My children only exist because of....

Swan Lake. My children didn’t know I liked it till tonight so I told them it’s the reason they exist.

It’s like this:

Lonely musical little girl spends a decade dancing to the record
Is intrigued by the romance and mystery of Russia
Tries to go there
Gets as far as Prague
Meets man
Has babes

You?

Switching the bank I was all set to work for for another at almost the last minute. Dh to be joined at the same time.

iklboo · 14/01/2019 21:02

I joined an amateur dramatics group after ex-p had buggered off. I'd always loved performing but he wouldn't let me do it. After a couple of years doing my own thing I took the plunge.

Met DH. Married 14 years, DS is 13.

Because their birth mum couldn't stop drinking or leave her abusive long term relationship (violence on both sides) or because the Social Workers and courts said we were the right match.
They would never have become ours if their circumstances didn't lead to their adoption.

Doilooklikeatourist · 14/01/2019 21:03

His mum knew my mum

Muddlingalongalone · 14/01/2019 21:04

My children exist because of Munich & heart over head decision making.

My old FD gave me a free choice of which job to choose for my overseas grad placement. I didn't make the best career choice but I chose Munich met exh over there. I still make heart over head decisions . Explains a lot!

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 14/01/2019 21:06

Moving school when I was 12, much to my disgust. Met my husband, copied his physics and got in his cool car..........

ReanimatedSGB · 14/01/2019 21:07

A particular 70s glam rock band. DS is now 14 and as obsessed with same band as his dad and I were when we were teenagers (we met in the late 80s, stayed friends because of our love of said band....)

The official version focuses on our shared music taste.

The unofficial and more direct reason is 'half a bottle of Glenfiddich.'

BakewellTarts · 14/01/2019 21:08

Daring to go to uni and then a spur of the moment decision to sign up to student radio. Without that I would not have met my lovely DH or have either DD.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 14/01/2019 21:08

My DSis moved to America, and I went to visit. Expensive tickets in these days, so must make it worth it with holiday romance :)

(it lasted; 38 years tomorrow)

LuluJakey1 · 14/01/2019 21:09

.... I was asked to speak at a conference and one of my colleagues was there and spotted someone she had done her teacher training with (DH) and introduced us. That was that!

PavlovianLunge · 14/01/2019 21:09

Don’t apologise, @RLABC, you did something amazing.

Seline · 14/01/2019 21:09

A university anime society. My DH was the president of said group. We were definitely the cool kids...

fedup2017 · 14/01/2019 21:11

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 14/01/2019 21:12

I suspect my ex sabotaged the condoms.

EssentialHummus · 14/01/2019 21:13

My irrational but long-standing attraction to Russian men and vodka.

Kezzie200 · 14/01/2019 21:13

Every time my DD complains about her uni feesI tell her its the price she paid for her bf. Lol

Bungalowbeth · 14/01/2019 21:14

I don’t have children but I only exist because my father’s first wife died suddenly at the age of 37 (they had 2 DC) and then he met my mum.

Sad, sorry but it was my first thought on seeing this.

Tinkobell · 14/01/2019 21:14

...the rubbish 'natural' contraceptive gizmo called "Persona" ......remember that? Brilliant for getting up the duff.

PhilomenaButterfly · 14/01/2019 21:15

White Dwarf. Answered ad for penpals, met XH, moved to Scotland, had babies.

motortroll · 14/01/2019 21:15

Because my husbands ex wife was a vile cheating bitch? Otherwise he'd have stayed married and there'd be no us!

motortroll · 14/01/2019 21:16

And also because we're crap with confine Grin

motortroll · 14/01/2019 21:16

*condoms!

alphajuliet123 · 14/01/2019 21:16

A late train. Only 10 minutes late, but it meant I bumped into an old school friend and agreed to go out for a catch up, which became a date, which eventually became a wedding and kids. Our paths had been out of synch by 10 minutes for a couple of years, until that day.

Loyaultemelie · 14/01/2019 21:16

Leaving an abusive relationship and eventually finding out that actually my best friend was really my more. Oh and the not so contraceptive Evra
patch for Dd1
