Just curious if it's just me but I find 'reaching out' so annoying. Less so, but when people are talking about paying for something 'forked out'

Going forward

Drogosnextwife · 16/01/2019 11:51

"Own it" in relation to someone saying or doing something, they should "own it" I have never heard this irl only on TV but it irritates the fuck out of me.

Bezalelle · 16/01/2019 11:58

Overly enthusiastic American-style praise for young children, like "GOOD JAAHHHHHB". I follow someone on Instagram who is always cawing this at her bewildered daughter every time the girl as much as breathes.

ElinoristhenewEnid · 16/01/2019 12:01

keeping your balls up in the air (keeping on top of multiple projects)
In Christian love - (I think that means I don't really love/like you but I have to as a Christian)
Divine appointments (God given opportunities)

MrsMaisel · 16/01/2019 12:14

Imagine, there are probably loads of these in other languages too. Can we go multilingual here?

Stillmonday · 16/01/2019 12:21

'He turned around and said..'

Did he really turn around??!! No he frickin did not!!!!

PreseaCombatir · 16/01/2019 13:22

I like ‘it is what it is’.
It conveys the ‘and there’s fuck all you can do about it’ perfectly!

AppleBlossomArseCheeks · 16/01/2019 13:29

Merch
Ream
Shortened versions sound so cringey
Math instead of maths

Drogosnextwife · 16/01/2019 13:39

Yes to the, "turned around and said", why are all these people turning round as they say things, they must get very dizzy. The same as "she sat and said" even if she wasn't sitting at the time at all.

twosoups1972 · 16/01/2019 13:46

‘Perfect’ especially in relation to making appointments. It’s just convenient or a suitable time, not bloody perfect!

MyPatronusIsAnOrca · 16/01/2019 13:49

“Sorry not sorry”, I find that really irritating. What a pointless phrase.

I have a colleague who suddenly becomes American by saying “ass” instead of “arse” then reverts back to her Home Counties accent and carries on with what ever she was saying.

TrickyD · 20/01/2019 10:30

Attempts at gentility by using 'I' instead of ''me'. He gave it to DD and I.

'Sat' for 'Siiting' . I was sat in the garden.

Foonababoonalagoona · 20/01/2019 10:54

I also hate 'Sunday Lunch' I dont know why and also getting and 'fish and chip supper '

Hen2018 · 20/01/2019 11:00

Trouser. As in “a red trouser is fashionable”. Just the one leg?

Hen2018 · 20/01/2019 11:05

Oh, and “we’re pregnant”, as though the man in the couple is pregnant at the same time as the woman. So silly.

Chocolateandabook2019 · 20/01/2019 13:05

@Tony2

Adding an s. As in Tescos, Lidls, Aldis. Why?

I know what you mean.
“I’m off to Tescos”, heard frequently.
There is a bus stop outside an Asda store near us, and I’ve heard boarding passengers say to the driver “to the Asda please”.

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2019 21:07

People who write "you're welcome" assuming a thank you.
"I'm going to fold all your face cloths into swans. You're welcome."

Ladymargarethall · 21/01/2019 05:54

chocolate where DD used to I've it would be 'that Asda'.

Ofthread · 21/01/2019 05:57

What goes around comes around

SquatBetty · 21/01/2019 05:59

"my bad" - ugh
"Pop of colour" - sigh

There are many more

Hedwigsradio · 21/01/2019 06:00

"Fun fact" I don't know why it winds me up but my children have started saying it alot.

Geillis · 21/01/2019 06:08

"Curated by" on everything these days. If you're not a fucking museum curator stop using it!

For example:
Our menu has been curated by "insert wanky chef" name

A selection of winter coats curated by our "wanky fashion editor" name

Hate it.

Ladymargarethall · 21/01/2019 06:17

'Sourced' when you have just looked it up online and bought it.

limpbizkit · 21/01/2019 08:06

'raise awareness' and 'educate ourselves' it gets ridiculously overused and nobody ends up taking any notice

Queenofthedrivensnow · 21/01/2019 08:10

Statement used in front of blouse or necklace. What is the fucking statement???
