What time does your 4 year old go to bed?

cjt110 · 03/01/2019 19:32

Im always torn between him having an early night which inevitably ends up in being chased off to bed and like tonight, hes still faffing 45 mins later. Or letting him go to bed later and falling to sleep quickly.

His bedtime is 7. Sometimes I aim for a 630 and hes asleep by 7. Sometimes hes in bed, or on the sofa to sleep at 7.. asleep by 730.

In the past few months he has been having bad dreams and waking in the night so he wants us with him when he sleeps.

Due to the layout of our home, we turn the tv and lounge lights off when hes settling in to avoid distractions for him.. (his room is off the lounge with frosted glass walls if you like).

My daughters 5 and she goes to bed between 7 and 9 most night it's half 7 8 o'clock when I put her to bed. Sometimes it's half 8 quarter to 9 depends how long she's in the bath for. Takes me ages trying to get her out

PenApple · 03/01/2019 19:50

Mine went to bed 6ish at that age but went to sleep within minutes, so I think if they took a while to settle I’d be inclined to leave it a little later.

7-7.30. No issues settling (I don’t think, I don’t stay in the room!)

Somewhereovertherainbow13 · 03/01/2019 19:53

Mine has is in bed for 7, if he’s up later he gets over tired and starts having tantrums. Mine are all up early though so he’s usually awake around 6.

PoutySprout · 03/01/2019 19:55

DD has never gone to bed before 8:30pm. At 4 she would go at around 9pm because she was exhausted from full time school. At weekends more like 10pm.

lornathewizzard · 03/01/2019 19:58

7.30 / 8ish on a normal day. If she's had a sneaky nap more like 8/9 ish. Up anytime between 6 and 7.30

Mesmeri · 03/01/2019 20:00

7.30 - 8ish. Ideally asleep by 8.30 at the latest.

Fairylightfurore · 03/01/2019 20:02

Bedtime is 7, he's usually asleep in minutes.

RiddleyW · 03/01/2019 20:06

I try to time it so that he gets out the bath at 7 (earlier if he’s really tired) and then it’s pyjamas and stories then lights out. He’s normally asleep by about 7.20.

AndCallMeNancy · 03/01/2019 20:08

Any time between 7-8pm on a normal night. Usually drops off quickly. Not tonight though as she slept 3:30-5:30pm in the car on a long journey. She is 5 in AprilS

Orlande · 03/01/2019 20:16

We aim for 7.30, it's usually between 7.15-7.45. He's always asleep within 5-10 minutes.

Juanbablo · 03/01/2019 20:18

Between 6:30 and 7. He sleeps for 12 hours or sometimes a bit more. Except for last night when he had me up half the night!!

confusedofengland · 03/01/2019 20:21

Between 7 & 8pm in term time, often nearer 8 than 7. In holidays can be up to 8.30pm or later on special occasions (Christmas Day was 10pm, New Year was 12.15 etc). He sleeps in the next day if he's been late & always sleeps through the night, has about 11 hours usually.

User260486 · 03/01/2019 20:25

8 pm, usually asleep by 8-30. Earlier does not work for us at all. Wakes up at 7/7-30.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 03/01/2019 20:27

645 upstairs and into bath
650-710 ish give 10mo twins their bottles and pop into cots
715 out of bath
Milk, story, teeth, sleeping bag

Bed by 730 ideally, sometimes a bit later if twins hard to settle

Normally straight to sleep but about once a week we have "my eyes want to stay awake" or "I have too much power to sleep" shouted down the stairs Hmm

FraterculaArctica · 03/01/2019 20:30

We try 7.30 but he's very rarely asleep before 8.30. So just an hour of faffing and grumpy parents. Wakes at 6-6.30.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 03/01/2019 20:31

Normally lights out by 8 and might take up to half an hour to fall asleep. Gets up around 7:30.

Youmadorwhat · 03/01/2019 20:31

I have a 3 yr old and a 5yr old bedtime is 7/7.30 and they are asleep within minutes usually

Ragwort · 03/01/2019 20:31

He's no longer 4 but bedtime was 7pm, lights off and he self settled.

Fabuleuse · 03/01/2019 20:33

Exactly the same as @user260486! He does occasionally sleep until nearer 8am, and I think we may have to make bedtime a little earlier, say 7.30pm, when he starts school in August to ensure he gets enough sleep and we're not late!

MorningCuppa · 03/01/2019 20:41

Between 6.30-7pm falls asleep quickly though.

Bigheadache · 03/01/2019 20:43

8/8:30pm and awake about 5am!

SuperHeroGirl · 03/01/2019 20:44

7pm for both D.C. (2 and 4). No faffing, fast asleep within minutes.

moleeye · 03/01/2019 20:45

Between 7.15-7.30, asleep in minutes
