I don’t understand body spray.

I was lying awake in bed last night thinking about this - the things you ponder when you have insomnia.

If you’re sweaty you use antipersperant/deodorant. If you want to smell nice you use perfume. So what’s body spray for? Like Impulse. Does it go on your skin or over your clothes? What’s the point of it?

You could get a Charlie Red body spray couldn't you? I'm sure you could. If not there was a red bottle of body spray available in the 90s.

Cheap perfume. Why would anyone want to use cheap perfume. There's a reason things are cheap. Just go buy a proper perfume, eau de toilette if you like lighter fragrances. It lasts ages. Cheap perfume is like scenting your home with glade plug ins. They are not nice. Cheap perfume smells of cheap perfume funnily enough.

I had a boyfriend a few years ago who never realised the difference between the Lynx body sprays and antiperspirant deodorant. He quickly stopped smelling of BO after I pointed it out.
I don't really see the point in body sprays, they're ok for a quick freshen up but the scent wears off too quick.

Why would anyone want to use cheap perfume.

Because they are 14 or on a budget. Not everyone can afford proper perfume.

I like to keep a body spray in the car, in summer I tend to use a pump style water spray, and the aerosol type more in winter. I don't use everyday by any means (I use perfume daily). It just helps me feel a little fresher and more together somehow.

It's cheap version of perfume for teenagers

MrsTommyBanks · 13/01/2019 10:21

I use body spray in the summer. It's lovely to have a nice cool spray all over.
Boots do a couple of lovely ones for about £3-4

I got a lovely Ted Baker one in a secret Santa. It’s really fresh and floral. I think it’s called Blush.

Funnily enough, I won some Impulse at a PTA tombola, wore it that night at a party and had three Facebook friend requests from friends' husbands the following morning. Make of that what you will.

I use Angel body spray to match my perfume. Just spray it on my body. I have Angel roll on deodorant too.

"A cologne body spray with the reassurance of a deodorant" I used to love the Gypsy one
TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 13/01/2019 10:35

Impulse ones are awful by and large (there's one that's not too bad, red fruits or something) what's this nice coconut one?

amusedbush · 13/01/2019 10:36

DH’s granny bought me a pack of Impulse body spray for Christmas. I’m almost 29 Grin

I didn’t know you could still buy it!

Zoflorabore · 13/01/2019 10:39

I remember using impulse as a teen ( am now 40 ) but haven't worn it since.
I am obsessed with smells and perfume though and think that most body spray smells cheap although I haven't deliberately sought one out in over 20 years.

I know my teenage nieces like the Victoria's Secrets ones and they're not cheap.

jazzyfizzles · 13/01/2019 10:44

Some smell really nice! I use it at work to have a fresh smell about me during my 12 hour shift, I do prefer the body mists though they seem to last longer! I wouldn't want to waste my perfume for work

chapthedoor · 13/01/2019 10:48

I wear it instead of deodorant at night - I always shower before bed- I like the Yardley English Rose

HolyMountain · 13/01/2019 10:52

Hawaiian Tropic Golden Paradise Fragrance mist! smells of warm sand and creamy coconut, just under a tenner iirc.

Buckyball · 13/01/2019 10:53

I am nearly 50 and still use Impulse, although I really only like the Musk one

Iwantmychairback · 13/01/2019 10:58

I prefer to wear body spray rather than perfume in Summer. Must lighter. I keep a can in my desk drawer and have a quick spray if I’m feeling hot and bothered. It’s a lovely way to instantly feel fresher
