Do your kids know that Justin is Mr Tumble?

My partner unintentionally broke the news to my 7 year old dd that Justin does Mr Tumble and all the other characters in Something Special. She had no idea. Is my 7 year old unusual in this respect? As my partner was flabbergasted that she didn't realise. He thinks that surely all children know this. I think he is being a bit presumptuous. Would be interested to know what others think!

My 7yo thinks they're all different.... Hmm

ILoveMaxiBondi · 10/01/2019 17:04

Mine are older now, (youngest is 9) but they didn’t know when smaller that it was the same man playing all the characters. I think my oldest was maybe 7/8ish when he realised grandad was Justin and then he worked out the rest pretty quickly.

And then he told his brother Hmm

My nearly 3 year old refers to both Justin and Mr Tumble as Mr Tumble

I'm glad it's not just my 7 year old! I can now gleefully inform him that he is wrong Grin

Do they know he’s Shaun the Sheep?...

PhilomenaButterfly · 10/01/2019 18:51

Hang on - Justin's Shaun the Sheep??????!!!!!!!!! Xmas Shock

LoisLittsLover · 10/01/2019 18:53

My dd knew at 3 that he is the same. But she is quite logical and doesn't 'believe' in much iyswim

AlbusPercival · 10/01/2019 18:54

DS is two, he refers to all characters played by Justin as mr tumblr

SarahAndQuack · 10/01/2019 18:55

Mine does, but because she's at the other end of it. She's nearly 2 and simply doesn't understand they're meant to be different.

justunbelieveable · 10/01/2019 18:56

I found out when I met him when I was younger and he was introduced as Justin - the guy who plays mr tumble 😭

silkpyjamasallday · 10/01/2019 18:56

2 yo DD calls Justin 'Mr Tumble' regardless of his outfit.

icantthinkofamnusername · 10/01/2019 19:01

Dd1 was about 7 when she realised. She was watching it with dd2 when she said ‘Mummy Mr Tumble looks like justin’ I kinda confirmed it.

Justin is appearing in The Worst Witch too. He did the voice for Jake and Doodles in the Tweenies.

DoneLikeAKipper · 10/01/2019 19:01

My 3 year old calls any version of him Mr Tumble.

I recently found out he does some of the voices of the Vtech Toot Toot (and others I think) toys. I knew there was a reason they annoyed me whenever they go off...

SneakyGremlins · 10/01/2019 19:03

He's Shaun the sheep?????

Awrite · 10/01/2019 19:04

When she was younger, my now teenage daughter would not accept Justin was Mr Tumble. She just refused to believe us when we mentioned it.

I don't think it's obvious to children.

strawberrypenguin · 10/01/2019 19:07

My 2.5 year old has already worked it out. Every time he sees Justin he calls him 'Mr Tumble' no matter what he's dressed up as/being himself.
I think my oldest worked it out when he was 4 or 5.

Stormwhale · 10/01/2019 19:29

It blew dd's mind when I explained about gigglebiz.

scrivette · 10/01/2019 19:37

He has an MBE Smile

I think my 3 year old worked out they were all the same people.

Sosomego · 10/01/2019 19:42

My 6 year old says that Justin and Mr Tumble are brothers. I just nod and agree

OhWhatAPalaver · 10/01/2019 19:43

Interestingly it seems quite a mixed bag. Some totally unaware and others aware straight away. My 7 year old is incredibly literal and can be quite naive so I'm expecting her to believe in everything for quite some time!

My ds is 3yo but ocked on when he was 2 that Justin played the tumble family. But in gigglebiz he doesn't recognise all if them as Justin. Mind you, few weeks a go someone was collecting for charity in a big minion suit and i pointed out to him "look there's a minion over there" my ds just laughed and said "mummy your silly. That's not real. That's a person dressed like a minion"/Shock I was so shocked!

socktastic · 10/01/2019 21:23

My 2 year old shouts out Mr tumble whenever he sees Justin. Doesn't matter what the show is.

Easylikeasonntagmorgan · 10/01/2019 21:26

My 4 year old thinks that Mr Tumble dresses up as Justin Grin
