Would you ghost or tell him to fuck off?

About 6 months ago I got talking to a man at a bar, he seemed ok, wasn't immediately attracted to him but he asked for my number and I thought I would give it a chance.

He started texting quite frequently, was nice enough but I didn't really feel a spark, again hard to know over text message, we had a few conversations on the phone and arranged to meet up. We had a really good night out in a local pub and I was feeling more positive about carrying on talking to him etc. For the next few weeks we were texting and speaking to each other on the phone etc and he was asking when I was next free to go out for dinner. We had arranged a date for two weeks away but one Tuesday he mentioned he was free that night and I had a sporting event cancelled so I called him and asked him if he wanted to go for a quick drink that night. He sounded a bit weird and said 'oh i've never been asked out by a woman before lololol' but said he would love to come.

I had just arrived at the pub that night when he sent me a text message 'sorry can't make it something came up'. That was the last I ever heard from him! I text him and said I hoped everything was ok. No reply. I text once more two days later and again no reply. He deleted me from facebook, instagram etc about an hour after the last text. Completely ghosted.

Low and behold he's just text me 'hello stranger, long time no see, how was your xmas' Hmm

I'm torn between completely ghosting him back or sending him a text telling him to fuck off. Veering towards fuck off at the moment. But would probably regret giving him the time of day in the morning.

Thoughts?

Silence is golden.

MiddleClassProblem · 06/01/2019 00:42

I wouldn’t bother with a fuck off. Also that might engage him to reply. Just ignore, block and DELETE HIS NUMBER.

Ghostornot · 06/01/2019 00:45

I hadn't deleted his number so I would know it was him if he called. I had changed his name to PUB DICKHEAD though Grin. I certainly haven't contacted him since he bailed.

I know silence is golden but I really want to send some pithy, sarcastic reply. Otherwise he might just think the message didn't deliver and he'll never know what a twat he is

Ugh the creeps next conquest failed. Ghost him! Take the power back.

tectonicplates · 06/01/2019 00:50

Honestly don't. I know it's tempting but don't waste any more time on him.

JennyHolzersGhost · 06/01/2019 00:50

“Who’s this?”

SoleBizzz · 06/01/2019 00:52

He gave you no explanation did he? No. Why give him one?. To call him out in he behaviour gives him the explanation that you're pissed off with his behaviour so he'll know to move on for definite. He is bored. This is why he text. Now block the pig.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 06/01/2019 00:52

I always find saying "who is this?" Is quite a good response. Not sure what to do after that? Maybe as others have said ignore him?

MiddleClassProblem · 06/01/2019 00:53

What will a sarcastic reply or a fuck off do?

Surely the goal is to get this twat out your life so you block and delete... blocking means you don’t need to save his number to know who he is when he messages.

potatoscone · 06/01/2019 00:55

I like 'who is this?', but it is a bit of an invite for further communication. I would just ignore. Sorry he was a cock.

Drogosnextwife · 06/01/2019 01:00

Definitely ignore but my fingers would be itching to tell him to fuck right off.

mirren3 · 06/01/2019 01:01

Definitely reply with who is this?
You 1 Pub Dickhead 0

TrueFriendsStabYouInTheFront · 06/01/2019 01:02

Say who is this and then when he replies, ignore! Grin

AtrociousCircumstance · 06/01/2019 01:04

How about, “Hey! Is that ‘different man’s name?’ How are you doing?” Grin

Reaa · 06/01/2019 01:05

I like the 'who's this' response or 'sorry, I don't have this number, stored in my phone, who are you?'

Nousernameforme · 06/01/2019 01:05

Do the whose this then if he replies just say oh er no thanks and block.

CakeNinja · 06/01/2019 01:10

Ignore!
Don’t engage in any further communication with this pillock.

hmmwhatatodo · 06/01/2019 01:14

Type out your reply to him then delete it all and send nothing. If he was normal he wouldnt have acted so odd in the first place. He could turn out to be a real pain so i’d forget about answering if i were you.

civicxx · 06/01/2019 01:15

100% text back saying who's this
I've done this before, it's golden

Oh, hi Dave (as long as that's not his name), had a great Christmas. Steve (another made up name) came over for a few nights and we warmed our toes in front of the wood burner, if you get my drift Wink, so had great company, great gifts and am looking forward to a new start for 2019. You never know, if Steve works out you might be getting a wedding invitation this time next year!

Just make sure both the names you use are not the same as the idiots real name.

MrWolfknowsthetime · 06/01/2019 03:46

I think what is most likely to piss these kind of people off is no reaction at all. So, I would not reply and not block.

Piebeansandchips · 06/01/2019 03:50

A few options mentioned
A) ignore
B) send a blank message as a reply and keep sending them whenever he replies
C) who this? Are you the one with a misshapen penis or the one with herpes? If it's option two, my bad
Obviously all us grown ups would like to think we'd take option one but if you don't please start a new thread with screen grabs

rededucator · 06/01/2019 03:56

I'd be so tempted to lead him on for a while in order to slip into conversation why he ghosted me. Then call him out on it.

KittyClaus · 06/01/2019 03:59

Another vote for ‘who is this?’ Then silence and blocking.

Surfingtheweb · 06/01/2019 04:43

It's a numbers game, men send these texts to loads of women knowing that someone will reply. He probably won't give a toss about anything you say that is negative or if he gets no reply at all, he is just casting his net to see who responds & either be his victim again or take his crumb of attention. Just delete the message & his number & concentrate your energy on something positive. Life is too short to waste your energy on players.
