12.

thegreatbeyond · 15/01/2019 00:57

About 15 years - I have 3 older siblings.

MadisonAvenue · 15/01/2019 01:10

I think 15/16 years, I have a sister who is 11 years older than me.

BarkerBump · 15/01/2019 02:29

I was a surprise, and they'd only been seeing each other 18 months by the time I was born.

Still together now, 30 years later.

PorpentinaScamander · 15/01/2019 02:51

About 9 years, 5 years married. I have a brother who's 2 years older.
They separated when I was 7.

GMtoBe · 15/01/2019 02:53

3 months, I definitely wasn't planned!

ProudAunty2nine · 15/01/2019 02:55

I was a honey moon baby don't know how long they had been together before getting married but I do know it wasn't long (months not years) and by the time they knew I was on the way divorce was on the horizon!

wingingitmills · 15/01/2019 02:57

Not even a year into them knowing eachother.

treaclesoda · 15/01/2019 02:59

Over 20 years in my case.

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 15/01/2019 03:02

Is there a reason you’re wondering about whether the time length matters OP?

sunshineandshowers21 · 15/01/2019 03:05

my parents had me when they were 16 - my mum fell pregnant after they’d been together three months. 27 years later and they’re still together and still very much in love.

knittedjest · 15/01/2019 03:32

Around 5 years. My mum was very early 22, dad 26. They divorced 3 years later.

Klobluchar · 15/01/2019 03:32

A few months at most. They’re still together now, well over 4 decades later

Aquamarine1029 · 15/01/2019 04:45

Four years. They had been trying for over 3 years because my father is 9 years older than my mum. They wanted at least 3 or 4 children but they were only able to have me.

BlueThursday · 15/01/2019 06:07

3 years but they were only married 7 months when I was born

IndigoSpritz · 15/01/2019 06:35

I was born in 1971 (six older siblings), my eldest sister was born in 1961, parents married in 1960 and courting for a fair few years before. So probably about fifteen years altogether.

LoniceraJaponica · 15/01/2019 06:44

No idea, but they got married 4 months before I was born.

Millie2013 · 15/01/2019 06:48

8-9 years

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 15/01/2019 06:57

About 8 years. I was a very big surprise.

Seline · 15/01/2019 06:59

14 years. I'm an only child.

WaterBird · 15/01/2019 07:33

About 6 years, I think.
But they actually met one another much, much earlier (just in the same setting, they had other relationships before coming back together, which makes sense at only 8 and 10!)

Isth · 15/01/2019 07:40

Er... well I would think about 8 years or so, maybe? Maybe slightly more. They had my eldest brother 5 years before me, and my youngest 4 years after me.
They were together, all in, about 20 years before they divorced I think.
