Sofa to skinny bride!

I'm getting married in September and I've picked a very fitted, unforgiving dress!

Since I had my child last year, my figure isn't quite what it was. Earlier, I was sat on the sofa whinging about my squidgy stomach and thought "to hell with this, I'm going for a run", and spontaneously went!

I'm really not very fit, I was only out for around 25 mins. Managed to run (only!!!) just over 0.8 miles, then turned around and walked most of the way back. It's a start I suppose.

Anyone fancy keeping me going through my journey? Hoping to run a couple of times a week to begin.

Well done
You can do it!
I started running for first time ever in my life in 2010, started running for a minute then walking for a minute and so on
Ended up running a few 10ks and a couple of half marathons then got bored and injured
Haven’t ran since 2014 but I’m getting bigger and bigger so I’m going to try to get back to it
Starting this Monday 3 times a week
Have you looked up the couch to 5k programme? X

Download the NHS couch to 5k app - i finally finished it last year on my 4th attempt and was so chuffed with myself. There's also a C25K support thread on here, i would post even when it was quiet, partly for accountability and partly so anyone starting out would be encouraged.

MrsSpidey · 03/01/2019 20:39

I've heard about the couch to 5k thing but not really looked into it as tonight's decision to just "do it" was very spur of the moment.

I've come to the realisation whinging about what I don't like won't change it. I've also booked a HIIT class for one night next week.

Thanks for the encouragement.. we can do it!!

Running’s great for metabolism and toning - but take care you din’t ‘Reward’ yourself with food after! It’s easy to overeat when exercising!
Try 30d shred too to tone up

MrsSpidey · 03/01/2019 21:03

That's a great tip @Veterinari thank you

Park run is great as well

ChiaraRimini · 03/01/2019 21:25

Good for you but weight loss is 80% diet 20% exercise so you either need to diet as well or pick another dress. I'm sure you will look amazing anyway.

Me please!

2.5 stone to lose for my wedding and I started 2 days ago!

Come and join us on our run 1000km thread (or any target)

The Run/Walk/Swim 1000km / 1000m in 2019 challenge www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/3460344-The-Run-Walk-Swim-1000km-1000m-in-2019-challenge

I started last January, same as you I just thought 'I'm going to do it'. Promised I'd run for 10 minutes a day, and ended up running almost 1000 miles (998) in the year. I lost 3 stone but I agree with the poster above, you have to really watch your diet as running gives you an appetite like nothing else.

MrsSpidey · 04/01/2019 15:58

Poached eggs for breakfast
Ham salad for lunch
And later having homemade chilli on jacket potato for tea

I'm planning running again tonight too!
