What is as equally satisfying as crisps but not?

I’m currently on Weight Watchers and using the pointing system...I bloody love crisps but can’t quite justify the 6 or so points! (Minimum..:I love crisps!)
So what can I swap the crisps for? Or does anyone know of any magic crisps that are v low in points for a reasonable amount?!

Actually, those chilli puffs you can get hit the spot, probably because they're packed to the gills with msg, I should think. Delicious

BobbyBanana · 10/01/2019 21:16

I make thinly sliced tomatoes as a substitute- slathered with salt and vinegar. It's a pretty good snack. It's the salt and vinegar I'm mostly craving.

Holidayshopping · 10/01/2019 21:21

Salt and vinegar flavoured snack a jacks aren’t too bad-taste a bit like walkers flavoured cardboard, but it’s quite a nice taste Grin.

Chickpeas roasted with salt and spices are a nice snack.

JudasPrudy · 11/01/2019 00:31

Also, soup is not an acceptable substitute for crisps.

Bluesheep8 · 11/01/2019 06:13

I second the pea snacks from Aldi, they're lovely! Also the lentil curls. And there's some spicy chick pea ones which are great too.

I too love crisps and as such I am fat. I have decided to just have 2 bags a week and I am doing well so far. My thoughts are, even thin people eat crisps, just not 3 bags a day like me😂. Try to just limit yourself but not deprive yourself.

fabulousathome · 11/01/2019 09:29

Pombears are lower in calories and delicious.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 11/01/2019 09:45

Some excellent ideas here thank you! I especially appreciate the points information!

I bought some walkers baked last night which were 3 points and half a bag of them are JUST about satisfying!

And miso soup may be reasonably tasty but it is not a bag of salty, crunchy goodness!!Grin

A few nuts. Roasted, spiced chickpeas are good as pp suggested.

Ballyhoobird · 11/01/2019 10:16

Hula hoop puft - same flavour as a normal bag of normal hula hoops, plenty of crunch, less than half the points (think they're 2 sp a bag). Not as filling though so great sub for a craving/snack habit but not to replace part of a meal or to tide you over till meal time. Beef ones are the best of course ☺

Whyislarryhappy · 11/01/2019 13:12

Not gonna lie, quite like roasted carrot, potato and beetroot crisps! Have done cucumber crisps too but they're not for me!

KnobJockey · 11/01/2019 13:56

Do french fries, quavers, etc really count as crisps if you're a proper crisp fan?

@IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece I see someones got there before me with the Walkers Baked but I am also a WW member and they are absolutely my go-to. Cheese and onion flavour, 3 points a bag, followed by Butterkist cinema sweet popcorn, 2/3 points depending where you get the multipack from.

PestoSnowissimos · 11/01/2019 13:58

Pistachios 💚

KnobJockey · 11/01/2019 13:59

@MissBartlettsconscience it counts as two lots of 3 (rather than 7) if you log one as part of your lunch, and the other a mid afternoon snack!

MissMalice · 11/01/2019 14:02

Do you pay attention to the crisps when you’re eating them or do you eat them while reading/watching tv/on your phone?

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 11/01/2019 14:13

Pom bears or teddy faces/froggles from Lidl/Aldi. pea snacks, lentil curls. All max 3 points. I bag. Not all of them!

OneStepMoreFun · 11/01/2019 14:17

If you like the flavour of seaweed those Itsu seaweed thins are lovely - very salty and savoury and crisp, and only 22 calories a packet.

verite · 11/01/2019 14:19

I fourth (fifth?) the Itsu seaweed thins. Surprisingly satisfying!

x2boys · 11/01/2019 14:34

Following with interest in also a crisp addict and on slimming world a packet of crisps is six synsSad where can I find seaweed thins?

MistressoftheYoniverse · 11/01/2019 15:19

Duggees

Jappydooda · 11/01/2019 15:23

Me too! Nothing like a lovely bag of hula hoops (my fav) or Walkers Smokey Bacon!

However, I have found a good alternative - co-op own brand lentil tubes - sweet chilli flavour. Really pack a punch in the flavour stakes and are nice and crunchy - 114 calories a bag!

FourteenCows · 11/01/2019 15:26

How many points in a potato?

I bought I little gadget from Asda that makes microwave crisps from just potato slices and seasoning. It’s amazing, they do really crispy! And it was only £4

PeachRose · 11/01/2019 15:32

Aldi Snackrite French fries are 2 points per bag.

PeachRose · 11/01/2019 15:50

How many points in a potato?

It depends on the weight of the potato. 1 medium potato (180g) is approx. 7 points. It's not really worth it though because you can have 2 bags of walkers (multi pack) for 8 points.
