What are the chances that by summer trump will be gone and Brexit will be cancelled?

Street party here if so!

Hot weather in the summer we have riots either way.

Brexit fucks us over if we go or if we stay.

No easy options, no sunlit uplands, no easy outs.

I used to consider myself an optimist. Not anymore.

KnittingSister · 03/01/2019 18:54

Can I join you? GinWineCake

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 18:54

Hmm true. And trump might go out in a strip, burning some bridges on his way out.

What a day that would be!

Jsmith99 · 03/01/2019 18:58

Trump gone -zero. Unless he drops dead of a heart attack, which considering he is a life-long teetotal non-smoker whose parents both lived well into their 90s, is unlikely. We can hope, though....

Brexit cancelled - also zero. But it is very possible that it could be postponed, pending a general election or second referendum.

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 19:03

Why do you think he won't go? I don't understand what's happened today but the news suggested it could be the beginning of the end for him

We can but dream, OP.

Holidayshopping · 03/01/2019 19:05

I don’t think either idea is that crazy!

It will be interesting to see what next week brings when parliament reconvenes.

Fredathetortoise · 03/01/2019 19:07

Nil. We're all going to hell in a handcart.

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 19:12

Holidayshopping, join us on the picnic rug and have a glass of pimms

Hello ladies and gentlemen welcome to shit creek tours.

This summer will be up it. You can enjoy the view of desolation and misery as the country crumbles around us.

Unfortunately, we seem to have mislaid our paddles.

When we reach our destination we will be going into the brewery. Is any one on this tour capable of organising a party?

Both of those things would make my year! Hell, even just one of them would be excellent! I'd definitely choose cancelling Brexit over binning Trump if I could though (sorry America).

Believeitornot · 03/01/2019 19:19

Neither of this things will happen. As much as I want to I just can’t see it

bananacakeorkale · 03/01/2019 19:19

Yes I'm hoping it's like a pendulum and we have reached peak shit now.

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 19:20

Yeah trump will be gone eventually anyway. No one will remember him when we start reaping the benefits of Brexit in 2069.

OP posts:
Moussemoose · 03/01/2019 19:21

Hell this way -->

Handcarts are available.

mimibunz · 03/01/2019 19:22

Agree about the pendulum and hoping it will swing the other way. A hot summer of no Brexit and no Trump.

BestIsWest · 03/01/2019 19:26

Is this thread going to be a Beacon Of Optimism? I follow the Westminstenders threads so I need something to counteract downright bitter honesty I get from there.

Pimms would be lovely thank you.

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 19:28

Cheers. Here's to trump reverting to an inconsequential figure of fun, and Brexit being only an excellent scrabble word.

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 03/01/2019 19:29

I wish, OP, I wish.

Sadly I fear I won't live long enough to see either (and that's with a life expectancy of up to 30 more years).

scaryteacher · 03/01/2019 19:37

Zero chance of either. Trump will be re-elected in 2020 if he stands again I think, and Brexit has to happen, as, iirc, the rules on A50 have changed (which is why the PM submitted it when she did). If we don't carry it through now, then leaving will be harder later.

StealthPolarBear · 03/01/2019 19:57

Boo. Buzz kill.

The mid-terms would not suggest that, nor the swing to the left in governorships. Too many red states turned blue, and he needs those red states to win the electoral college. As we already saw in 2016, he's incapable of winning the popular vote.
