Anyone still around from the olden days ??

i think I joined when Ds was around 9 months old, so 2003, and then stopped posting around 2013/14 ish maybe, not too sure.

Seems like a life time ago and was just sat here wondering if anyone from then was still around, or if we all buggered off.

I've been here since 2005, with some large breaks, name changes and a de-reg. I was a frequent poster under one specific name for about 7 years, but got freaked about by being quoted by the Independent I think it was - showing my MN age here!!

One of my proudest moments was being quoted by MorningPaper as one of the funniest comments of the week in the weekly roundup. Loved MP. And a lot of the sharpness and wit from some of the early posters. I remember VictoriaPeckham posting frequently and a thread that revealed who she was.

There was a poster who was very, very prolific who was a teacher with one daughter and was one of the mods I think at some time - she had a lovely, very gentle and empathetic posting style.

Recognise loads of posters on here. I remember Mouldies very well, what a shitshow that was. I always thought Justine letting the cat out of the bag hadn't been quite the "accident" it was claimed to be Wink

Got into one or two online tussles with LaQueen, although I mainly remember her as *LeQueen" which I think she was first - or was it the other way round?

Whatever happened to Mamazon? I liked her posts although she also scared the shit out of me Grin

Beerflavourednipples · 07/01/2019 11:12

I don't know if she was ever 'La' Queen actually, many she was always 'Le'?!!!

Peaseblossom22 · 07/01/2019 11:30

Yes I remember the teacher with daughter , can’t remember her posting name though

Greensleeves · 07/01/2019 11:31

Was it Hulababy?

DubBeGoodToMe · 07/01/2019 11:41

Greensleeves YES!!! Thank you. I've got a picture of her in my head from her photo when she was a MOD. There was something lovely and old-fashioned and decidedly serious about her which was a great - and tbh, very amusing - contrast to all the other regulars with their arch comments and swears.

And I remember your name well btw!

AnyFucker · 07/01/2019 11:53

Mamazon was outed as a massive trolly troll, IIRC

storynanny · 07/01/2019 11:57

I joined many years ago after a link led me here instead of gransnet! Although my grandchildren are the same age of most of you posting these days I find loads of interesting and useful info which keeps me up to date.
I have learned about envelope neck vests
I have learned how to be an acceptable MIL
I have learned not to post on the education threads, as despite being an infant teacher from 1978-2018, I am always wrong ! Especially if I dare to give an opinion on phonics!
I posted years ago on a resistant eaters thread, as my youngest son did not eat more than 8 items (beige coloured) from the age of 6 months until 17 years of age. I hope all of the mums on that thread now have children who have thrived despite the ridiculous diets our children ate! Mine is now 27 years of age and still is a little fussy, but survived and is healthy.
I am more wary about posting anything in the last year or so as some threads seem to get so nasty really quickly.

DubBeGoodToMe · 07/01/2019 12:02

Ooh really? I think I missed that, although now you've said that, I've got some dim recollection that she had a big falling out with BitOfFun and the others she was tight with, but I can't remember the details, so it may be it was just something I was told about and didn't 'see'.

BollocksIsNoACompleteSentence · 07/01/2019 12:23
  1. Fuck me, just realised what a long time I have been here! I NC loads now though. And don't post as much.

Wasn't CAT ME YOU CUNT Contact A Talker? Didn't we use to pay £5?

The threads I loved the most were Booble Pate (I was on that and it was so funny as it was "live") and the Angela Hernandez one - I had quite a few contributions to that BlushGrin Also what was the one where someone posted and their phone kept repeating lines? Was it Chaos and some bread or something? Also remember someone trying to either strike out or do a link or similar, and it kept fucking up.

I'm on a couple of long running quiches threads, FWR, and post for specific SN advice sometimes (originally why I joined) but fucking hate the most of AIBU, there's some total twats on there these days.

I just remembered, one of the very first threads I read, I went and immediately bought a Boden cardigan off the back of it Grin

Lovely to see old names here.

BollocksIsNoACompleteSentence · 07/01/2019 12:31

It also makes me think that the "unmasking" of trolls was so much more of a bigger deal as the proportion of them was much less (fewer?). Remember Judge Flounce, and was it Lavender or someone? And the twins lady (ruining it for twin parents everywhere Angry) although it was blindingly obvious they were a troll, tbf.

These days I eyeroll at shitloads of threads and assign them to the "Yeah, right that totally happened" department...

I still wear my mumsnet scarf sometimes, though it’s very much past it I’m sure - we need a new one!

bengalcat · 07/01/2019 12:52

Sock puppetry - had to google that one - my initial thought was whether it bore any resemblance to the two Australian guys I think they are who do puppetry of the penis - it doesn’t .

Neverunderfed · 07/01/2019 12:53

Was she? Maybe it was before that I saw her on S&B then.

I remember mamazon, very trolly troll.

Believeitornot · 07/01/2019 12:55

2009 - but that doesn’t seem that long ago!

However it clearly is - I joined when pregnant with my eldest who’s now 9.

MN had me sniggering at my desk so I had to join in.

I’ve name changed since then so many times. I prefer it that way

DubBeGoodToMe · 07/01/2019 12:58

Not surprised that LEQueen (I'm on old skool name terms with her Wink) got busted for sock puppeting. I remember once being sure she was doing this years ago to back herself up, when questioned about some of her lies.

I used to know who she was in RL as she was FB friends with some other Mumsnetters I was friends with, but I've forgotten her name.

Could never understand why she lied because, for example, it was clear from her FB that she'd gone to a former poly rather than the Russell Group university she claimed Grin

Neverunderfed · 07/01/2019 13:05

I'm glad to see you called it university Dub and not uni, she would be very scathing about the latter. 😁

DubBeGoodToMe · 07/01/2019 13:09

Neverunderfed Grin

TanteRose · 07/01/2019 13:19

Been here under this name since 2007.

PP mentioned CheerfulYank - not seen her for aaaages. She and I have the same birthday...

Slightlyjaded · 07/01/2019 13:20

And even though I shouldn’t, I kind of miss Gabby Loggon

Slightlyjaded · 07/01/2019 13:32

The thing I most recall about LaQueen (she will also always be a ‘La’ to me) was that her husband was apparently a dead ringer for Matt Le Blanc.

And was it Pagwatch who had the beautifully chocolate box house? She has a pic of it in the snow on her profile and it looked idyllic.

Early names that randomly spring to mind do me are

Af
Line runner
Titsalinabumsquash
Cod
Riven
Pagwatch
getorfmyland
MrsDeVete
BOF
Showofhands
Heartstrumpsdiamonds
Dittany
Mathanxiety
Atyourcervix
Colditz
Stealthpolarbear
Kew-Cumber
Hulkygully

BollocksIsNoACompleteSentence · 07/01/2019 13:41

"LaQueen had a very unique posting style- I thought her observations were v funny but she wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some people thought she was very boastful, but I thought she was capable of being very self deprecating"

Is that you LaQueen? WinkGrin

Slightlyjaded · 07/01/2019 13:43

Is that you LaQueen?

😂

Neverunderfed · 07/01/2019 13:43

Pagwatch was lovely, I'm sure I see her every now and then.

LeQ's husband was the ultimate alpha male remember, the type to forget/lose a beemer. Wink

Tethersend was always very practical too, and great at finding stuff on s&b.

notacooldad · 07/01/2019 13:44

Can anyone remember, DaftPunk( I think it was) I'm sure she was Irish and her posts werr quite belligerent
Also someone who referred to her DH as something like the Hubster, something likevthat,

I used to like HippyChick.aswell.
