The Two Ronnies
Morecambe and Wise
Dave Allen
Cannon and Ball
Peter Kay
Victoria Wood especially in Dinner Ladies!

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 10/01/2019 00:04

Robin Williams was a close second for me.

imperialqueen · 10/01/2019 00:06

Lee Evans.
Billy Connolly.
Dave Allen.
Victoria Wood.
Kevin Bridges.

Riotingbananas · 10/01/2019 00:11

Victoria Wood was a genius. One of us will quote her every day at work. Someone just has to mention prawns and we're all done for.

LadyRochfordsHoickedGusset · 10/01/2019 00:20

3rd favourite - Amy Shumer's stand up.

anitagreen · 10/01/2019 00:22

Micky Flanagan hands down every time

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 10/01/2019 00:30

I'm not sure she ever made it to TV, but on the radio Linda Smith. I'm still smiling at things she said in 1996
She did indeed, particularly HIGNFY and Mock the Week. She was hilarious. RIP.
Angela Barnes is excellent on MTW, was listening to ‘Getting Old’ earlier, proper funny, that’s radio though.
Billy Connolly (hence the username Wink), though he’s even better live.
But watching early Frankie Boyle on MTW was the only time I’ve ever thought I might actually die laughing, couldn’t get enough breath in.

tobee · 10/01/2019 00:34

Garry Shandling as Larry Sanders
Dylan Moran
League of Gentlemen

qate · 10/01/2019 05:36

Rhod Gilbert (also brilliant live) and Jasper Carrott - more the stand-up than the other bits he does though.

CountersurfingPerf · 10/01/2019 05:56

Richard Pryor
Then it’s the Scots - Billy Connolly , Kevin Bridges, Ricky Fulton - fond memories of parents crying with laughter at Scotch and Wry.

Taffeta · 10/01/2019 07:12

I loved Eddie Izzard live, back in the day. But that's been ruined now by reading his atrocious autobiography Sad

Lee Mack was very strange live, think he must've been coked up or something

Another that was no good live was Jimmy Carr. Awful.

Shopaholiccmum · 10/01/2019 07:30

Jeremy Clarkson makes me laugh all the time Grin

Alltheprettyseahorses · 10/01/2019 07:48

Donna McPhail
Kathy Burke
Paul O'Grady
Victoria Wood
Peter Kay

FashionFoodLaughs · 10/01/2019 07:48
  1. Rik Mayall
  2. Victoria Wood
  3. Micky Flanagan
As others have said “Only Fools and Horses” for a group cast

Eddie Izzard makes me so sad. The first few times I saw him live, in the 90s, were the first times I can ever remember really properly crying with laughter, unable to breathe, at a comedian.

And I thought his attitude to the way he dressed was so refreshing - "I'm not wearing women's clothes: I'm wearing my clothes" - and now I see he's clambered on to the trans bandwagon and I'm gutted.

HearMeSnore · 10/01/2019 07:53

Another vote for Connolly. I'm fond of musical comedy so I always loved his humorous folk songs.

For the same reason I also loved Victor Borge (the Hungarian Rhapsody routine in particular), Morecambe & Wise, Victoria Wood, and the Two Ronnies.

These days it's Tim Minchin. "Inflatable You" is comic genius.

Skade · 10/01/2019 07:56

poundoflard THAT's where I got moon on a stick from Grin has been one of my stock phrases for years and I could never remember where I heard it - I loved Lee and Herring Smile

SongforSal · 10/01/2019 07:57

Ali Wongs cobra stand up tour. Funniest thing ever.

Skade · 10/01/2019 07:59

Billy Connolly always for me - I've inherited all my dad's vinyl collection and it takes me straight back to childhood, I laugh till I cry.

Rik Mayall
Chris Morris and the whole cast of The Day Today (I still love Steve Coogan in The Bureau Grin )
Peter Kay

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 10/01/2019 08:03

Stewart Lee, the part when he talked about Harry Potter. "Harry Potter and the Tree of Nothing, Harry Potter and the Mitten of Wool." "Have you read Harry Potter, have you, have you, no, I haven't read it, because I'm a 40 YEAR OLD MAN. But I have read the complete works of the romantic and visionary William Blake. So fuck off."

I always show it to people and their response is always "I can't believe you haven't read Harry Potter."

Singlenotsingle · 10/01/2019 08:06

Billy Connolly
Dave Allen
Michael Mckintyre

FoofFighter · 10/01/2019 08:14

Tim Minchin - anything he does in a song

Phill Jupitus (saw him last year live and going again this year)

Gary Meikle - (the eyebrow guy) saw him supporting Jason Manford and he outdid him even though he is good too

FoofFighter · 10/01/2019 08:15

Oh and Rhod Gilbert with his egg sandwich Grin

Juells · 10/01/2019 09:19

ladybird69

Allan Carr live

Yes, find him very funny. Loved his WDYTYA.

Sean Locke is probably my favourite stand-up.

Stewart Francis and Milton Jones for one-liners.
