I am missing all my Christmas candles.

Soooo

I received a gift voucher from work for £50 (for Sainsburys) I am going to put that in the household pot and buy myself goods to the value and on my list is a candle that will last longer than ten seconds.

I would like a white linen one, any recommendations please and thank you.

Hi, Sainsbury's White Fig and Patchouli candles are lovely - I bought a large three wick one last week for only £6.50!

BreevandercampLGJ · 11/01/2019 15:42

Thank you.

How long do they last ?

Has to be on sale at Sainsbury's? I think they only have 2 white linen ones - own brand, and Yankee candle.

If it doesn't have to be Sainsburys check out the ones from St Eval Candle Company - I adore their candles and they smell fresh and real rather than chemically like some candles do.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/01/2019 15:44

I quite like their black amber and patchouli as I prefer a spicier smell. All their candles are half price at the moment so get the biggest one you can and it will last longer

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/01/2019 15:45

But I prefer true grace candles as the smell actually lingers

Lizc1985 · 11/01/2019 15:46

Bylauralondon.com do lovely ones which burn for a long time and smell delicious.

To be honest, if you are going to use it for household expenses, I'd take £20 cash out from the budget and take myself to Homesense/tk Maxx and get myself some large jar or tin candles from there.

You will get much more choice and probably get something you like from the clearance section.

The big tin candles I like are the portmerion ones, last ages and have a strong but subtle (Yes I realise that is an oxymoron) smell. They're usually about a tenner.

ChodeofChodeHall · 11/01/2019 15:48

Sorry, I meant Black Amber and Patchouli, not fig!

thaegumathteth · 11/01/2019 15:48

Woodwick candles are my favourite - the hearthwick ones sound like a crackling fire. The scents aren’t overpowering but they last for ages and they don’t burn down really quickly. A big one with 60ish hours of burn is about £26

BreevandercampLGJ · 11/01/2019 15:55

I was looking at Woodwick earlier, I think that maybe the way to go.

Thank you everyone and apologies for the confusion. Grin

Do you want a candle that actually does something or just smells nice?

The neom 'sleep' candle is amazing. Actually puts me to sleep.

Their pouring massage candle is also beautiful, I bought my friend it as a gift and her dh texted me saying he was very grateful with a winky face Grin

BreevandercampLGJ · 11/01/2019 15:58

Ordered.

Now to spend the balance on meeeeeeee.

Oooooh a sleep candle, wanders off to investigate.

I love sleeping, my DH reckons I am descended from a dormouse.

Love St Eval and Neom.

carrie74 · 11/01/2019 16:31

I think you do get what you pay for. My boss very kindly buys me a candle every Christmas, I've had a Diptyquie one this year, Jo Malone last year and Space NK the year before, they're all lasted so much better than others I've tried that are cheaper (Yankee Candles, supermarket copies etc). I also love the True Grace room diffusers, not tried their candles, but their diffusers scents last AGES.

hmmwhatatodo · 11/01/2019 16:51

True grace, penhaligons, white company. Didnt think much of the st evals one i had.

Angie169 · 11/01/2019 18:03

I can not recommend a particular candle but all candles burn much slower when they are cold so stick them in the fridge the night before you want to burn them.
Be careful with one's in glass containers very cold glass hot flame may crack the glass ( I have never bought one on a glass container so i am not sure it would crack , just been cautious)

UtterlyDesperate · 11/01/2019 18:19

Scentered ones are lovely too - I love their sleep one especially

CountTessa · 11/01/2019 18:25

Seven seventeen make a delicious Black Oud which is a deep heady scent. Also it's vegetarian as it's made with soy wax.
Long lasting smells and candles.
They're a small business run by two mums so again nice to support.

Theonewiththecat · 11/01/2019 18:28

Woodwick are my favourite.
My 3 favourite are radish and rhubarb, cucumber melon, crimson berries.
My advice on woodwick is buy the taller jars as opposed to the the hearth (long) jars. They last twice as long.

SciFiScream · 11/01/2019 18:32

How do you put the sleep candle out, if you've already fallen asleep?

FrLukeDuke · 11/01/2019 18:34

I like woodwick.
