Just about to have a bath and want to listen to one of these.

Whats the best one you've listened to?

David Jason and George Michael are both favourites of mine.

Nicola Adam's music choices were hideous and I morphed into my mother that day "It's all just noise". James Corden was quite an emotional one.

maras2 · 06/01/2019 01:12

Mark Gatiss

Thanks to this thread, I’ve just had the pleasure of listening to David Nott’s podcast. What a truly amazing, inspirational and genuinely lovely man. I’ve sobbed throughout and am wringing out the tissues. If you have a chance, please have a listen. Amazing.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 06/01/2019 22:12

Barlow was a SCREAM. "Couldn't get rid of Prince" Hmm

soundsgreektome · 06/01/2019 22:21

I too just listened to David Nott.

And balled my eyes out.

Highlandcathedral · 06/01/2019 22:23

I loved David Nott’s episode and cried a lot at the story of the meeting with the Queen. I can’t even tell the story without crying. Off to check out some of the others for dog walking listening.

thegirlwiththedolphintattoo · 06/01/2019 22:25

Both Joanna Lumley episodes
Hugh Grant
The very recent Jacqueline Gold episode

CustardSliceKid · 06/01/2019 22:29

Judith Kerr (Mog books) is one I remember from around 2003/2004. Sobbed my heart out listening to her talk about her playmates in Berlin in the 1920s who didn't survive the Holocaust.

gegs73 · 06/01/2019 22:36

Mine are going way back on the archives, but Kenny Everett, Kenneth Williams and Jarvis Cocker. Jarvis mainly because it was a really old interview and Sue Lawley really seemed to dislike him 😁 Sue Townend was also brilliant.

Paddy1234 · 06/01/2019 23:03

Thank you for the recommendation of David Nott - amazing man.
Loved the Philip Tracey one as well!

despondentatwork · 06/01/2019 23:09

Can I ask a really silly question? How do you all access & listen to DID?

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 06/01/2019 23:15

I listen to it on Castbox (free download). I also really enjoyed David Baddiel and Martina Cole.

Cooloncraze · 06/01/2019 23:30

Definitely Mark Rylance. Best ever

secondhanddreamsdealer · 06/01/2019 23:45

Actually someone reminded me about the most outrageous one. Not bad or even worst - just outrageous.

Nile Rodgers. 5 out of the 10 were either his own songs or he co-wrote them. With the latter he made sure he gave himself maximum credit for the song being a hit or existing it the first place Grin

Also for the most outrageous childhood memory

"My parents were terrific. Really fantastic. They were also both drug addicts".

It had me go WTF out loud in my commute to work Grin

tinstar · 06/01/2019 23:46

Thanks so much to those who recommended David Nott. I've just listened to it in bed and my pillow is rather damp (yes, it was lunch with the Queen that did for me ...)

What a brilliant man.

leaveby10 · 06/01/2019 23:53

Bear Grylls stood out for me,
Love Tracey Thorne - in all that she does though!
Need to go and listen to them all again - I do prefer the less famous interviewees, as their stories are often the most surprising.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 06/01/2019 23:59

Apologies if I missed it but surprised Dame Judy Dench hasn’t been mentioned yet. She chose lots of gloomy pieces which she then regrets and by the end she (and I) were in tears of laughter.

digitallyremastered · 07/01/2019 00:16

Charlie Brooker had the most ridiculous music - hated it.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 07/01/2019 06:38

How do you all access & listen to DID?

Through the BBC iplayer app. These days you have to register and log in.

celtiethree · 07/01/2019 10:01

I use the RSSRadio app for podcasts. You can download DID on it as well.

BoogleMcGroogle · 07/01/2019 13:30

I love DIDs, and most of the excellent ones I remember have been mentioned.

I did enjoy Jacqueline Gold this summer. She runs Ann Summers and had lots of energy and funny stories, and then threw a curveball speaking so movingly and openly about her son who died as a baby.

And she chose a series of awesome disco classics.

kissprudencekeith · 07/01/2019 13:38

Denise Robertson (This Morning's agony aunt) had me crying on the bus a few years ago.

Worst was George Clooney, he just didn't get it. The first Michael Palin one is funny, the presenter really laid into him for not getting a first at uni. Amanda Levete, Sue Perkins and Kathy Burke's are all very good for different reasons.

Bittermints · 07/01/2019 13:41

It's along, long time ago but Cecil Lewis. Not sure if it's one of the archive episodes available. He was an amazing man. Flew in WW1 and then co-founded the BBC. His war memories were very moving.

nauticant · 07/01/2019 13:50

Was a RAF pilot but can’t remeber his name.

Sounds like that would have been Captain Eric "Winkle" Brown. A special for the 3,000th programme. A terrific listen.

Lambbone · 07/01/2019 13:59

Sir Alec Jeffreys, who developed genetic fingerprinting - what a lovely man.

And very recently, Tracey Thorne.
