Just that really.

Swayed by the huawei camera but concerned about all other aspects of the Huawei....

My family are all moving to Huawei as we replace our phones. We are very happy and completely won over.

Ava1988 · 04/01/2019 17:53

I have one and I love it. Amazing battery life!

Giggage · 04/01/2019 17:54

I've had the p9 since it came out a few years ago. I've never looked back at other phones since.

Brilliant, brilliant phones...can not recommended them enough.

OddestSock · 04/01/2019 17:54

I switched a couple of months that ago from a 6s to a p20 pro. It was far cheaper than a newer iPhone on contract & I like it. I don't know if I like it as much, but it's fine & the camera is amazing.

apintofharpandapacketofdates · 04/01/2019 17:55

Huawei faultless imo. Great handset. Although I can understand it might be more practical to remain with iphone in your circumstances.

ballsdeep · 04/01/2019 17:58

I have and I'll never ever go back to an iphone
The camera is amazing and I just love it

PivotPivotPivottt · 04/01/2019 17:59

I've got the P20 pro and I really like it I'm so glad I went for it but I have always had a Samsung Galaxy since the first one was released so it wasn't too big a change for me. When I was upgrading I considered going for the iPhone but was advised against it from the staff in the phone shop as most people regret switching from Android to Apple and vice versa. I'm glad I went for the Huawei rather than the S9 it's a great phone and great price.

Yamg · 04/01/2019 18:02

I went from an iPhone to a huawei mate 10 pro, I'd never go back to apple now! Love the pgone and the camera is awesome.

princessTiasmum · 04/01/2019 18:03

My son has got one and loves it, i have a Samsung, but next one will be a Huawei

Sitranced · 04/01/2019 18:03

What are the concerns? Huawei a far superior product. Battery life, camera, op system is faultless. Ridiculously cheap for what you get. I love the customisation available for the look and feel.

Blessingsdragon1 · 04/01/2019 18:06

Love my pro - have been a Samsung user for 20 years But the s9 looked a lot of money for not much up grade - now have all you can eat everything with fab camera for less than old contact

Toddlerteaplease · 04/01/2019 18:11

I'm an iPhone devotee but my friend brought a really cheap Huwaie, I was really impressed with it. Screen not as good quality as an iPhone but for the price it looks like a brilliant phone.

Alongwaytogo · 04/01/2019 18:17

P20 pro user here. Best phone I've ever had. Fast, responsive and the camera is amazing! Not sure what your concerns are? They are far superior in all reviews I've seen, I won't use any apple product now, they are way behind the times and so greedy!

P2202 · 04/01/2019 18:21

I have one and I love it. Would not go back to an iPhone now. Great battery life and pics are amazing. Go for it.

Autumnchill · 04/01/2019 18:25

I got one but went back to the iPhone but it wasn't because of the phone as such as I thought it was excellent (camera is superior to iPhone) but I like the size of my iPhone 5 as I can use it one handed and my thumb reaches across and the new phone was just too big in my hand, didn't like the fact the sensor to open it was on the back, meant I had to keep picking it up rather than just pressing the 'home' button on the front of my iPhone whilst it was on my desk plus the Apple Car Play is better than the Android one.

finks100 · 04/01/2019 18:27

My boyfriend has one, previously owned an iPhone. Apparently Huawei make the part for iPhones so quality is good and it only took as about 10minutes to work out how to use it compared to iPhone and it’s loads cheaper- he pays £15 a month compared to the £100 a month a new iPhone would be!

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 04/01/2019 18:27

Just went from Samsung to Huawei. It was half the price of a new Samsung, still has face recognition, fingerprint sensor, fantastic battery life. Apps all still work fine. My only criticism is that it doesn't have a separate home button, so I keep accidentally hitting the one on screen instead of the space bar, but a new Samsung also has this issue.
Am super happy with mine and can't believe I nearly dropped £700 on a Samsung.

DramaAlpaca · 04/01/2019 18:32

DS & I both had early, basic Huawei models and neither of us liked them, but it seems we are in the minority here. I wouldn't touch an iPhone with a ten foot pole. I'm sticking firmly to my Samsung.

Theknacktoflying · 04/01/2019 18:36

sitranced - I think the controversy is around the fact that it has Chinese technology and a fear (unfounded?) that it might contain technology that can be compromised/used for spying ...

WHY HAVE SOME GOVERNMENTS BANNED HUAWEI EQUIPMENT?
US intelligence agencies allege that Huawei is linked to China's government and that its equipment could contain "backdoors" for use by government spies. No evidence has been produced publicly and the firm has repeatedly denied the claims.
But suspicions persist. Concern now centres on the deployment of fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks, where Huawei is at the cutting edge. A new law in China requiring any domestic firm to assist the government when asked has also stoked concern.
The US government has taken a series of steps to block the firm from US markets, including banning government purchases of Huawei gear and denying government help to any carrier that uses Huawei equipment. Top carriers Verizon Communications and AT&T pulled out of deals to distribute Huawei smartphones earlier this year.

IWannSee I have the P20 Pro and it has a seperate home button but also an on screen one and I always hit it instead of the space bar that's my biggest annoyance with the phone!

It only has an on screen back button which is really annoying when using Snapchat. After viewing someone photo you swipe up to start a chat but with this phone you have to swipe up to bring the back button up so when I'm trying to go back I'm constantly bring up the chat box which starts a 'pivot is typing...' notification for the other person.

Autumnchill · 04/01/2019 18:53

@Theknacktoflying, I didn't like one of the start up questions which is basically, we would like to monitor everything you're saying in order that we get to learn your voice and make searches better. Hmmm, no thanks!

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 04/01/2019 18:57

All phones listen and record us. If you turn off their ability to do this, you lose half the functions. I don't believe for one minute the ads aren't specifically targeted based on our phone usage and conversations.

Gimmeesugar · 04/01/2019 18:59

Huawei technology has been banned by many countries now including the US, New Zealand and Australia and most recently BT in the U.K. have refused to work with their 5g tech. All this is over concerns over the Chinese governments involvment with them and the potential for spying. I wouldn’t personally buy one.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 04/01/2019 19:07

What are they going to see though? Me talking about Gavin and Stacey on MN and my Amazon shopping cart? Spying must be really boring.

Giggage · 04/01/2019 19:12

You could argue the same for Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter etc...and there's a shit load more sensitive information on everyone there then there is on your average phone.
