Just imagine how life could be in the UK if only Remain had won.

We wouldn't have any of this shit going on. Mark Carney said a while ago that Britain would be booming if it wasn't for Brexit. I don't think we'd have the dividend nation. We could properly focus on real problems people have like UC instead of the government just getting away with stuff because everyone is distracted. Personally, I'd have job security and a new car (that I need).
How would you be doing if Remain had won?

I'd almost certainly still be in my previous job, because the company wouldn't have suffered its worst downturn ever and wouldn't have made me and others redundant. To be fair, I'd grown very bored with the role, but the timing was awful as (unbeknownst to the company) I'd recently started IVF. I found another job, but am now not entitled to much maternity pay.

I would also have peace of mind knowing that rights and opportunities won't be taken away from DD and me. This has caused me a lot of stress and still does.

StarUtopia · 09/01/2019 23:25

Yawn..

Moussemoose · 09/01/2019 23:28

@StarUtopia well that's lovely for you, you find job losses and redundancy boring.

I can only assume your job is safe.

This is something that concerns me. All that's happened for the past couple of years has been every politician running around trying to think how Brexit could work and realising it can't. It makes me laugh that Corbyn wants an election when he's not putting forward a solution to the problem, even though most of his party want him to demand a second referendum. We have no opposition. We have a government that disagrees with itself. Everything has imploded.

I've always voted Labour and haven't a bloody clue who to vote for now.

clumsyduck · 09/01/2019 23:32

Personally I don't think much would have changed for me nothing was exactly booming or even on the way to booming where I live

However I would take steady and doing ok than worrying about the future like I am now ! Not sure we're I work could take a sustained loss of custom for very long at all. Worried about being able to sell/ buy house etc

Lucky I haven't been affected as yet but people most definetley have so am not sure why people would yawn about it

GobblersKnob · 09/01/2019 23:34

Well I wouldn't be hiding endless prepping threads on here.

gluteustothemaximus · 09/01/2019 23:39

On a personal levek, we'd still have our business.

On a grander scale, we could have got on with the many issues the UK has, and generally concentrated on ourselves.

I wonder how many laws due to be passed have taken a back seat. How many other areas of progression have taken a back seat.

I wish there'd never been a referendum.

BrexitDestruction · 09/01/2019 23:47

Personally, we would have sold our house within days of putting it on the market, instead of it still languishing there 10 months on. In fact, we wouldn't have had to move at all.

More widely, I'd quite enjoy not worrying about the the downward spiral this country finds itself on as a result of that bastard referendum and the rights and regulations that my children will have forcibly stripped from them.

All of this wasted time and money, it's a disgrace. Everything else is neglected whilst they deal with a shitty Brexit that basically no one cared about until they were whipped into a frenzy about it.

Will likely turn out to be one of the worst things a Prime Minister could have ever done.

Tartyflette · 09/01/2019 23:55

Before the referendum was held Nigel Farage went on the record saying he would not accept a remain vote if it was a 52/48 split in favour and the fight to leave the EU would go on as the result would be too close, not decisive enough. .
But the other way around , oh it’s democracy and the will of the people. Fucking hypocrite.

So unless the result was more decisive than 52/48 we’d still be in the same situation but this time it would be Brexiteers agitating for another vote.
I highly doubt they’d be banging on saying ‘the people have spoken’ - they’d feel no compunction about continuing to fight for Brexit.

HorseDoorBolted · 10/01/2019 00:05

It just makes me so, so, sad.

Whatever you wanted the result to be, the waste of our taxpayer money, and division of the country is HORRIBLE.

ThunderInMyHeart · 10/01/2019 00:08

You made me LOL, @GobblersKnob (and not just at the username)

moredoll · 10/01/2019 00:12

I've always voted Labour and haven't a bloody clue who to vote for now.

I have this fantastic fantasy where Jeremy Corbyn suddenly decides to spend more time on his neglected allotment and appoints Yvette Cooper as interim leader.

Nomorerainplease · 10/01/2019 00:15

This.
Why oh why does the Labour Party not sort itself out? One of the current MPs put in a vote of no confidence against Jeremy?

Nomorerainplease · 10/01/2019 00:16

I am a Labour Party member. What can we do to oust JC?

FeminismandWomensFights · 10/01/2019 00:17

Me too! She needs to become leader. It’s a complete and utter mess at the moment. Sad

FeminismandWomensFights · 10/01/2019 00:18

That was to moredoll Smile

HollowTalk · 10/01/2019 00:22

All we need is one politician to stand up and say "This is ridiculous. It's not democracy to have a referendum when the people aren't informed of the consequences. It's obvious that leaving would leave our country devastated. We need to stay in and focus on everything that's been ignored for the last two years." But they won't do it. None of them.

And JC wants to leave, so he's no opposition. And he really seems to think he'll get a different deal, even though the EU have said he won't.

I despair of them.

moredoll · 10/01/2019 00:22

I am a Labour Party member. What can we do to oust JC?

A mass visualisation of him stepping down? Let's all picture it at midnight tomorrow. Imagine him announcing it at midday on Friday.

AntiHop · 10/01/2019 00:23

If remain had one, my family would have been in a much more stable position. My partner's income has been badly affected (he's self employed). We have one dd but if our finances had been going how they were, we would have tried for another baby.

At least my job isn't affected, yet, anyway.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 10/01/2019 00:25

sadly he has the numbers in the party. And sensible people keep leaving, meaning they have more of a grip.

Stay in to fight. It's the only way to go. We have some superb MP's. Sadly Bromentum has turned the party I love into a fan club.

ZenNudist · 10/01/2019 00:28

Well I'm a remainer and I doubt very much that everything would be all sunny Uplands if we haven't had the pro brexit vote happen.

All the brexiters Who complain that nothing bad has happened yet and cite project fear, are missing the point because we really haven't seen the worst effects until we actually leave.

I guess we didn't appreciate relative prosperity when we had it but we're going to miss it when it's gone.

WingingWonder · 10/01/2019 00:30

My family wouldn’t be living over seas because they wanted to ensure they got their PR for their new countries in plenty of time.
We are British.

Justaboy · 10/01/2019 00:45

Long time tory voter here but i do agreee as an opposition leader Corbyn is the pits, he really is:(

Mousewithascarf · 10/01/2019 08:28

HollowTalk I totally agree. I wish someone with enough clout could just say “STOP” this is the worst thing we could do to thget UK and we can’t in good conscience go any further with this shitstorm”. I think if the important and necessary issues government could concentrate on if 99% of its time wasn’t spent trying I work out the least awfully damaging Brexit deal.

CurbsideProphet · 10/01/2019 08:34

My job is fine for now, but I'm very worried about problems obtaining medication after March (epilipsy). I'm trying to stockpile best I can.
