What are the chances that by summer trump will be gone and Brexit will be cancelled?

Street party here if so!

Having said that, I very much doubt Trump will go this year. He's not likely to resign, and the Senate is not going to allow him to be impeached.

MorningsEleven · 03/01/2019 20:10

I'm still hoping I'll wake up, it was all a dream and Bobby Ewing is in my shower (scrubbing the grout).

KennDodd · 03/01/2019 20:14

My Christmas wish would have come true!

Hazardswan · 03/01/2019 20:14

Revoking article50 is more likely to happen than trump impeachment.

Would be nice if both happened but if I had to pick one it'd be stop brexit any day! Sorry America!

WineCake

Imagine if both happened in one day? The joy across the sea would be palpable.

Both unlikely I'd imagine, but right up there with winning the lottery as fantasies go!

Quartz2208 · 03/01/2019 20:20

Was in America over Christmas and I think Syria has prompted a slight shift in viewpoint in that he has pissed off his party this time.

Brexit - who knows

Holidayshopping · 03/01/2019 20:22

@stealthpolarbear

Holidayshopping, join us on the picnic rug and have a glass of pimms

Excellent-I’ll bring some snacks!

Justanotherlurker · 03/01/2019 20:22

None, because even if we scrape away the IDPOL bullshit there is an underlying reason why Trump and Brexit has come about that the vocal populace have still not got their heads around and are still shouting racist, thick, didn't know what they was voting for, turkeys voting for christmas and still can't offer any self reflection on a basic level.

For all the daily mail, s*n, fox news readers only listening to bullshit headlines there is an opposite more vocal who only read the Guardian, CNN etc, its people slinging shit at each other and its the supposed left that apparently care more for the poor/disenfranchised, but as we have seen with both Trump and Brexit, as soon as they vote differently the real vitrol comes out.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 03/01/2019 20:23

Neither will happen. By July, we'll be on a par with Hungary, a far right shit hole with an economy about 60% of its current size. Trump will keep going, probably by simply not turning up to his impeachment. He's shown no sign of complying with laws he finds inconvenient, like the Constitution.

Moussemoose · 03/01/2019 20:24

The far left supports Brexit.

StoorieHoose · 03/01/2019 20:24

Maybe if Brexit goes ahead we will have an autumn of IndyRef 2 to look forward to / dispair about (depending on your outlook)

BigStripeyBastard · 03/01/2019 20:30

Trump is unravelling very very quickly. He's always been a babbling, incomprehensible loon but I pray that he will just lose the plot completely and his many lies, fuck ups and blatently impeachable deeds catch up with him ASAP. I can only hope he doesn't manage to start World War 3 while he is on his slide into the abyss.

Brexit is probably inevitable, sadly. We'll be rioting, stockpiling beans and possibly eating rats before the end of the summer (which will be ridiculously hot, with rolling blackouts and water pumps on every street) Part of me thinks that is unlikely and the EU cannot possibly watch us descend into anarchy but the other part thinks, well, why should they? We brought this on ourselves.

Quartz2208 · 03/01/2019 20:41

Personally I do wonder if there is no some early signs of Alzheimers (his father) had it starting to occur.

Watched the US Apprentice recently and he was so different on that

Justanotherlurker · 03/01/2019 20:43

Was in America over Christmas and I think Syria has prompted a slight shift in viewpoint in that he has pissed off his party this time.

I regularly work in the most woke area that is silicon valley, America is a very complex beast that is wrestling with the idea of "everyone can make it" and the fact money/class is the biggest divider in the country(comparables to brexit), you would be surprised at the amount of youth who are pointing out the hypocrisy of the apparent left leaning media with the stance on Syria, and of Sanders etc.

'America sneezes and the rest of the world gets a cold'is being played out, stir in a bit of russian interference as a bogey man that ignores they was also pumping money into Black lives matter and anarchist groups then claim that its only the right who are fooled by divide and conquer is why we are in this shit show.

Jsmith99 · 03/01/2019 20:43

The only way Trump might be impeached is if irrefutable evidence emerges that he has either taken money from the Russians or, more likely, Putin has dirt on him and is blackmailing him.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised by the latter...

He may be a shit show, but he really isn't unraveling in the wider electorate, considering you think he has some blatently impeachable deeds shows that your source is very biased and you willfully ignore not only what Obama did in power (hint he was quite the warmonger, which is kind of ironic in people saying the US shouldn't be world police until they pull out and its somehow trumps issue) in some kind of child like political view that the country resets when a new party takes power, and we the country is full of misogynists because they didn't vote for a woman for sexist reasons even though she is a Reagan in a skirt.

Its not those who are voting without knowing the facts thats wrong, its those trying to mask voting for the status quo as being considerate of the disenfranchised

Stupomax · 03/01/2019 21:08

But even if that happens, the Republican-controlled Senate then has to impeach him with a two-thirds majority.

BigStripeyBastard · 03/01/2019 21:15

Justanotherlurker

Ok then, I'll just go with him openly mocking and impersonating a disabled man and advocating 'grabbing women by the pussy'.
This individual should not be in a position of power. I would question putting him in charge of a McDonalds, tbh.....

BigStripeyBastard · 03/01/2019 21:17

Stupomax yes, sadly I don't think it will happen but the man is a liar, a paranoid fantasist and a crook.

Justanotherlurker · 03/01/2019 21:19

I will caveat by not offering option either way on thr rights or wrongs, but we will skim over the snowden leaks of deep state influence, and look at this bogey man of russia.

Reddit which is in the top 10 websites views worldwide and in the top 3 for the US, was harassed by users because the shit show of subs such as /r/the_donald/ had gained traction because apparent Russian influence.

The results that came out and subs/users that where banned where predominantly left leaning, its a thorn in side of those who profess the divide and conquer meme

luckylavender · 03/01/2019 21:23

Not just because I hate it, but Brexit can be stopped. Whether it will be remains to be seen.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/01/2019 21:54

If trump is impeached im having an impeachment party

Jsmith99 · 03/01/2019 22:16

But even if that happens, the Republican-controlled Senate then has to impeach him with a two-thirds majority.

Indeed. It’s hard to imagine in what circumstances that could happen, other than if Trump was proven to be a Russian ‘asset’ and a traitor.

Justanotherlurker · 03/01/2019 22:25

He won't because it will poke a massive hole in system that Clinton supporters will have to address. what we are left with is an IDPOL election that the left are turning against because of the lack of self reflection where trump could realistically gain a second term considering his base line support is quite strong

SisterOfDonFrancisco · 03/01/2019 22:26

Trump will eventually go, at worst after a second term. He has a deadline though it won't be 2019.

Brexit is such a mess but unless there's a huge change within the ruling party or main opposition we will just have to obey as they herd us merrily off the cliff.
