Just curious if it's just me but I find 'reaching out' so annoying. Less so, but when people are talking about paying for something 'forked out'

Other Half - we are all whole people. I adore my husband. I don’t know what I’d do without him but I am a complete person and I find the notion that people are ‘halves’ really icky.

partypoopers · 15/01/2019 13:11

Suck it and see

MistressDeeCee · 15/01/2019 13:17

"Brunch"

I think it's entirely silly for a word to annoy me so much, but whenever I come across it I am consciously aware that it does. So many events are described as "Brunch Events" lately, is it a fad?

It's breakfast, or lunch. Or early lunch. Not brunch. Stupid made up word.

I don't like phrases such as "blue sky thinking", "thinking outside the box" trying to make boring jobs with management that want workers to sweat blood building someone else's dream, sound interesting

TrickyD · 15/01/2019 13:18

Tubbyonisswivyu. I.e. To be honest with you.

Heard over and over again everywhere.

We have a dear friend who starts every other sentence with it. I want to scream " no don't be honest just lie to me for a change."

WhiteHartLane · 15/01/2019 13:19

I dislike the adding of an extra word needlessly, e.g instead of saying just "dirty" they say "filthy dirty" Others are facebook related sayings like "melts my heart" or "this one though" accompanied by photo of "this one" and the obligatory heart emoji.

dreamingofsun · 15/01/2019 13:24

'Can i have a lend of'......I have to stop correcting my IL's when they say this. Its 'can i borrow' or 'would you like me to lend you x.'

Aswad · 15/01/2019 13:25

'how long is a piece of string'
When people say 'pacific' instead of specific

AprilSpring · 15/01/2019 13:28

‘Brexit’
‘Can I get the ......’ when ordering food, just say, I’d like the.... or ..... please
‘100%’ instead of yes
‘Yeah boi!’ Urghhhh sounds so ugly

Grumpasaurus · 15/01/2019 13:31

I got flamed for this once, but I still maintain it's just an opinion. I HATE it when people say or use the word practicable. I don't know why. I just hate it.

MadisonAvenue · 15/01/2019 13:39

My bad
Reach out to
Making memories

'Touch base'

Tony2 · 15/01/2019 13:59

Adding an s. As in Tescos, Lidls, Aldis. Why?

DuggeesWoggle · 15/01/2019 14:05

But MistressDeeCee brunch is the best meal of all time so I can't agree with that one!

BrennieGirl · 15/01/2019 14:06

It is what it is.
Hence why.

BrennieGirl · 15/01/2019 14:11

I've thought of more.

Said person, said road etc
I've found my tribe/people
Methinks

I've also noticed my teenager dropping words eg let's go shop. It really bugs me.

BrennieGirl · 15/01/2019 14:14

Sorry that was a bad example because shop can be a verb. Go chemist. Go bus stop.

Foonababoonalagoona · 15/01/2019 14:16

Giving it socks

Wow, just Wow Angry
Guys

MistressDeeCee · 15/01/2019 14:17

DuggeesWoggle

Stoppit😂

What was it called before the 'B-word' - Elevenses..? Early lunch..? I'd prefer that. The B-word gets irrationality on my "oh stop trying to be achingly trendy" nerves

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 15/01/2019 14:18

'High end' is my current peeve.

DuggeesWoggle · 15/01/2019 14:22

We didn't have it in the olden days I guess, no time for sitting about eating bacon sandwiches at 11am on a weekend. You were either dahn t'pit, scrubbing a doorstep or in church Grin

As compound words go I rather like it...

Foonababoonalagoona · 15/01/2019 14:23

Yes pink avocado I whole heartedly agree with both yours 'lip' and 'gifted'
I also hate 'crafting' I just make things

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2019 14:26

Is 'needs gone' a lincolnshire/East Midlands thing?
I also hate 'this one' on Facebook. I don't understand what purpose it serves.

houseRefurb · 15/01/2019 14:26

"To be honest"
and
the "D" prefixes in MN terminology, eg DH, DD

buxton24 · 15/01/2019 14:27

Crips instead of crisps

Likkle instead of little

....urgh

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2019 14:32

Shhhtupid instead of stupid
People seem to think we don't pronounce the s in an St sound
