Am I a clingy mum?

My son, 18, started university in September. I pop over to see him every 2 weeks with his little sister and we have lunch, go to the cinema, visit a museum, etc. We only stay for the afternoon. My husband thinks this is ridiculous. He says I should leave my son alone and that I am smothering him. Needless to say, he hasn't visited our son at all. I miss my son so much, but I don't think a few hours a fortnight is excessively clingy?

If he’s alright with it then why not .

Not a problem if your son is happy about it. I would've hated to be visited that often at uni so seems clingy to me but whatever works for you and your son...

I think you’re amazing and if you’re all happy you should keep doing it. Life is short, relationships are important, spending time with people you love is important. It absolutely will not affect his independence.

I think you and the kids sound so close as your dh sounds like hard work

My daughter would hate this, it is better for both of us to see each other less, gives her the independence she needs and helps me cope with empty nest syndrome, now she is getting lots of friends in uni, going out etc I don;t think she would relish seeing me and her sister when she is trying to sleep off her hangovers! I enjoy speaking to her on facetime, still can see her in person, chat etc without making her feel obliged to see me, especially in front of her friends, sorry to offend OP?
