I don’t understand body spray.

I was lying awake in bed last night thinking about this - the things you ponder when you have insomnia.

If you’re sweaty you use antipersperant/deodorant. If you want to smell nice you use perfume. So what’s body spray for? Like Impulse. Does it go on your skin or over your clothes? What’s the point of it?

Isn’t body spray/Impulse used exclusively by teenagers? So like a cheap version of perfume.

evilharpy · 13/01/2019 09:18

Is that all it is Spuriouser? When I was a teenager I had perfume. Exclamation, So and Charlie Red! I never had body spray.

I used to think it was deodorant only to realise one day that it wasn’t. No idea what it is for though.

I don’t know, I never used bodyspray either, but that’s what I thought! When I was a teenager the girls in my school who smoked used it to cover the smell when they came back in, maybe that’s what it’s for Grin

BitchQueen90 · 13/01/2019 09:26

I use body spray daily to smell nice because it's cheap. Perfume is more expensive so I save that for special occasions.

Seline · 13/01/2019 09:28

I always think this too! Like someone said it reminds me of girls who smoked at lunchtime covering up the smell

Birdsgottafly · 13/01/2019 09:32

I used to like matching body spray with the moisturiser, so my skin smelled nice, all over.

It is a quick cover up. It's lighter than perfume. Handy if your in close contact with people at work and don't want anything heavy on.

I used to like it after a workout, or doing weights at home, if I was going straight out shopping etc.

HolyMountain · 13/01/2019 09:35

I have a lovely coconut one for the summer, it reminds me of a beach holiday.

Light, cheap and smells gorgeous.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 13/01/2019 09:36

When I was at school it seemed to be used instead of a shower after PE. More fool me - I thought that washing was got you clean...

Ijustwanttofeelbeautiful · 13/01/2019 09:39

It’s lighter and cheaper than perfume... I like rose scented spray from the body shop.

evilharpy · 13/01/2019 09:44

Ladies who use it, do you spray it in the same places as you would spray perfume (pulse points etc)? Or over your clothes?

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 13/01/2019 09:45

It’s just budget perfume.

FluffyMcCloud · 13/01/2019 09:46

I use body spray to smell nice

retainertrainer · 13/01/2019 09:47

I absolutely hate perfume, it’s too strong, makes me feel headachey and I work in a small office with someone very sensitive to the smell of perfume too. There’s some lovely body sprays out there. I wear deodorant then spray my décolletage with the body spray. Gives a nice, light scent.

BitchQueen90 · 13/01/2019 09:50

I spray it like I spray perfume.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 13/01/2019 09:51

I like the sound of coconutty, light, summer holiday body spray

planespotting · 13/01/2019 09:52

Same here!!!!
I thought it was an add on to deodorant before you spray perfume but that doesn't make sense

Seline · 13/01/2019 09:55

Where do you get them from? Whenever I've smelled them they smell very artificial and chemical like to me. I may try them after reading this thread as a cheap daily perfume.

Newsername · 13/01/2019 09:55

I have a really nice floral smelling fcuk body spray I wear during the summer. After a shower I spray a mist over my body especially my neck area and arms. It lasts all day and I love it. I think that’s what body spray is for. I hate impulse though. I was going to buy one for dd the other day and took a whiff. Bleugh.

evilharpy · 13/01/2019 09:57

Thanks for all the replies, I am enlightened! I might buy one to try it out. What’s that coconut one?

Because when you are wearing Impulse random blokes will give you flowers.

I used to use body spray when I was younger, it was just cheap perfume.

donajimena · 13/01/2019 10:00

I stopped using it when impulse stopped making Chic and Jeunesse. They were bloody lovely.

Wateringhole · 13/01/2019 10:07

I'm in my thirties and I use body spray as well as perfume. I always have done Blush

MeetOnTheledge · 13/01/2019 10:07

We all used it in the first couple of years of secondary school, much cheaper than perfume, easy to carry in a bag as the cans are light, no leaks etc.

MeetOnTheledge · 13/01/2019 10:09

Impulse that is.
