What items did you buy in 2018 that you will now never want to live without?

Totally frivolous thread. Looking for inspiration of 2019 great purchases (unlike my 2017 spiralizer that is still in the box).

My purchases that I loved in 2018:

Water-Pik (tooth flosser that pulses water onto teeth)

Apple Watch (I love being able to go shopping and not even take out wallet or phone)

Also a throwback to my youth but love sparkling flavoured waters and was bored of shop flavours. Endless choice now :)

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 08/01/2019 02:51

That should have said sodastream!!

Grali · 08/01/2019 03:03

My Greek yogurt maker. I love it

My Roomba, it does the whole ground floor while I’m doing something else, and it forces me to pick things up and tidy them away so it can do its job. It’s really amazing, and greatly exceeded my expectations..

A steam press as I detest ironing. This makes it very quick, easy and painless to do, just close the lid and half a T-shirt is ironed! Takes twenty seconds per item as opposed to lifting a heavy iron and pushing it back and forward relentlessly. Well worth it for me, as I never have to iron again!

Lastly, Apple Watch received as present which has been welded to my wrist ever since. It’s a great fitness tracker, and it’s fascinating to see my routes for walks, even without the 3g/4g version, as it tracks where I am using GPS. Plus it’s drop dead gorgeous.

Wellibobs are short wellies. I have some and they are fab. I live in them during wet, muddy periods and we walk a lot.

Great for when it's raining for school run as I can just sling them on - I work from home so usually dashing out the door to fetch DS and they just seem easier than putting proper shoes on Grin

And my ugg slippers there just so comfortable and make me happy every wear

Boiling water tap - no more kettle! Love it!

FlibbertyGiblets · 08/01/2019 07:32

Tolleshunt Roe Green Soaps : roegreensoap.co.uk
They sell via etsy and i have had good experiences with them. Soaps super mild and cold processed and have used them for ages for DD1 and now DD2. Of course our fav is the rose geranium, but the green one is also really nice.
Also in Germany i buy “naturkosmetik soaps” from the big drugstores but i doubt they are cold processed. Still nice though and better for the skin than standard ones like dove and palmolive etc.

Ticcinalong · 08/01/2019 08:32

Period pants! Combined with my mooncup, of previous years discovery, my heavy periods are now almost zero waste and much more easier to manage.

Harebellmeadow · 08/01/2019 08:39

And i have another new must-have: thermal lined leggings heart ❤️ mine are from aldi and you have to cue up but bliss . . .

That, a recipe for easy curry sauce - just curry powder, a dash of mustard, and cream. Add to sauteed chicken and serve with rice/pasta and herbs. I know its an insult to the name of curry but it is soo tasty and manageable with a clingy baby.

Tolleshunt · 08/01/2019 18:44

Thanks so much Harebell. I will be purchasing. I love rose geranium too, that will be a must!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/01/2019 18:45

My gorgeous Candy Apple red KitchenAid!

I love it. ❤️❤️

Harebellmeadow · 08/01/2019 21:02

BiscuitDrama · 09/01/2019 08:02

flameycakes · 09/01/2019 08:07

My slow cooker x

Auntpetunia2015 · 09/01/2019 08:20

Fleece lined leggings - mine are from b&m

Shark vacuum- love it super suction and every button is clearly labelled and I can take it apart and put it back together without breaking a finger nail (my old one was a nightmare to clean the brushes or open the waste bin thing)

My flat with my new kitchen and bathroom both designed by me for me..walk in shower and freestanding bath! Heaven

MoonriseKingdom · 09/01/2019 08:49

We got a new kettle in 2018 that I was sceptical about (DH wanted it) but now love. You can set the temperature you want the water heated to - ideal for making coffee (Aeropress) which shouldn’t be boiling water. It also has a keep warm button so you can keep the water at the set temperature for a while. I’n Currently on holiday with a vastly inferior kettle and missing mine.

StrawberryTraveller · 09/01/2019 09:04

Living Kitzbuehel Slippers - super warm, great non slip sole, can stuff into bag easily for travel (or just to take to neighbours as I do)

Baavet wool duvet

Loads of houseplants - never had any, now have about 12 as wanted them to 'clean air'. No idea if they help, but they look lovely and I bought hard to kill ones so they are all still alive.

goingtotown · 09/01/2019 09:05

NoWordForFluffy Yes yes yes I’m in love with my red KitchenAid, I stroke it everyday.

Whitelisbon · 09/01/2019 09:06

My electric egg boiler. Pop the eggs in with the right amount of water, and walk away. 5 minutes later, perfectly soft boiled eggs to go with soldiers for the dc breakfast.
Think this year it'll have to be chickens to keep up with the egg demands Grin

OverwateredCheeseplant · 09/01/2019 09:07

Heated throw. I use it every single day, it’s heaven.

StrawberryTraveller · 09/01/2019 09:12

Oh I would love a KitchenAid - a cream coloured one. Not sure I can justify the full cost of one just for making a cake once a month and some bread occasionally.
Dh reckons we would start making homemade sausages with the mincer attachment, and fresh pasta, but I think thats a pipe dream rather than actual reality. I might try and get one in the sale if there is one

Harebellmeadow · 09/01/2019 13:02

I got a kitched aid, about 10 years ago. Used it maybe 20 times 😔. Such a faff. It looks nice though. But takes up counter space because its too heavy to move.
