I can't bear to go back to work

Workschmurk · 01/01/2019 13:34

Anyone else dreading the return to work tomorrow....I don't think I can do it!

The thought is making me feel grumpy and irritated. Can't seem to shake it!

What is it about work that is making you feel so unhappy?

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 01/01/2019 13:37

Yeah' I’ll feel that way when I go back in a week’s time. Just putting it out of my mind for now...

I like the company and my team but the job itself is just not for me.

This is the year that I’m going to have to do something to change it.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/01/2019 13:38

I can't wait to go back to work. The enforced time off at the most miserable time of year is giving me cabin fever.

lavenderbluedilly · 01/01/2019 13:38

I am. In my case it’s because I’m handing in my resignation, which will not go down well, and may possibly result in some colleagues being made redundant Sad. Their posts are dependent on me being there, and my current job is quite hard to recruit for.

sackrifice · 01/01/2019 13:39

No, although I have enjoyed the break [have done loads of gardening and DIY] I am looking forward to going back.

milkandpancakes · 01/01/2019 13:39

I'm dreading going back, I had some time off with anxiety just before Christmas and I'm worried about speaking to my manager about it when I return Sad

Workschmurk · 01/01/2019 13:41

Too just feeling very unmotivated at the moment.

Like the company and the people but my new role which I started earlier this year is quite boring and not what I thought it would be.

I'm doing a degree which supports my new role so I'm stuck really and need to push on really and try to motivate myself Sad.

Sorry to hear that Milk, I'm also struggling with anxiety so can totally relate. Hope your manager makes you feel at ease

Holger - similar to me. Struggling adapting to a new role but love the company and the people

I am. My work is so understaffed and I know that as soon as I go in I'll hit the ground running, no easing back in gently for me. Plus I'd love to have a few more days with my DD who doesn't go back to school until next week.

I am giving myself two more months and if things don't change then I'll be looking for something else. Somehow makes it a little easier to go back with a plan in my head if things don't improve. And repeating to myself 'its not forever!!!!!'.

dontneedthedrama · 01/01/2019 13:45

Enjoying my time off, not too worried about tomorrow I quite like my job . Although car booked in for Mot first thing so hopefully won't need anything to pass . At least the traffic will be ok kids go back to school on Monday. I quite like getting back to normal.

MarthaArthur · 01/01/2019 13:45

I go back in a few days for onw day then have a couple of days next week such is the joy of 0 hour. I am jobhunting today and every day. 2 failed interviews the week before christmas. Maybe start looking up new jobs as well? No one should dread work. The only thing is theres hardly any new jobs at the moment as people havent quit yet.

Workschmurk · 01/01/2019 13:54

Sorry to hear that Martha. I know I should I be grateful as have a very good job and the company are wonderful. Just can't shake the motivation back into me and January just seems to have made things worse Sad

OP posts:
MarthaArthur · 01/01/2019 14:19

Its understandable january is such a slump month. Do you enjoy your job ever or is it just no motivation to get back into it? Maybe give it a month and reevaluate?

workschmurk · 01/01/2019 14:24

Martha I just have zero motivation. Can't seem to shake it :-/. I really don't want to leave the company - not sure what the answer is

Me too. Love my job but I’ve been off for 16 weeks on maternity leave and it’s a wrench to go back. Feel like DS is still very tiny. Hopefully I’ll feel better once I’m in the swing of things again.

MarthaArthur · 01/01/2019 14:28

Its understandable. Try not to stress about it (easier said than done.) Once you are back a week you will settle in again and it gets easier as the days get longer too.

amusedbush · 01/01/2019 14:31

We go back on Thursday as the 2nd January is a holiday in Scotland. I’m dreading it.

I quite like my role but I’ve been doing it for several years and don’t have to give it much thought. The team is fucking batshit though (bitchy, two faced and backstabbing) and I genuinely feel that my boss could be bipolar, or have a similar mental health condition. She is either ‘all sugar or all shite’ as my mum would say, and I never know what I’m walking into. Multiple people have approached me to see if I’m okay after she has publicly chewed me out for mistakes she has made and wants to blame on me.

milkandpancakes · 01/01/2019 14:44

Thanks WorkShcmurk

ShortandSweet96 · 01/01/2019 14:46

Definitely feeling this!
I was so stressed at work on the run up to Christmas, and had to work inbetween Christmas too. So I feel like I've not had a lot of time off.

I just know when I go back tomorrow it's going to be all stress and rushing around. Ugh! Wednesday is the new Monday..

HemlockStarglimmer · 01/01/2019 15:38

Not looking forward to it. Although I'm in Scotland I work in a shop which is open tomorrow.
I'm trying hard not to feel resentful as my husband has two weeks off and my child has three weeks off for Christmas.
I'd love to work somewhere that allows more time off at this time of year Sad

workschmurk · 01/01/2019 17:05

My new role is quite slow paced and that isn't very motivating at all. God I'm dreading it :-(

workschmurk · 02/01/2019 18:41

Survived first day back!! Hows everyone else got on?

OP posts:
Chottie · 02/01/2019 18:56

workschmurk just glad to be home.......

RussellSprout · 02/01/2019 18:59

I rang up my boss to resign this morning (only started recently, notice period has not kicked in yet)

I feel like shit, as I'm now unemployed but the job was not right for me and for various reasons, best left off my CV so giving it any longer was not an option.

I'm actually quite envious of those who went back today to jobs they are stable in/don't hate so if it's just january blues count yourself lucky!
