In The Night Garden theme tune started playing. For some reason it tears me up! I don't know why. It reduces me to tears.

My son is 14 months old, how much longer can I cling onto 'oh I've just had a baby' as an excuse for my histrionics?

That’s odd because that theme tune used make me want to scream in rage - I bloody hate it!

My six year old is sensitive to certain music, and he sobs his heart out to the music from in the night garden, although, he has a multitude of special needs- hormones perhaps?

I cried today reading DS ‘The boy who lost his name’. Thankfully DH was out although he is quite used to my leaky eyes. I’m planning on getting my mum to read it to him when she visits next month to see if she can get through it. My money is on her also crying!

That used to get me too OP - put the little sail down, light the little light, this is the way to the garden in the night - I just can't help but feel it's about letting someone go. It makes me think of losing my dad. I'm glad dd doesn't watch it anymore!

Which reminds me of my little sister when she was 3. My mum would read her a French nursery rhyme and she'd burst into tears. We aren't French. She use to say "poor poor lady" and then cry, then ask for my mum to read it again.

We had no idea why she was saying "poor poor lady" but my mum looked it up. One of the verses is indeed about a poor poor lady

Agree with brie it definitely has an air of letting go. Luckily neither of mine ever got into it.

Can anyone remember the old black and white AndyPandy ( yes I am v old ) ?
When I was a toddler I used to howl every time the end credits rolled and they sang Andy is waving goodbye ! Goodbye !
But I still had to watch it the following week so I could cry again.

For some reason the Brie poster isn't showing on my phone... can't see what they've said.

But tonight I heard it and thought ' it's like the show ending and the daytime going into night is like my baby growing up and the babyhood ending and the waters into the unknown'

If you are sensitive to the idea of 'letting go', try reading the children's book 'The Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. It's a wonderful book and beautifully illustrated, but if you can get to the end with dry eyes, you're a better woman than me!

When DC is a bit older maybe: ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go’ by Dr Seuss. Try to get through the end of that without the emotional tides rising...

It makes me well up too! My DS started watching it just as I was going back to work so it always reminds me of that. He's 2 and a half now it it still gets to me!

Oh I remember Bog Baby from a cbeebies bedtime story, years ago!!! My now 10 year old was a toddler and it made me a little weepy then!!

If it helps I once saw an episode of Sarah and Duck where their next door neighbours go off on tour with the circus and they don’t get to say goodbye. The voice over gently intones: “Sometimes we don’t get to say goodbye to people we care about, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how important they are to us or that we wanted to say goodbye.” Or something similar.

I sobbed until my throat ached. DD was largely obliviously thankfully!

Atrocious I recited “The places you’ll go” at my ds wedding. Struggled not to cry the whole way through!

A thing. Cardiff singer of the world 2017.A Mongolian baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, sang a few songs, the last in Mongolian. I enjoy a bit of singing, and as a total amateur thought bloody hell that was good. Anyway, after, go to commentators, guy says to woman commentator (I know it's bad I've forgotten her name) and asks what did you think? She was crying her eyes out, I just can't speak she said. I knew exactly how she felt. Cry away I say.

Oh my goodness, my DS used to cry at the music of ITNG when he watched it as a baby/toddler - it made him so sad, no other credits music had the same effect! This has brought back memories.....

You are not alone. It used make me cry too! My youngest is nearly 10 now so it has been a while, but I still remember the sweet air of innocence of the “this is the way to the garden of the night” rhyme and the soaring string section as the flowers opened up. I used to do a little sob because little ones are so pure.

The show itself was an aggravating load of crap...but the theme song was sublime.
